Takeover Announcement

Hello and sorry for the wait!!

We know you have some questions. We know things have been hanging in the balance.

As some of you may know, and most of you probably don’t, this sub was recently put up for adoption.

Well as of a week or so ago, me and /u/livinin82 have taken over. Fear not, weary redditors, for we have known each other quite some time, and we have been on Reddit for a while as well. We absolutely recognize /r/DAE as a staple of the beginning of Reddit, as well as a place most of us subscribed to first.

We do not take this lightly, and that’s why we’ve been preparing to make this announcement.

First things first: There are a lot of things in the queue from however long this subreddit has been in a stasis. We are doing our best to work through it and see what is in there worth keeping and what needs to be trashed. Which brings us to our next point.

Second: While sifting through this massive inbox, we witnessed a few, for lack of better terms, concerning post suggestions/topics. I think I speak for everyone here when I say this isn't a place to go out of your way to be edgy. Maybe try other subreddits that are less universally subscribed to. We don’t need more violence or negativity in the world. This will be at our discretion but don’t just post things to shock people, or get a negative reaction. There are many other places for things like that. Maybe try the Instagram comments section.

Third: In the future after we figure out the direction we’re taking this sub, we’d like to entertain the idea of opening up applications for mods. We will be very intentional with screening should we decide to go that far. Keep a lookout here in case we post about it, and if you’re interested, let us know!!

Our main goal here is to appreciate the shared experience. We know this is Reddit and some things will be risqué or a little off color to some extent, and we aren’t prudes ourselves, just make sure to mark NSFW if you are posting something that you know a boss or coworker wouldn’t want to read at work.

With that being said, if you have any suggestions about what we should do with our newly acquired section of the internet, by all means leave it in the comments. We will be a little scattered in the beginning as we have our own personal lives, and other coals in the fire as well. We look forward to upholding the community that many others have worked to build, as well as making sure people feel safe and happy here. Be kind to each other, even if you disagree with someone. And if you have an ancient post you wanna resubmit feel free.

This is a fresh start for this sub so we’re here for it.

DAE feel repulsed by the idea and having anal sex?

I’m a single woman and have casual sex. The vast majority of men I’ve talked to and played with have asked if I’ve tried anal. “Yes, a few times and I didn’t enjoy it”. I’ve never been enthusiastic about it and only tried because my first bf asked me… Personally the whole deal is a hassle and not worth it to me.

Being clean and empty, warming up with toy so it doesn’t hurt AND when we do it I feel 0% pleasure, I just feel gross and being used, like my asshole is some thing to be conquered one day, another thing to tick off their sex list. I’ve tried enough and always say no now. Any time a new play partner mentions wanting anal with me and how it’s a shame I don’t like anal etc I just feel repulsed by them.

DAE get weird synchronicities that make you feel like you’re living in a simulation?

As the title says, WEIRD synchronicities have been happening lately to me, that’s making me feel like I’m in the matrix/simulation.

Some of it is so weird that I just don’t see how we’re not living in one. Some examples in the past 3 months

- Talking to my sister that I’m saw glad she’s an emergency medicine PA and not a dermatology PA because I have so many medical questions (as I’m on the phone telling her this) no joke my dermatologist group calls to leave a voicemail about my annual checkup. Like WHAT.

- listening to a specific song in car (on my Spotify) and I head into grocery and that same song is playing right when I get in. No I was not on a radio. I actively chose the song.

- thinking about something specific about my newborn and seeing literally someone having the same specific question and making a post on it as the first thing I see on my homepage on r/newborns. I never even typed out my specific question.

-lastly, telling my husband that I didn’t know you could eat kiwi skin, and later that night a content creator that I LOVE watching posts him eating kiwi skin. Like what the heck.

I can’t make this up guys. It’s causing me to obsess and go crazy. There’s no explanation for this. I’m going insane bc of these weird things happening.

DAE put off going to the bathroom until they’re done doing something, as a “reward”?

I’ve noticed I’ve done this for the longest time, and only realized it now. I’ll finish doing dishes/baking something/etc before I let myself go to the bathroom, number 1 and number 2. It’s more satisfying to me I guess to wait? Does anyone else do this, or do they do it for another reason than I? (I already know what some of you might say, DON’T 😭😭😭)

DAE feel like their hands aren't theirs?

It's kinda hard to explain but I'll do my best. I have noticed this usually happens when I'm anxious but it can happen anytime. It's really disorienting, especially if it happens while driving (and it just did, which is why I'm worried and asking this to begin with).

So basically my hands sometimes randomly start to feel like they aren't mine, so to speak. I can still physically feel sensation in them, but it feels different. It feels like I'm holding someone else's hand, except there's nothing in my hand and it's my hands that feel like that?? I'm not sure if that makes sense. I can move them, it isn't a movement issue or anything bc I still have full control, I feel disconnected somehow. Like they feel like they're just floating a few inches away from where my wrists are. And I feel hyper aware of them in moments like these. It really freaks me out, especially because when the hand thing happens, nothing feels real around me. Stuff starts to feel like it's too big and I'm small, and places I've been to suddenly feel like I've never been there before. And the stupid hand thing makes it even worse. Am I going nuts, what is wrong with me 😭

DAE think this is going too far?

My future involves becoming somebody’s customer. Got a fortune cookie with my Chinese takeout and the little slip had a sales pitch on it. I would’ve happily taken “good things are coming” or some nonsense about being patient. But a cookie trying to sell me something? Who looked at that tiny piece of paper and thought we needed another marketing space?

