Question/Support Fullsize HomePod Gen 3
Is there any information on fullsize HomePod gen 3 release?
In the Siri AI era, they will have to upgrade the processor and RAM for AI support.
More than all the launches i’ve been waiting for the AI supported full sized homepods.

All of the gen 2 owners and everyone who wants to build a 4 gen 2 HomePod surround setup are asking the same question. Only time will tell but i think I will get myself the 4 gen 2 full size setup. I can’t wait more lol

I have one gen1 and i’ve been waiting to upgrade. First for Siri AI, and now for hardware AI support :)

I have 2 gen1 and 2 gen2. Not really interested in ai but it’s a plus. All i want is that sound quality

I am also sitting here with my 4x HomePod 2s waiting for another month now to use them with the new Apple TV. I’m wondering if they are attached to it whether Siri AI will use the microphone of the Apple TV anyway and then the responses will come out of the HomePods so making them less dumb. But who knows. The whole home thing seems like they are trying but still don’t care as much as an iPhone, iPad or Mac event.

Tariffs have delayed Apple’s ancillary product lines indefinitely. I would not expect a refresh until 2028.
I predict they will add Siri AI support to HomePod 2 by offloading the requests to an Apple TV, and only the newest Apple TV will support it.

1000 bucks for 2 gen 2 HomePods and 2 gen 2 minis is steep. 1400 for 4 full size HomePods is a little crazy. I paid less from my denon 7.2 surround system with speakers.

EXACTLY. My post above is similar, the performance doesn’t justify the price at all.
If anything, they should offer the bundle of them (2 big, 2 small) for $6-700 and it’d be at least more attractive and competitive.

It looked like the Gen 2 was getting Siri AI from the website, only time will tell.

I would say they will happen when they can get chips and ram at the price it could sell for.

A full size would prob be about $3-400 a piece. After $1200 you were better off buying a serious 9.1 Dolby atmos home theatre system with a huge subwoofer. They’re too late to the surround game.
I have the jbl 9.1 soundbar, satellite speaker, and subwoofer setup. It’s $800 or so and the sound separation is CRISPY. I’d neeed a serious reason to consider a HomePod for this purpose. Couple this with my hue sync lights, my theatre experience is so immersive and the damn house shakes. A HomePod setup can’t compete with a true theatre setup.
I also have a mini HomePod in the kitchen so I have the Siri stuff already, so Siri AI isn’t a reason to make the HomePods my home theatre setup. Maybe in an alternate room but still, for the $1200 or so this would cost.. it’s a non starter.

Yeah for home theater a dedicated subwoofer and center channel speaker are the 2 most important components, and both are lacking with a 4-homepod setup. Non starter for me too. The only use case I can think of is for people who live in an apartment or small space and don't have room for all the components of a true surround system.

The HomePod already does virtual center channel incredibly good. Bass from 4 4.5inch HomePod second gen should be more than enough!

No way… it’s decent but has nothing on a standalone subwoofer on the floor where it belongs

I do agree. What are you views on devialet’s setup? Using only the phantoms for home cinema and no dedicated subwoofer? Sure they are more powerful than HomePod but a 4 gen 2 full size setup will most likely be over 100db of sound output, its going to be more than loud enough with enough low end. Might not be heart pounding but very good

It’s the same problem.. small speakers that have to do everything, low, mid, and high.. you sacrifice tone separation, so the end result is muddy.
Once your ears are trained towards pristine sound you’ll realize the all in ones can trick someone into thinking it’s better because of loudness, or maybe it sounds more pleasant than your current setup. When you truly separate the components you get a broad soundstage where every sound has its place in the room. If you’re spending hundreds on a few of these, you can grab a soundbar setup that would crush them, with a dedicated subwoofer included.
Once you go.. you’ll never come back. You’ll hear things in your music you never did before. The HomePod and devialet stuff is just a good way to get some volume.. but if you want quality, do it right with a dedicated sound setup. Most of em support airplay and tv/game setup so it’ll integrate as easy as a HomePod and make you happy every time you put some sound on.

I honestly think they ran out of innovation on the sound front and are just updating these to keep them relevant. We have Siri in every device so siriai isn’t too much of a draw. Even a smaller soundbar system 5.1 or 7.1 would sound beautiful in an apartment, so I really think this is for bedrooms where the tv sound would be terrible and it’s a small boost to its sound signature.
Otherwise, I see no reason to buy these for the touted home theatre setup “feature” that they are drastically late too. They missed the buss on this one.
I’d want to see them do a true soundbar setup (home bar ultra lol) with center channel, up and downward firing satellites, and at least a mini subwoofer, Siri enabled. That could compete but I don’t think they want to go that deep into the sound game.

Yes. I live in an apartment and in a ~250-300sqft room 2 home pods for stereo is a lot. I currently have 1 and that’s a lot for music too. The stereo pair will add a dimension for movies and shows which will be enough for a small space.

As a HomePod previous fan boy, I’d honestly never invest in one again. My gen 1 farts, so can’t use it, my second gen has the touch issue with the panel. They’re just really not built to last. Damn shame as the gen 1 was phenomenal, the 2nd gen just mediocre in the sound department.

I have a gen1 I’ve used heavily since it was released. Still going strong. I might be an outlier.
I’d love an updated version with the same sound quality.1

Yes. Me too. My gen1 has been running for 9 years now. Still sounds amazing.
The only issue is i can’t get it to play music when i tell it, it does play when i hand off or airplay in.

Today, I noticed a few small things:
If you visit the Apple US Store website, the HomePod Gen 2 product page has the updated Siri hues in:
a) texts
b) images
However, if you visit the store page of an EU country (my example Germany), it is not updated.
That gets my hopes high, that it will actually support Siri AI, but it’s its just a little spark :)
