Finally got the Galil I wanted

Post image

It's been a lot of fun to shoot so far. It came with a Tapco magazine which has been doing very well. But I have a few surplus magazines on the way for it, too. I didn't realize how far it would launch the brass. It ejects it a good 25ft-30ft.

What’s the structural difference?

I would wager the difference would be in the grain structure of the receiver steel.

The receivers marked JRA are a bit better quality; these are called GEN 2. "Gen 1" is by BULA and has some potential defects/qa concerns.

Correct, the only real issue I have ever had with my Gallant was related to firing pins, but overall it’s been running great!

From my understanding they made their receiver in semi auto and as close as possible to the original receiver. The barrel is 1-9 twist to handle modern 556 loads instead of the original which was 1-12 twist. They sent a packet of information with it around somewhere. If you're interested I can find it and take pictures of it.

That’s ok. I just just it’s funny that dude calling it out as not a galil as if it isn’t a galil.

The packet says to only use commercial .223 and not military 5.56. The receiver, feed ramps, barrel are all reproductions. It is a great feeling reproduction but it is still a bit of a frankengun.

Mine is to only to be used with 556 Nato and to not be used eith anything else

The best Ammo that I have used in mine would be Federal, Fiocchi, PPU, and Winchester White Box 556 (That stuff is made in the Lake City Plant).

PMC is also another great one too that I would personally recommend you feed it. It’s not too picky on ammo, it just prefers softer primers.

Though one word of advice, keep an eye out on the firing pins, because that’s the one part that usually breaks, but thankfully it’s not too much of a problem because it is chump change to fix.

YOOO!!!

ONE OF US!!! ONE OF US!!! ONE OF US!!!

As A Jew and Colombian myself, I say that you my friend are!

CERTIFIED KOSHER!!!

Also nice G3 you got there, I have one too (A PTR-91) and they are excellent rifles as well. I see that you too are an enjoyer of the ARM variant.

I have a JRA Gallant and can tell you that you are definitely gonna enjoy it a lot! If you can, be sure to get an original grip to retrofit it if you want. Galilhub and Iron Curtain Customs should be able to help you in case you need any help finding stuff.

Either way man, I am happy that you decided to join us!
