I like that they're trying to give everyone a chance to fish.

Threw out a worm and a bobber expecting something common and small. Ended up bringing in a 10 inch brook trout. I didn't even have my net with me had to bring it in the old fashioned way. I ran back to the van and got a net just in case there were more. Ended up with 3 more and a golden shiner at this spot and 3 largemouth at another spot. It was a windy cold day, figures the fish were biting. The trout had black mouths which were interesting, is that normal?

I always struggled to catch on topwater because I didn't have a specific rod for it. So I would always have to choose between topwater or spinnerbait/crankbait which I actually have had fish on recently.
So mentally it helped to buy a 7'10" heavy just for topwater and I got this 17" smallie on a Choppo as my first fish on the new rod. Buzzing rn

Yes, I know that this is a jigging casting rod which isn't the correct rod for this type of fishing. It was on sale for 40 dollars and I wanted something stiff. It also works very effectively on my end. I'll get the proper rod in the future.

Went further upstream my local urban creek than I have in the past and caught a great variety! Water was cool and weather was great. What an awesome morning

Caught a NC citation Bull Drum from a low-key pier in OBX. Somehow managed to land this 46in monster on light tackle. 30lb braid, 30lb hand tied hi-low rig, 2/0 Mustad Demon Perfect Circle hooks. Bait was cut mullet with a shrimp fishbite. Rod was a Team Daiwa 9ft surf, reel was a Daiwa BG MQ 4000. He bent the hook out and nearly spooled me. Reel was hot to touch from the drag. Very lucky to tire him out and drag him in.

Well, okay, so it’s not a PB. But it’s always a good day nonetheless when you’re fishing under a beautiful sky on a sunny day.

So I am from Az coming to check out lake wylie and I’ve never caught a blue catfish before so I’m just looking for some tips for shore fishing them. As idk how different they’re to channels (as I catch plenty in Az)

After a somewhat disappointing day yesterday breaking my rod tip, I ventured back to the canal I was at for a morning session to get used to my replacement rod. Two Zanders caught with the second considerably larger (despite the bad image quality) and a northern pike that was lost due to not slackening off the drag enough before it took a dive. Another trip to the tackle shop is on the agenda after a quick breakfast, more lightweight jigheads and weedless options, as every cast is getting caught on leaves and the usual canal snags.

Was determined not to lose this guy, fought him for about a minute, it was awesome! He struck my spoon about 5 feet from the bank.
