Welcome to HaikuStew!
Hey everyone! I'm EJ, u/SelectionOk8111, creator of r/HaikuStew.
**Our First Haiku Round posts at 12:00 UTC on October 7*\*
I created this sub as a home for a daily haiku game that the community writes together, one line at a time:
one line, then the next,
strangers stir a pot of words,
a co-creation.
How a day works
Every day the app makes one post. Open it and tap Open today's haiku.
- Round 1: the first line (5 syllables)
- Round 2: the middle line (7)
- Round 3: the last line (5)
In each round you can do each or both: write one line and/or vote for one line that isn't yours.
The most-voted line wins when the round is over, and the finished poem is posted as a comment on that day's post! Full details are on the wiki.
Round 1 opens at 12:00 UTC every day, which is 5am Pacific / 8am Eastern while US clocks are on daylight time.
What to do here
- Have fun!
- Co-create!
- Play each day's post: write a line, vote for a line, or both
- Comment on the daily post. Read the finished haiku, tell the author what you liked!
- This subreddit has one post a day, automatically posted by the app, so there is nowhere to start your own thread. Everything happens in the daily post and its comments.
Community vibe
Friendly, a little silly, and collaborative.
How to get started
- Open today's post and write a line (5 syllables first round, 7 second round, 5 third round)
- Know someone who likes words? Send them the link.
- Want to help moderate? Message me.
Thanks for being part of the very first batch. Let's see what the pot makes!
