Why are people so negative 🤣 We haven’t even had the chance to properly see the product yet. I think it’s quite cool and I’m happy Apple exploring more Smart home products

People are inherently nihilistic anymore. ā€œWhy should I get this when an iPad does the same thing!ā€, ā€œthe bezels are too bigā€, ā€œwhat would I even use this for?ā€. Idk y’all, stop acting as though you have to buy everything everyone makes and somehow have it justified to you at every step. Just shut up and don’t buy it if you don’t like it. It’s really not that complicated. Some people will find value in this product and most probably won’t. Sort of the whole thing about this capitalist system we live in, you don’t have to need everything all the time. Just move on.

Also everyone who knows Apple expects every product they make to be earth shattering explosive growth product. When in reality some things just won’t sell as much as an iPhone and an iPad. Expecting every single then they release to revolutionize the world is just silly.

I also don’t understand it. I think people just have too high of an expectation from Apple these days.

I bought a nest hub max 2 years back for Ā£219. Because it was the best option back then. It was expensive, yes. And I only use it for music in the evening if I’m in the bedroom, as an alarm clock and as a camera feed to check on my cat when I’m out of the house.

I could technically do all of those things on my iPads with a camera feed app and a stand. But I didn’t. Because it’s nice to have a separate device for those things while my iPad stays in my office or living room.

People seem to be bashing the price. But it’s really not an unreasonable price considering the competition.. A device that offers HomePod level audio, with a screen interface, Apple software and services baked in and integration with the rest of your Apple ecosystem, while being made out of aluminium instead of plastic and has a processor that is actually capable. (Unlike google and Alexa)

That being said I think most people don’t care about most of those things as these devices are usually used for casual music, recipe following, alarms etc. one feature that I believe will make or break the HomeView is whether or not the ā€œFaceTimeā€ camera can be used as its own Camera feed that can be remotely accessed from your iPhone when you are away from home. Both Amazon and google’s comparable devices offer this feature and personally It’s one of my most used as it removes the need for a third party camera plugged into a separate socket. But we will see. I’ll be getting one for the bedside table either way, and if it has camera feed then one for the kitchen

Because if it’s not something they want…it’s automatically a bad product or useless.

I too think it’s cool.

I think its a cool product, and I'd love to wall mount them in every room if I was made of infinite money.

Agree to disagree. I'd like one, can see the value in it as a smart home user. Just don't necessarily want to put one on my wall ... yet.

This is just a novelty Apple product. I already have a speaker, I have an iPad too. I don’t see the big draw of a stationary - iPad and HomePod Mini had a baby.

My HomePod Mini likes to go into the red light of death. My HomePod Gen 1 is still going strong but I’m waiting for the day it’ll soon just be a paperweight. How many years will this function properly before it takes a dump? I guess I’m just tired of all the planned obsolescence.

I think it's a cool idea, and I kinda want one, but I have no idea where I could put one where I'd actually use it. The disappointing thing for me right now is that it seems developers won't be able to make apps for it.

I find it very irritating the fact that they charge extra for the wall mount.
