XFCE / Community Is anyone else experiencing lag in Firefox on EndeavourOS XFCE?
I’m using EndeavourOS with the XFCE desktop environment, and I’ve already updated the system to the latest packages.
However, Firefox still feels noticeably laggy for me. Scrolling doesn’t feel as smooth as it used to, and sometimes the browser feels a bit sluggish even when doing simple things.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue recently?
Or is there anything I should check, such as hardware acceleration, graphics drivers, compositor settings, or Firefox settings?
Would appreciate any suggestions or tips. Thanks!

Do you by chance have an Nvidia card? I've made the experience that the GPU clocks down too far during idle moments and results in choppy scrolling when suddenly resuming activity. For me, the fix was installing LACT and setting a higher minimum GPU core clock.

It can be a bad update (on mozilla side)
I suppose you already restarted your computer ?
There is hardware accélération in mozilla options (seems to me)

does hardware accerleration really work?? i have switched the option "use hardware acceleration when available". still no effect. i have nvidia drivers installed. and gpu doesnt seem to be working. it still uses my cpu to render web pages and video.

Which NVIDIA drivers ?
Most of the time we dont want to use the proprietarian ones.

You will have to check the nvidia pilot on the arch wiki
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA
To get the right one

If you use wifi make sure power saver is off, causes so much lag when loading pages for me.

I haven't noticed this, I use Firefox and the XFCE desktop environment on my laptop and it's quite an old install which has been updated (via rolling) regularly for at least 5 years.

Yes, pages are longer to load too. Since v.154-155. I installed Brave and it's very fast. I use it as a daily browser now... 9950X3D, RX 9070XT and 96GB RAM, on 1 Gbit/s fiber optic connection.

I've noticed it in a KDE desktop environment. Only started happening for me in the last 2 weeks or so (though it was like a month from then since I last updated).
