I hate it here
I’m in my final year of dental school in the UK. I can’t stand it, I come home almost every day and just cry. I’m not good at anything except for maybe extractions. I can’t even do a basic filling right, I don’t know how to do dentures without guidance, my crown preps are god awful a monkey could probably do better. My knowledge of everything isn’t even that good like I can’t seem to retain the knowledge even when I study so much. And I can’t even quit, I’m not from a wealthy family I can’t go back to uni and do something different, I’ve used up all the loan I could ever have had. I hate it here and I don’t know what to do. I can’t stand going into uni and being told what I’m bad at by every tutor

There are many fields afterwards that aren't clinical practice. You're focusing in the fact that you can't quit, that's why I feels so much like you would. But you wouldn't, because the world out there is wild and difficult, having a profession like dentistry is an immense blessing

I think I can’t stand the idea of being so bad at it and risk of failing, which I currently am

See if you can get a set up at home and order plastic teeth to prep cavities and crowns preps on. Also you will improve tons in your DF1 year. Also watch YouTube videos to learn tricks and tips

Calma! Você vai aprender com a repetição, se permita errar e não fazer nada direito agora… eu sou formado há 10 anos e aprendi fazer com 5 anos depois

I think it’s important to graduate especially If you know you don’t like it and can’t go to university to study all over again. There are many fields after graduation where you don’t have to be inside a mouth! Dental public health, policy making, insurance, pharmaceutical, research, sales etc. A dental degree will give you a good starting salary and you can bloom from there on! Good luck!

Practice makes perfect. I studied abroad, I was awful at most things too. My hands would shake all the time. I kept going and practicing, after 1600 hours of clinical practice I’m confident now preparing for the ore exam. So don’t worry.
Keep going don’t give up :)
