Discussion We need to acknowledge that in some instances a man knows a woman is flirting but ignores it. It's not always being dense and missing the obvious.

A certain woman has been increasingly aggressive in trying to get my attention. I thought just not being responsive would be enough but she is relentless.

Discussion Is she flirting with me, or am I just reading too much into it?

I’ve been going to the same bakery about 2–3 times a week for the past few weeks. There’s a girl who works at the counter, and she seems to recognize me now.

She remembers what I usually order, and one time she actually added an extra bun to my order for free without me asking. When I scanned my rewards barcode, she also said my name. She usually maintains eye contact with me while we’re talking and smiles.

Then, a couple of weeks later, I went in again and told her what I wanted. She said something like, ā€œOh yeah, you always get the croissants.ā€ She was smiling and maintaining eye contact again. Before I left, she said, ā€œI’ll see you next week?ā€

I’m wondering if this is just good customer service because I’m a regular, or if there might be a little bit of flirting/interest there. I don’t want to be delusional and interpret normal friendliness as flirting 😭

Also, we’re both women, so I have no idea if that changes how I should interpret any of this.

I’m considering telling her that she has really pretty eyes because I genuinely think she does, but I’m worried that might be weird or too forward.

What do you guys think? Does this sound like flirting, or just a friendly employee recognizing a regular customer?

So I have been, like, randomly talking to this girl, and this morning, I sent her a text, like.

Hey, some other account is using your photos. Do you know that?

She is like, " Who? Tell me, I'm scared ( like really scared)

Then I sent an account filled with moon photos with a video of treat me like white tees.

All of this just to hear, " yo", I was so scared, and then you can do better :(

Discussion am i stupid for accepting an invitation for beers with a coworker

I work with a doctor. he's older than me and there has definitely been chemistry there before. for quite some time - maybe 2 months - the chemistry had subsided. things were pretty strictly pleasant and professional.

he texted me after work saying that he was in my area. we bantered back and forth a bit. then, he asks me if i'm all settled in for the night, I said no that I don't usually go to bed until quite late. later he asked where I usually go out around my area. I responded with 2 bars I have frequented before. he says, "i was going to ask if you wanted to grab a beer." spontaneously, i said yes. things have been very professional and pleasantly friendly for an extended amount of time. so, I didnt think anything of it.

the night started off innocuous. conversation about work, trips he's taken lately, he asked me some questions and things like that. we went in the back and started playing pool in an isolated room. slowly, chemistry seems to return. he gets a little touchy...i'm sitting on a high stool with my legs pulled up to my chest waiting for him to finish his turn in pool. he goes, then passes my chair, as he does he says it's my turn and taps me on the hip/slightly butt area. I didnt give any reaction and just got up. he keeps kind of testing the waters. my hip, my back, etc. maybe about 3-4 times.

we finally have to leave because he's on call and has a case to respond to. he says he's disappointed he couldn't finish our game, and gives me his card to pay. on the way out he playfully kicks me in the behind - which i guess my surprised reaction could have been taken as.....playful? I spun around, put my finger in his face, and laughed (instinctively) saying "woah. excuse me."

I initially accepted this invitation thinking it was a normal outing with a coworker. i'm a believer that men and women can be friends. i just feel sort of stupid or like "ah. I see." about the situation. sigh, I dont know.

Discussion How do I give less friend vibes and talk less?

I have no problem to approach the girl and during the conversation I like to both talk and listen. I have lots of cool stories and love to tell them, but I noticed that most of the time I just talk to much and girls lose interest in conversation. I genuinely interested in new people and always ask them about what they re doing their points of view etc sort of comparing to my experiences, but it mostly just seems like a turn off to girls. What starts as a positive flirty thing goes down to hell(

How do you escalate the verbal conversation exactly? I understand the thing with graduate or light touches, have no problem with that, more like about the verbal thing.

Any examples of what you’ve actually done with a guy you liked, and what you were hoping to get out of it?

Discussion I miss it.

