In Person Selling Will you help me with my first Festival Booth??

Hello! I've decided to step out of my comfort zone and finally do some crochet sales at a festival happening in October in my town.
The problem is, I have no idea what to make!
For those of you that I've had successful booths, what kind of things did you stock in it? What kind of things do people like? I tend to make niche amigurumi, so I don't know what the general public really likes. I've attached some examples of my style and skill level
Thanks in advance!

In Person Selling First booth selling crochet. Advice?

(Included some of my work for fun!). I have crocheted for years. I've also helped my father have a booth at craft shows and festivals for years, though he sells vinyl art and stickers. I decided to try to have my own booth at a few shows this summer. I've been making as much inventory as I possibly can and have kept about 3 weeks or so in between shows so I can restock inbetween. I feel rather confident in selling in the sense I know the style, how to make a booth appealing, so on. But since I've never sold clothing/ crochet before, I'm wondering if anyone who does sell at festivals/craft shows has any advice? Anything you didn't think of that surprised you after you started selling? How much inventory do you have at a time? Any advice is welcome! Thank you

Tie dying. I've been Tye dying for a few years now and I've gotten to where I feel pretty good about my designs.I would like to sell them but I don't want to go into a big business because I don't want the commitment. I've tried selling a few in my neighborhood on facebook , but that doesn't work too well for me. What are some suggestions on how I might sell my tie die online?

Thankyou

In Person Selling Starting my crochet business

So for the past two and a half years I’ve mostly crocheted as a hobby and for gifts. But recently I’ve been really wanting to start my own crochet business. I have a close friend who’s in charge of a huge event that does markets pretty often through the year. They are waiving my booth fee. I decided to take a spot for this October! I’ve been crocheting out of my butt for it, lol. How do I get started? LLC? No LLC? Insurance? I dont know where to go next other than an EIN and a vendors license. Also will be selling plushies. I planned on having disclaimers that these aren’t intended for kids unsupervised as they have small parts but unsure if that’s enough or not? Thanks! :)

In Person Selling Med student saving for my graduation party, need advice on selling crochet to help me achieve that dream

For context, I am a med student, and my graduation is in five year's time. Our student organizing comitee and the estimates for the contracts are coming out. The cost for the graduation ceremonies and parties are going to be around 6000 dollars. I already want to start saving up for that so, by the end of college, I have that cash to pay for everything.

It isn't really even for me, I don't care about lavish parties. Don't dance. Don't drink. I sleep by 10p.m every night... but it is really important for my mum to have it, and I wouldn't like for her to have to deal with the cost to live that dream.

I was wondering if I could use crochet, something I am decently swift at, to help me achieve that goal. And, since I never sold anything, I was wondering if you people could give me some advice in regards to all that.

  1. What products have you seen sell well? Specially for the college student demographic, since it's where I spend most of my day.

  2. How do I know how to price my projects?

  3. Should I make products beforehand and try to sell them or should I make them on demand?

Thanks in advance!

(I will be also posting this to r/crochethelp just in case this is not the right subreddit to post and it gets banned. Sorry for the trouble admins!)

In Person Selling First Market Help!

I'm in Illinois and I have my first market coming up. I didn't think this is anything I would ever do, but one of my friends kept encouraging me to do one as I spend almost all my free time crocheting and just have a bin of finished items.

What are some things that are best sellers? are there things I should avoid? I don't have any social media for my crochet, should I?

I'm nervous that nothing is going to sell and its going to make me discouraged to make things for anyone in the future. So i just need some good advice from avid market go-ers.

And how much is an reasonable price for things like this? I always get told I'm not asking enough for them.

A list of the things I have:

Hat
Dish Cloths
Drawstring Bag
Pot Holder
Airpod/Headphone Holder
Bandana
Mini Jellyfish

In Person Selling First ever flea market booth prep — help & any advice / tips / tricks welcomed&appreciated!

Hi everyone!
I am looking for ideas on things I can make for a local flea market in the upcoming weeks.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never done this before - so far I’ve just been making some things for my family & I, but I would love to make a little side money to help fuel the hobby/love (def not expecting to make a FT job off of this anytime soon, if ever)

So far I’ve been mostly experimenting with little amigurumi, but I don’t think I can just make a bunch of Winnie the Pooh bears and call it good lol.

I live in the East Tennessee area - so think Bible Belt, farmers, tourists, etc.

I wasn’t sure if I should try to make some holiday themed items, or maybe keep them more generic as far as theme goes and make a mod podge of household items & small plushies?

I would prefer things that I don’t have to block/starch, as I haven’t done that before (but I am about to venture into a granny square blanket for my in laws here soon - wish me luck lol).

