Watch Suggestion Show Suggestions?

I just finished Boardwalk Empire. The Sopranos was my favorite show ever, and I loved The Wire and OZ. I'm looking for more great series to binge. I'm a stay at home mom and have lots of time on my hands. Someone sugested Warrior, so I'm on episode of 1 of that. What else is great on HBO? Thanks in advance!

Based on what you’ve liked, You absolutely have to watch True Detective Season 1, Also Task came out recently. It’s very good. We own this City will feel familiar as well.

Banshee, The Knick, Chernobyl, The Night Of, Mare of Eastown, True Detective (season 1 is top tier, season 3 is decent, the other two seasons suck ass).

2

u/btteb723 1d ago

damn? suck ass? should i still watch it?

1

u/1980pzx 1d ago

watching warrior now! binging!

u/dingleballs717 1d ago

I wish I liked Banshee enough to tolerate the unnecessary sex scenes. Like it was just halfway softcore porn that added nothing to the story. Felt gross.

Night Of. We own this City which is based on that massive scandal and a crazy watch. Also a few of The Wire actors show up randomly in that.

Succession and Deadwood. Both shows feature that same incredible tier of character writing, complex power dynamics, and top-tier HBO storytelling

Ozark

Justified

u/jacdubya1 10h ago

I'm wrapping up the mini series station 11 right now and am shocked that it's not more mentioned than it is. It may be a bit non sense but it's a very entertaining and emotion provoking watch. It's a world ending type show, and it's pretty similar to the leftovers really.

You have to abandon the future!

TREME. It's made by the same people behind The Wire. It talks about Louisiana and the aftermath of the hurricane that destroyed the region and how people kept trying to live their lives. Seems overly dramatic and boring but jazz music has a role to play here, people and characters are great, the show is brillant.

RUBICON. Also a HBO TV show we are talking intelligence and espionnage in a very small team of analysts who are not supposed to investigate but to produce documents for the people actually conducting investigation. Of course one of these analyst is going to understand something the others don't get... I watched it after I watched The Wire and I believed no TV show in the world would meet that level of quality and would hook me so hard again. I was wrong.

In an other style... If you like action-packed stuffs have a look at Banshee and Strike Back.

Rubicon was AMC (I really liked it but one of the reasons it’s forgotten besides being from AMC and not available on major streamers is that it was cancelled after one season in the middle of the story).

wow, as good as the wire! im interested! i will check it out! thanks!