If this isn't allowed feel free to delete. My wife and I used to send flirty things back and forth all the time. Over the last few years the fire has died, but one of the things I miss the most is the flirtatious back and forth. I've tried so many things to rekindle, but every attempt seems to fall flat. I'm not posting this to ask for a flirtatious relationship or to do anything nefarious I just kinda wanted to get it off my chest. I just miss the rush and the little dopamine drip of reading something spicy or knowing that I'm saying something to excite someone.

Discussion Does confidence ruin my flirting?

Id like to think I'm (19M) decently handsome and ive been flirting with women since I was a teenager and genuinely get compliments about my way with words, but when I start flirting and it goes well I start to get very confident and instead of thinking about what I'm saying I say very witty things depending on the convo and it definitely shows the confidence I have but sometimes I feel like it can be too much even though ive never gotten any complaints about it but I just wanna know how women think about a guy that has a lot of confidence in his words. Because if its an ick it is definitely something id wanna sort out and start thinking about before flirting. Thoughts?

Discussion Is she flirting with me for fun or serious or not flirting at all?

I'm 22(M) and she is 27(F). She's my roommate's elder sister who visits him once every three or four months. Usually, my roommate goes to visit her but recently she came home to visit him and took us out to dinner. Way out of my league btw.

During the car ride to the restaurant, she said I looked ripped, when it's been ages since I've been to the gym. The dinner was okay. We were five people in the restaurant, talking about my roommate and his shenanigans. Then we went back to our place and started drinking.

I never drank in my life until that day. She got to know that I don't drink or smoke, and offered me a drink. I was trying to be nice and say no, but she forced me a little bit. And I was always curious, so I gave in and finished like half a can of some coffee mixed alcohol drink. First it was one sip, then two, then that half can. And she felt happy, I guess? Then we went out for a smoke, and we both were walking behind. While crossing the road, there was a car coming way down the road. I saw it already. But she held my arm and stood there until the car was gone. She offered me a smoke, but I didn't do it.

Then we came back and she offered me another drink again. Now a whole can with 13.9% alcohol in it. Then my roommate put on some songs and they started dancing. Me and one other guy who was a friend of her's were just sitting and drinking cuz we don't wanna dance. But she forced me to dance and taught me some steps here and there.

Untill now it was pretty subtle, so I didn't pay much attention and was going with the flow. Then I learned that her guy friend was from my department who graduated. So I asked for his number for connections and stuff. And then she got angry at me since I never asked for her number, in all the time I knew her. We only met like twice. I was trying NOT to be creepy. And she's my roommate's sister. And then I apologized and asked for her number, and she's like, "I won't give you my number again." She was being a little bit funny about it, but sounded pretty frustrated as well. The whole night was chill, and everything was fine. They (she and her guy friend) left around midnight, and it's been like 4 days.

So what is it?

Edit: I forgot to mention that she explicitly said this- "I was flirting with you all this time, and you asked for his number first and not mine?" And later her friend was saying, don't take it to heart, she does these things when she gets drunk. So I am still in confusion if she's speaking due to being drunk or if she's really flirting with me.

Discussion Is it weird that I can’t enjoy sex without respect/intellectual attraction even if I’m not ā€œromanticā€?

I’m a 30 year old woman and I’ve always been confused about where sex should fit into my life and relationships.

I was never the type of girl who could casually sleep with people just because I was horny or because someone was physically attractive. Even since my teenage years, I needed some kind of emotional, mental or energetic connection first. Not necessarily ā€œtrue loveā€ or waiting for marriage for years, but at least respect, trust, attraction and some kind of meaningful vibe.

For me even kissing, cuddling or sleeping next to someone feels intimate. I genuinely can’t enjoy physical closeness with someone I don’t admire or feel emotionally/intellectually drawn to.

At the same time, I’m not extremely conservative or unrealistic either. If I feel chemistry and trust, sex could happen on the first date or after a few weeks. I don’t have rigid rules. But I need to actually feel something real toward the person.

