Advice Taking a break

Taking a smoking break for a bit. Had a few things happening the past few years so was having a smoke in the evenings a fair bit. Still worked, lived life as normal but now just want some time way (temporarily). To those of you who took a break, what did you find? What activities did you get into? I'm focusing more on n improving my diet and getting back to a thinner self so eating munchies was not helping me. Life was just not good for a time but everything good now. Welcome your thoughts/advice...

Hiking in the mountains. It's definitely the right time of year to get into it too.

Thank you! Might try more sea swims as well (Dalkey beach).. and watch some good documentaries (books take me a year to finish...)

We will do it for a month and then have a fun trip to the Dam early next year. All good things in moderation. Will let you know for sure. Am enjoying it now this weekend before I take my break Sunday

No, there's time when I was in the depths of stress and it helped you know. My friend suggested so we are both doing it. For me, it was nice just to sit out the back of the gaff and have a few drags but it'll be good to clear the mind. Instead of lighting up, just getting some steps in after work, eating healthier etc.

Personally id regularly take odd 1-2 month breaks but decided to quit overall for personal reasons, at first its definitely boring with a feeling that each day now has a few extra hours in it. After a couple of weeks you can definitely feel yourself balance out again especially if you fill the time doing little things you enjoy like reading playing video games etc etc. Overtime you’ll almost completely forget about the weed as if it was just leaving behind a small daily habit.

I would have considered myself a heavy smoker at the time that I quit.

Nobody prepared me for the dreams! So vivid! I must have dreamt during my smoking era, but I could never remember them.

I decided to keep a notebook and pen beside my bed and just write it all down. No matter how random it seemed.

It was a mess at first. But after a while I was able to match details from different nights to paint a fuller picture in my conscious mind of 2 or 3 reoccurring scenarios that often played out in my dreams.

Before long I could recognise them in my sleep when they occurred. Lucid dreams are mental!

I used to really look forward to going to bed and seeing where I’d end up.

Still off the smoke, but haven’t bothered with that again.

Best of luck with the break! I think being stoned must makes you satisfied with being bored. Find a new hobby. Eventually the brain just rewires itself and you forget about it.

A little bit of cbd flower at the start made it easy for me, good 3 months off and with the tolerance reset you’d struggle to ever smoke daily again if you don’t do the dog on it.

I'm on week two of a t-break, and I have to say, CBD is a lifesaver for me. It helps with anxiety and pain, so it eases things in that regard.

Best of luck bud, I'm starting into my own break now. Bit anxious as its been a while but it's needed. Don't have much advice or help for ya, just piggybacking here to get some advice myself!

I took a 6 month break and really got back into the gym and healthy living. Started cooking properly again and going for walks. I felt more present in my relationships and just calmer in myself. Smoking again now but not every day anymore - more like every second weekend. Good on you for giving it a go!

You will eat a lot of good food and still be craving more! Enjoy!

I took a break for a couple weeks and took up not sleeping well, which gave me loads of time to feel tired.

I do a T break every third month, all probably been said but hiking, cycling or gym work if that’s what you prefer. I find doing puzzles helps aswell but maybe that’s just because I’m in my 30s. 😂 you’ll be alright my friend, get past the first 3 days and it’s smooth sailing! All the best 🙌

I started dance classes and language classes on my breaks. Quick and fun way at losing munchies weight, and get your brain back ticking

Day 1 done ✅ ready to go to sleep in a bit. Was having a few tokes on a "vape" Saturday eve. Few smokes after that Sat night and yesterday. Got a dose of a cold today (no thanks to the lad sitting behind me on the bus coughing his lungs up) and messed up AC on the bus too lol. But a good first day done. Appreciate all of ye for the support and wise words. ❤️ GRMA
