Announcement We can all start posting some super deals when we come across them.
Every now and then there's some blowout special that I come across stuff that is really low...
One time, I saw Keitt Mango's for 33¢ a lb. (3lbs for a dollar)

Story was that the manager ordered 3 cases for a sprouts location and got 3 pallets instead. These normally run (at best) $6 a case (6 mangos) at the Asian markets
making it a super blow out deal at 2 bucks a case.
I picked up 10 cases and broke out the food dehydrators...
and I filled the house with sweet, tropical mango goodness for days.
I think we can have people taking pictures and posting things like this as they come across them so that others in the community can take advantage of it all. :D

Announcement UPDATE: Post Flairs for region/style and basic cost required. :)
Hello everyone,
We've left this up for about a week and got everyone's feedback
The first thing that we've taken action on is getting better info for peoples posts and content.
That means that flairs that let people know the region and basic price at a glance are now required for making and submitting a post to the sub.
We'll be trying to address the issues with "best" content that people are mining the sub with.
It's always been low effort and frankly I agree with everyone that we'll all benefit by having people use the search function.
This will also be aided by the flairs in their searches (future).
Of course if you have a workable suggestion regarding something we've not listed in the current flair list, let us know by sending us a modmail - thanks!

Local Seafood $20 The New poke bowls at Tunaville are delicious
I was introduced to poke in Maui with just fish on rice at a grocery store deli and I only ever eat it that way to this day. I did agree to crispy onions which was fun.
$15.00 for a small. This one is salmon and they have 3 options, two of which are tuna. They do have the edamame, sauces, avocado, etc.

Photo gallery Where can I find elotes like this? 🌽 🧀
Jordan Howlett on FB posted about a place on Santa Monica called Tacos DesVelados where they serve corn in the cob and it’s wrapped on grilled cheese and topped with all the regular elotes toppings. It looks incredible. Where in San Diego serves this? 🌽

Question, Where can I find? Butter-dipped ice cream
Does this exist in San Diego? It’s like Dairy Queen’s cones but instead of dipping in chocolate it’s butter which forms a hard savory shell over soft served ice cream swirls.

Question, Where can I find? pretzel/beer cheese combo in San Diego?
As the title says: looking for the best bavarian styled pretzel with beer cheese (not nacho cheese) in San Diego.
Hooleys in Grossmont center closed and they were my personal favorite. I know there’s one out in Rancho as well. Kaiserhof is a close second favorite.
I find that most places that have a good Bavarian pretzel such as pretzels and pints, unfortunately they use nacho cheese advertised as their ‘beer cheese’ which isn’t legit beer cheese and takes away from my interest. So adding to my inquiry about the best REAL beer cheese that’s included.

Other / Fusion Under $20 Since you all loved it last year, the 53rd annual Serbian Festival with homemade food, live music, and folklore dancing is back today!
TLDR; I'm not going to make it a spammy post but wanted to inform all of the foodie lovers in here (especially the redditors that went last year) that the St. George Serbian Orthodox church is hosting its 53rd annual Serbian festival today, Saturday, October 10th, from noon to 11pm. All of the food will be home-made by the chefs of the church. It's a huge event every year where up to 2,000 people show up to eat authentic Serbian food, listen to live music and buy Serbian market items. The next opportunity to try authentic Serbian cuisine will be a year from today, so we hope to see you there!
For anyone interested, here's more information:
The flavors, sounds, and spirit of Serbia come alive at the 53rd Annual San Diego Serbian Festival on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Bay Park. From 12 PM to 11 PM, this family-friendly celebration transforms the church grounds into a lively cultural experience filled with food, music, dance, and history. Guests arriving between 12 PM and 4 PM will receive a complimentary homemade Vanilice (Serbian vanilla cookie) while supplies last, so early arrival is recommended!
Serbian cuisine is known for its rich, bold flavors, and the festival is the perfect place to enjoy it all! Feast on spit roasted pork and lamb, savory burek (meat or cheese pastry), grilled cevapcici (minced sausages), sarma (stuffed cabbage rolls), flaky pita (apple and cherry pastries), palacinke (Serbian crepes), and rich baklava, with vegetarian favorites like musaka and sopska salata (similar to Greek salad) also available.
Traditional Serbian folklore dancing brings the stage to life featuring award-winning performers from St. George’s Morava group and visiting ensembles from across Southern California. Two live Serbian bands will perform throughout the day, bringing to life centuries-old storytelling through music and keeping the celebration going late into the night.
Families are especially welcome, with a kid zone featuring a playground, face painting, and fun to keep little ones entertained.
Festival-goers can also tour the St. George Church for an unforgettable chance to experience the only church in North America fully adorned with breathtaking Venetian glass mosaics that cover the church’s entire interior. A Vespers service will be held at 6 PM, inviting guests to experience the beauty and depth of the Orthodox Christian tradition.
With over half a century of history, the San Diego Serbian Festival is not only a staple in the Southern California event calendar—it’s a warm invitation to eat, dance, celebrate, and connect.
Bring your friends, bring your family, and experience world-class Serbian hospitality to the fullest 🇷🇸

Japanese $20 Japanese Shave Ice
Does anyone have any recommendations for real Japanese shave ice? This is not Hawaiian shave ice - Japan does it better.
We love Hatsuzakura, but it's a small place, so you never know how long the wait is. Their shave ice is my favorite thing in this entire city. Other Japanese places I've seen don't typically have it on the menu. They gotta have the special machine and I doubt it's cheap.

Question, Where can I find? Pancake Rolls?
Was up in the Bay Area for work and a client sent me to a place and insisted I get these. I thought I had traveled most of a typical Chinese food menu in my life. Savory/sweet and filled w beef etc. anywhere on Convoy or other to find these? They were amazing!

Hey guys! I'm going to San Diego for the first time next week with my parents. Could you give me food recommendations?
Anything you like, but not super expensive please. We’re coming from Mexico City, and we will be staying in Tijuana. So, Tijuana recs are also welcome.
Unrelated… what do you recommend to move around the city? Uber? The local bus?
Thank you ☺️

Question, Where can I find? Elevated birthday din recommendations
Planning to spend a birthday weekend (30yo) in Encinitas/SD and want to plan for a special occasion dinner.
We are foodies who appreciate artisanal / fine dining! Considering Lilo but want to be sure it’s worth $$$$.
Any recommendations for a special occasion dinner with excellent food? Doesn’t have to be fancy / just looking for a good experience!