The problem is that many people around me — both men and women — treat sex as something casual and biological only. They tell me I’m ā€œoverthinking itā€, ā€œtoo selectiveā€, ā€œtoo emotionalā€, or that I’ll regret wasting my youth by not having more casual experiences.

I did try casual or fast experiences a few times in my mid-late 20s. Some were physically enjoyable in the moment, yes. But emotionally many of them felt empty afterward because deep down I didn’t really respect or value those people enough. Some even became memories I felt uncomfortable or embarrassed about later.

And now honestly, random flirting, texting, shallow attraction or sleeping with someone just because they have a nice body feels emotionally exhausting and meaningless to me. I don’t even feel motivated for it anymore.

I still like sexuality and intimacy, but only when there’s genuine admiration, trust, emotional intelligence and connection involved. Otherwise it feels empty very quickly.

Does anyone else feel this way? Or am I just ā€œtoo selectiveā€ for modern dating culture?

Discussion Girls at bars

25M that has always been in relationships just now started to approach girls. I’ve noticed I get looked at a lot by a girl when I’m out and then when I approach they seem less interested. Am I doing something wrong. I’m tall, attractive, confident and have a fun personality but perhaps because I’ve always been in relationships I’m not cultivating the proper conversations in that type of setting. New to this let me know

Discussion Was she being nice or actually flirting?

Okay Reddit so I work in a Restaurant. I notice this customer make some big eye contact and smile at me, so I return the favor while I’m
Changing the trash, big eye contact and smile go through the usual conversation of how’s your day going routine, at the end when she gets her food I told her o I like your dress it looks great on you. And I receive o thank you very much back and another smile.

Was the compliment well timed and received? If she comes back and I get another big eye contact and smile should I try for her number? Or did I miss my shot? Or am I pushing it?

I don’t normally notice people give huge smiles and eye contact likĆØ that. It’s rare when I pick up on stuff like that. I’m trying to get better at dropping compliments to women even if I don’t know them. I’m normally pretty shy and women don’t normally notice shy guys so I’m trying to get better at random compliments.

Discussion More subconscious?

So recently ive noticed that my flirtatious abilities are like zilch if I am actively trying to progress a conversation towards anything like that. However if I just continue "having a regular conversation" things always go better and I wind up in the position to feel more comfortable actively flirting. Not that im good at it either way lol but yeah.

Wattup with that?

Discussion Precarious

I’m a 24-year-old male interested in a 29-year-old female colleague. Her sister and I are friends/ colleagues. I’ve always had a crush on her, and it’s been a known joke among us. Recently, over the past three weeks, her sister and I have grown closer, and I’ve become closer to her as well. We’ve hung out several times, and things have been going well.

Our first proper hangout was about two weeks ago on a night after work. I had dinner plans, but she was with her sister and a mutual friend. Around 11 pm, her sister called me to join them at a bar. I went along, and we both had a few drinks, not hard liquor, but enough to feel tipsy. I noticed we were more touchy-feely than usual. During the night, she playfully tried to slap me and jokingly asked if I would marry her. I hesitated, unsure of what to say, and the joke ended there. I walked her and her sister back to the office to wait for their Uber.

Since that night, there’s been a persistent joke about us being married. When sober, we’re flirtatious but nothing extraordinary. However, when tipsy, our body language is more intimate, as pointed out by others. A mutual friend mentioned that when sober and asked about it, she doesn’t see anything between us and thinks it’s just jokes. Yet, when we’re alone, it feels different, almost as if we’re waiting for the other to make a move, but we’re cautious not to make things awkward.

I’m confused about what to do. Am I being naive? Is there something there, or is it just her way of expressing herself? When sober, we’re still flirty, but her comment to someone else makes me wonder if she’s being defensive or secretive. What should I do?

Discussion Please Help Me Understand I'm Confused

I went grocery shopping and I went to go find some cheez its. There was a girl stocking some other things nearby and her cart of items were blocking the cheez its. She saw that I was trying to look at them, and she asked if she was in the way and I politely was like yeah. She moved the cart so I could see them and she started stocking other items right next to the cheez its. I thought she looked cute, so I started to chat with her. Got her name and honestly, I couldn't figure out what flavor of cheez its I wanted so I asked her if she liked cheez its and she did so I asked her if she would pick a flavor for me. She did.