DAE think some redditors are just rude for no reason? And then when you clap back you are quite literally condemned to hell with all the downvotes you get

Genuine Question, like I’ve seen this across multiple communities and it has happened to me a few times as well.

I mean ofc people have the right to their own opinions but whats the psychology behind calling someone a dumbass for asking a valid question, and then the person who got called a dumbass defends themselves and then they just get flamed by the entire community 💀

If you have a weak heart then I’m sure reddit has made it a lot stronger cuz damn.

DAE make their own iced coffee, pour it into a reused takeout cup, and pretend they bought a coffee?

I asked 2 ppl in my life and one can totally relate while the other thinks I’m weird. Is this just growing-up-poor behavior?

DAE feel bad for male birds when their fancy feathers and dances are ignored?

I know that the female birds don’t owe the males anything and they probably have several different male suitors to choose from, so I do get it. And yet, when I see a male bird with his fancy tail opened out and his crest fluffed up, once proud, now just dancing away in desperation, whilst the female just completely ignores him, I feel so sorry for him. They look so sad and forlorn when they have to flatten their crest back down and fold away their tail, having been publicly rejected. And the female birds don’t even leave, they just keep pecking around on the ground, whilst the males make absolute tits of themselves (pardon the bird pun). It’s especially bad in peacocks, seeing as they make SUCH a spectacle of themselves, only to have to slink away by himself at the end. They should organise bird discos, so they are all dancing and prancing, and not just Harold, who always has to shoot his shot, but is starting to lose hope after his 8th year of preening himself at the end of the night.

My wife says I’m weird, but I feel like I can’t possibly be the only one out there who wants to tell male birds that there are plenty more birds in the trees and actually their tail feathers are rather impressive.

DAE from a small town find big cities surreal?

I'm 23 and grew up in a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada. where life is pretty quiet compared to the big cities.

My girlfriend and I are in a long-distance relationship, and she lives in Ottawa. She grew up in the city and had never really been outside of it until I brought her up to visit my area. Surprisingly, she actually enjoys how slow-paced and quiet everything is up here!

Meanwhile, whenever I visit her in Ottawa, I can't help feeling like I'm walking around a movie set. The architecture is crazy to me, there are people EVERYWHERE, and even something like a three-storey shopping mall feels wild. I've also been to Toronto multiple times throughout my life, and I get the exact same feeling there. The massive buildings, fancy cars, and overall atmosphere make everything feel almost fictional.

Even the people seem different to me. I'm not used to seeing so many different ethnicities and cultures in one place. Up north, the communities are much smaller and less diverse, so going somewhere like Ottawa or Toronto and seeing people from all sorts of backgrounds, speaking different languages and wearing different styles of clothing, is a huge contrast to what I'm used to.

There's also a different mentality and overall aesthetic that I'm not familiar with. The trendy hairstyles, fashionable clothing, and the way people carry themselves make me feel like I've stepped into a completely different culture.

It's like I'm walking around in a movie about a lifestyle completely different from my own. I know these places are real and millions of people live like this every day, but coming from a small rural town, the sheer scale and diversity of everything feels almost unreal sometimes.

It's not necessarily a bad feeling. I'm just fascinated by how different our everyday lives can be despite living in the same province.

Does anyone else who grew up in a small town or rural area experience this when visiting big cities, or am I just weird? lol

DAE: Feel their brain when they are learning new information.

I dabble in software engineering for fun. Often, when I am reading about new concepts, I start to feel like the whole world is opening up, and I am learning something that is big and important and will change how much I can do. I get excited. My brain loses any fog. But then it feels like the brain is getting too big.. and I start to feel very anxious. It makes it harder to keep learning, and I stop.

It feels like when you finally catch that tunnel surf wave, and as you feel yourself entering the tunnel and the ectasy of being propelled forward by the wave because you have caught it and the reverense of entering this amazing tunnel space excites you and overwhelmes you. Everything in my being always tries to get me to bail.

DAE find different coffees make them 💩 faster than some others?

Is the fiber content of the beans really that different among commercial coffees? I go to this one chain diner and I immediately get the 💩 from drinking their coffee. But when I go to a mom and pop diner in town, it's a normal waiting period. At home, it takes me usually a couple hours to have to go. Anyway, DAE experience this?

DAE in a committed relationship get intense, shifting fixations on friends or coworkers?

I’m introverted and have never been diagnosed with anything but I don’t always feel completely neurotypical. I’m also in a committed marriage, but I’ve noticed a pattern.

At times, I become unusually invested in a friend or coworker. It can start as admiration or a strong wish for connection, then sometimes feel more romantic or sexual in my imagination. The intensity fluctuates, and it can feel a bit like limerence. I don’t act on it or want to cross boundaries, but I worry about what the pattern means and how to handle it like an adult.

My wife is hopelessly focused on work, and sometimes I feel like my affection isn’t fully reciprocated. I’m not looking to blame her. I want to understand what might be going on and find ways to protect my marriage while dealing with these feelings.

If this was limerence it would go away when coworkers leave, but my focus shifts and it keeps happening. I usually admire people who are friendly and smart/skilled.

Anyone?

DAE can close one eye and freely move the other one, but not the other way ?

Trying to be a lil clearer

Closing my right eye, the left one can roll freely or so in all directions.

But closing my left eye already asks an effort by itself, that’s visible on my face.
Moreover, with left eye closed, right eye can barely roll a few degrees up or down, nothing towards left or right or diagonally. If I put a lot of effort in it, right eye closed in a blinky way.

Is it just me ?
