New subreddit policy

We've taken the decision to try restricting cross-posting *to* our forum. We value contributions but it was getting carried away. Cross-posts *from* GTL to other subs are fine, subject to that subreddit's policies ofc. We'll see how it goes and re-evaluate at some point in the future.

Thanks as always to those who contribute. Elbows up!!

If Canada Picks Gripen, Would The US REALLY Block The Deal?

I would hope if the US blocked a Gripen deal that would be the end of all formal military cooperation including NORAD.

“Even though overall paying travel to the U.S. has declined, Florida’s share of Canadian travel to the U.S. grew by 3 (percentage) points last year.” Obviously false information seeing who is saying it. 😡🤬

I wonder how bertaProudDad is coping with his active follower count loss?

Anyone else notice a difference? I do!

Thanks Zelensky, for 'OP: Quiet Piggy'... most inconvenient timing for the Seppies, if the bot engagement was as bad as it appears to have been.

Guardian story https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/oct/10/fda-toxic-chemicals-food-analysis Got to wonder if they're going to run up against EU, and UK, food safety rules.

This line got me: "Maffini said she was particularly concerned about flavorings because ultra-processed food companies use chemicals that “play around with the nervous system and receptors in your mouth to try to make us eat more and more of something”." *shudders*

Authoritarians and Authoritarian Followers

This book is a fantastic look at what drives groups like MAGA, Alberta separatists, the Dominion Society, etc.

Sociologist Robert Altmeyer wrote this book about his research into patterns he noticed among his students. Those patterns were extremely consistent, and could often predict group attitudes.

Fear is a huge part of it, fear not only of anything different, but also fear of their own leaders.

Read the book and you’ll have a far better understanding of what’s driving groups like this, and understanding means you tools to dismantle their arguments.