Everything went smooth honestly. I didn't feel awkward and she didn't seem like it felt awkward to her. It felt genuine. I was still not confident enough to ask for her number. So I said alright *insert her name* thank you for helping me and have a great rest of your day. She told me I would need to let her know how the cheez its she picked out for me tasted.

I thought maybe that was a way of her wanting me to get her number possibly? I mean I have no idea if I will ever see her again so how would I tell her? When I made my way to the checkout I almost went back to go ask for her number but I cold feet and didn't. That was 3 weeks ago.

I thought about it a little and told myself I should have asked for her number. So, some time goes by. Told myself if I happen to see her again that I would. Beginning of this week I went to go get some groceries. Ended up seeing her again. For a moment I got cold feet but went up to her anyways and she saw me walking to her and she started smiling. I said yo whats up *insert her name* and made some small talk.

Alright listen, I still didn't ask for her number because I guess I chickened out again hahaha. That being said alright. She said she needed to go because she has other stores to go to for stocking. I said alright have good rest of your day and as we both were leaving, she also said something to me, honestly though, I couldn't hear what she was saying but either something like until we meet again or see you around. As she was saying that with both of us making eye contact, she winked at me with her left eye.

Honestly, I was bit taken aback because a girl who keep in mind, we don't know each other, gave me this wink while saying something about meeting again. To me it felt and seemed like a flirtatious wink. That is how I took it. In my mind she was giving me the ok to get her number right? Fast forward 2 days later.

So today I decided to go to the store to see if I would see her because I have 0 idea if I will see her or not because she doesn't work at this particular store rather, she works for a different company stocking their products at various locations. I'm about making things happen and I didn't want to wait or pass up on a potential opportunity. So, I went and fortunately or unfortunately, depending how you see it. I find out that she has a boyfriend and kids... and is 7 years older than me. LOL

Honestly, I'm not disappointed or anything and think it's actually funny but I am confused because I honestly thought that she was flirting with me with the interactions we had. Especially with her winking at me.

Guys do I just suck lol? Not being able to tell the difference between flirting or being friendly... I guess? Seriously how was that not flirting on her part??? HELP ME UNDERSTAND!

At no point did she seem to not enjoy talking with me. Her body language was open. She smiled and got red in the face when we chatted. I thought for sure she was flirting with me and wanting me to get her number. I guess I was very wrong lol.

Anyways. She told me that I was brave for asking her. Oh well... lol

Discussion What does this mean?

Ok so a guy I know through a common hobby sent me a text message out of the blue last week.

He used to flirt with me about 4 years ago when he was fighting with his GF, then he stopped and they seemed to be working things out.

So we had an hour long conversation through texting, he asked me about everything...where I'm living, how's my dog, what am I up to, he remembered details of my life to the T, I was actually impressed, so then he gets a little flirty and mentions taking me for a ride in his corvette one day.

Next day he's in the area and we go for a ride in his corvette. I'm wondering if he's single or if he broke up with what's her name or what, finally it comes out that he is still with her, still living together, been fighting the last year, apparently she wants kids with him...they are a bit past that age if you ask me and she has three grown children already.

He seems miserable, like always. My question is what the hell does he want from me and why lead me on if he's trying to have kids with the person he is miserable with???

Is he too afraid to jump ship, is he exploring his other options? What the hell? To me it's extremely disrespectful and I don't know what to make of it. I actually do like him a lot but I dont get this at all.

Tell me what you think....thanks!

