I am getting a feeling the Nets used this ankle injury to temper our expectations with Mikel. Maybe just exaggerated instead of completely fabricated, but it seems fishy.

I started to get this feeling when Keon was inserted into the starting lineup, what if he was offered a chance to start when he signed the contract? And it makes sense on multiple levels. Egor gets another chance to show if he can handle running an offense, Keon comes in as the top perimeter defender which is an area our unit lacked, and this lineup is the best option if our goal was to be competitive from the start of the season.

Most of what I heard from Nets media was that they expected MBJ and Egor to start in the backcourt from Day 1. Well, if after hearing that all summer they just announced Keon as a Starter in Training Camp, we would think a guy who couldn't be a Starter on the Kings just beat out our #6 pick, even if it makes more basketball sense. Using the injury rationale lets them give this lineup a shot to start the regular season, if it succeeds and we're winning, they stick with it. If not, and Mikel shows he's as talented as we think, they can pivot and no harm done. It's a bit of a win-win.

The strongest argument against is the whole team needs to be on board with this narrative. This is the problem with the Front Office being so vague about injuries, I just don't trust the motive or information. I couldn't find when the injury happened or how, what part of the ankle, just at Media Day "oh no its hurt now, don't think it will be long, he'll be back soon"... right.

Nets World, just curious how or why members of the Nets community became a fan of the team?
I myself, started watching baseball in 2005 and grew up a Yankee fan watching games on the YES network. Who else played on YES? The Nets. So naturally as a kid, for better or worse I became a fan of the team that year during the 05-06 season, catching the tail end of the J-Kidd era with Vince and RJ.

Those Nets and Yankees teams were my introduction into sports and I haven't looked back since. I loved getting the Newsday in the morning, turning to the back page and flipping to the boxscores to see who led the team in scoring each game. It hasn't always looked pretty, and in fact, the bad has probably outweighed the good, but I've always come back to watch the team win or lose nonetheless.

Despite the constant bashing in the mainstream media, I'm excited for this upcoming season and think the Nets have a bright future for years to come behind Egor, Mikel, and the team's flexibility with cap space and draft assets. Lets go Nets.

We need more of this roughness in the team

Even with the finals losses, I’d still say 2021 was the best shot we’ve had at a ring so far. But good Lord look at what this rebuild has given us. I watched Egor annihilate a GOAT candidate and an MVP in 1 play in the PRESEASON. This backcourt will anchor us for a long ass time. When was the last time y’all felt this good about our top picks? Lopez and Favors? We have shit to build around. It’ll pay off and it’ll be worth the noise. I love our fan base and we’ll hit that peak sooner rather than later and this time it’ll be built instead of bought.
