If the phone OS integrates the wallet inside, instead of making people download a 3rd party app, it probably becomes more secure than the hardware wallets

I like to hate on hardware wallets as much as the next guy but a phone is only more secure if it’s air-gapped. Modern smartphones have tamper-proof subsystems like Secure Enclave and Knox Vault but an always-on device running over 7 million lines of code including thousands of dependencies adds all types of attack vectors. Your everyday phone is great as a hot wallet but nowhere near as secure as a dedicated signer.

Integrating a wallet into the phone OS could make crypto transactions as simple as sending a text.

Zero fee here just means Samsung is eating the cost, USDC settlement on Solana is already sub cent so the fee was never the blocker. Getting a stablecoin wallet baked into Samsung Pay by default is the part that moves volume, that's distribution to hundreds of millions of phones.

Sounds pretty damn cool but what 60 countries? With new EU legislation and US also being kinda strict, probably not them?