Neurodivergent M looking for advice on how to interpret this

About 2 years ago, I was sitting in class minding my own buisness when I feel a tap on my shoulder and I turn around and it’s this girl I’ve never seen or talked to before. She asks me about the upcoming test and this turns into a surprisingly decent conversation about topics including her favorite sports team (chiefs) and my dislike of Taylor swifts music drifting off of that. Class ends early and she puts on her headphones and leaves with everyone else before I can get her name or any contact info (dumb on my part I know). So I go about 5 months without any knowledge and she never sits with me in class again. I talk with my friends about the encounter and they find her instagram based on description so I follow her and she follows me back. My friends encourage me to send a DM and here’s the conversation

Me: hey how’s it going Her: aren’t you the kid who doesn’t like Taylor swift? Me: I’m surprised you remember but yes, we didn’t really get to talk much since Her: that’s because I didn’t want to

After that I assumed that window has closed and I quickly deleted the message thread and never sent her another one because I don’t want to push that. I make a second instagram account for my photography and I notice that she followed that but I think nothing of it. Fast forward to this year. I see her at an event where the two sections of my teachers class are conjoined but we do not talk or interact at all. That night, at like 2am I get a notification that girl.media on instagram wants to follow you and the same for my photo account. I see she made a media account and that I was one of the first 8 people she followed and that is what’s confusing the shit out of me rn. She only follows about 100 people on this account and me and my photography account are 2 of them

Now (about 5 months after the media account thing) we work as media interns for the same company now I’m on video and she’s socials. I was helping someone on my team tear down cameras, and she comes over looking for one of her sd cards. Looks at me, sees me and says my full name in an excited tone and says ā€œwow it’s been forever since I’ve seen you. I gave her a wave but kinda stood there in shock because that was the last thing I expected to happen, considering everything that happen and in our initial and only conversation we didn’t even exchange names. Still in confusion

TLDR: I’m either getting mixed signals or just awful at reading emotions

Discussion I am not sure he likes me or not?

I have a work crush who is higher level than mine. We flirt a lot at work like say ā€œlove youā€ sometimes, even tho I didn’t say back to him he will be like ā€œlove you backā€. He came up to where I work and tried to spend time and talk a bit. We laugh each other’s jokes and always teasing. Once I caught him looking at me for few seconds and I asked ā€œwhy are you looking at me like thatā€ and he was silent. Also he winked at me. Sometimes he looked at me and start talking and looking for attention. So I feel like he might also crush on me too. Yesterday at work I was with him in a room with another third person then he said ā€œlove youā€ and I told him ā€œdon’t say it if you don’t mean itā€. After that I asked him ā€œdo you like meā€ and he said ā€œyesā€ so I asked him ā€œdo you wanna go outā€ but he said ā€œNOā€ on that. I am not sure he is serious or actually means it. We said this conversation as teasing way like we used to. Then I don’t wanna be awkward so I said ā€œI like you as a coworkerā€ and he said the same but both of us a bit awkward. So what do you think, does he like me or he just playing around?

Discussion Flirting with fire..

I am a 55 yo married male who has not had sex in almost 9 yrs, wife hit menapause and she literally chose not to engage. I have tried everything from counseling, to just talk about it all, but she is just happy the way it is and doesn't feel like she should have to engage at all. It kills a lot, being romantic and everything... A divorced Mom in my area went through something the same way but that her husband cheated 6-8 yrs ago and the marriage has been over so we txt and talk about how we feel.

I know it's wrong but I just want to take this person to a hotel and spend the night loving again...She flirts with me and I with her.... But the boyscout in me says you do and you are just as bad as her x.... What do I do?

no, im not doing it so the man has to say ā€œyou are even prettierā€

i think that many men find that weird but i think thats because they bring out the cutie girls girl side of me. or im just trying to seem warm and secure.

i even used to sent guys tiktoks of edits of other women and be like omg she is beautiful.

idk does anyone have any experience with this? i hope im not alone in this hahah

I’m F(19), I only have 2 experience kissing and I don’t think I’ve found someone who knows how to kiss — i don’t even know if im doing it properly LMAO. So.. what are the signs of someone being a bad or a good kisser? Cuz i have a lot of GENUINE questions, ok.

Is it normal for their saliva to be all over my mouth to my nose?
Are we supposed to feel each other’s teeth?
Is it normal for someone to be sucking both upper and lower lip? 😭

Is this the right place to ask…
