Failure analysis Engineer interview
Hi everyone, I have an upcoming interview for a Failure Analysis Engineer role at a manufacturing services company, and I’d love to hear from those with experience in this field.
I want to understand what key skills and concepts are typically expected for this role.
- What kind of questions should I anticipate in the interview?
- What tools, methodologies, or failure modes should I focus on studying?
- Any specific knowledge I should brush up on?
I appreciate any insights or advice to help me prepare better. Thanks in advance!

No one weighed in, I'm not particularly qualified but I'll try. We talking entry level? I got an entry level manufacturing job offer. They were way more concerned with my willingness to be on call for off-hours and my ability to get along with others than anything technical. Frequent interaction with the machinists / artisans. They wanted to know that I liked the industry. 3D printing was up and coming to produce parts that weren't made anymore. I had to be fine with selling parts to the military.
