Discussion Exploring DSH
Hi guys, do u have tips on using dsh, since Im new to it / exploring. Like what are the ways to optimize the token usage? Do u install ponytail/rtk/caveman?
Also there is no ask mode? Like what if I will just to ask only. I know there is a presets ( standard, ptc, minimal). Those presets are equal to ask/plan mode?
Thanks.

Actually in default it’s really token efficient

so no need to add ponytail/rtk/caveman(are they plugin/library/package?)

I developed an inventory control bot that includes a web crawler and Telegram integration; the total cost was less than $0.40 in off peak.

for new models i just stick with minimal preset and short prompts to cut tokens quick. ask only works fine that way without extra installs.

-but the minimal is also agent , right ? like can edit in my codebase depending on my prompt?
-I mean for the ask, like in the plan mode we will invoke "/plan", so for the ask, if I type "/ask" no one will show. Regardless if what preset Im using.

standard preset gives better flow for companion style chats without needing ask mode or any addons.

so basically like this
-standard mode-> I will prompt-> the agent will perform or edit my codebase. But IS IT possible also like
-standard mode->. I will prompt, add guardrails like "[Insert my prompt/task]. PS:Im just asking, dont touch any codebase.

i tried ptc preset for straight roleplay asks on a new model and it kept responses tight without any addons or mode switches. saved me a ton of tokens once i stopped overexplaining my prompts.

Run it in a container, because there's no read sandbox. I haven't found a huge need for a plan mode. DeepSeek is remarkably good at respecting prompts to plan first, and other models often get stuck because of DeepSeek harness's requirement to read before editing, which serves as a sort of tricky plan mode guard.

found this on bilibili, a toolkit plugin for DSH that reduces token usage by 50%
op said the next update will reduce token usage by roughly 97% (latest comment in the video)