Should I try to stick to one lane? (I.e. all household, all plushies, etc) or should I dabble in a few of the ‘hot’ items to showcase variety?

I might be thinking way too much about this, but I just want to try to help supplement a little income for my family before the holidays and my daughter’s birthday. Being a SAHM I do have time to knock some items out, I just want to make sure I am picking the ‘right’ items 🤓

Any other helpful tips & tricks for my first flea market would be appreciated as well!!

In Person Selling Market Prep

I'm thinking about having my own market/selling booth for the first time, and i'm young, so this is really exciting to me, so I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me, or has kept track of any best sellers, or even worst sellers that i shouldn't waste my time on, if you've sold in person before. I would appreciate it a lot, thank you!

In Person Selling Crochet Stall Items

Hello, I am a crocheter looking to sell at School Summer Fairs and was wondering what kids in the age bracket 6-10 would like. I'm selling primarily at Primary Schools [I'm British] and am kinda stumped on small/pocket sized items that kids will just grab and want. Any pattern links would be appreciated too :)

In Person Selling Should I sell amigurumi gifts alongside crochet bouquets at holiday markets?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm selling crochet flower bouquets, poinsettias, and wreaths this year at a couple local holiday markets, and I was wondering if I should include amigurumi toys/ornaments as well? I'm on schedule with flower and plant production, and I'm pretty sure if I start now, I'll be able to have a couple dozen ready in time. I'm not sure if it would be totally out of place next to flowers or fit in with the Christmas gift theme. It's my first time selling crochet at markets, so I'm curious what more experienced people think!

For reference, I'm thinking like little santas, reindeer, and other Christmas themed toys/ornaments.

Lily pictured bc it's the first flower I designed myself 🌸

In Person Selling Crochet booth for wearables and not plushies?

Id love to work towards an inventory to have a booth at a ren faire next year. Im not a a plushy crochet artist, I want to make clothing and accessories. Maybe something like a boutique pop up? Would that be a good idea for a ren faire?

Im thinking shawls, dress covers, wearable herbs, skirt hikes, dice pouches, things of that sort.

In Person Selling Why do crocheters only sell plushies at markets?

Whenever I watch YouTube videos of crocheters sharing their market success stories, they always have plushies as their main inventory. Does anyone know why this is? Are plushies the only type of crocheted item that will sell well at markets? If so, I will make them, I'm just wondering if I should bother stocking up on my normal inventory (hats, scarves, bags, sweaters) as well. Thanks!

Hey guys, so as the title says I’m gonna have my first market in a couple of months (August) and want to know what kinds of things are very popular/sell quickly at your guys’ markets?

For reference, I mostly make amigurimi—so keychains, desk buddies, etc. I’ll include a couple pix below. I can also make plushies with fluffy/chunky yarn too.

In Person Selling Is a 50% commission for selling at an event & a salon too high?

Last time I went to my local salon (Fri June 19) I chatted with one of the owners about selling some items there. They said to send some pictures of what I make & mentioned I could possibly sell with them at a event this Sunday (June 28). I sent pictures that same Friday, but I hadn't heard anything from them so yesterday (Thur June 25) I messaged to get confirmation. After I'd fallen asleep for the night, they responded & said they like my crafts & I could sell at the salon & at their booth on Sunday.

Today (June 26) I messaged again asking about if they use their own POS or if I could just bring my qr codes & what commission they take. I know I should have asked sooner but I've been rushing to make extra items all week for the event, so I forgot. They just messaged back & they charge a 50% commission on all items.

I wouldn't be paying any rent to sell at the salon or event, but I still feel like that's really high. Is that a normal percentage to take?? I've never been a vendor at a booth or salon, so I was kinda thrown when they said they take HALF the listed price.

I have only sold at the coffee shop I used to work at which charged 10% commission. As well as a one day pop-up sale at a local book store that, very generously, does not charge commission for hosting. So, I dont know what is standard.

I'm probably going to turn down selling at the salon, I just can't afford that big of a profit cut & I really don't want to jack up prices that much to accommodate for it. But what do I do about the event? It's in TWO DAYS. They said they've got lots of stuff that they're already selling at the event but would make some room for me, so would it be that bad if I backed out? Or is it worth it to sell at the event just to get my work out & get a little money?

Also, for context, I lost my job in Feb. I have been applying to jobs non-stop since but haven't gotten a single job offer, so I could really really use some money. But I feel like I'm getting ripped off. :( But maybe I'm wrong & 50% is normal.

So to recap my questions, is 50% commission too high? Is it worth it to cut profit on months worth of work just to get a little money? Lastly, would I be an asshole if I backed out of the event?

Advice appreciated. Thanks

In Person Selling Applied to a vendor market

I applied to a night market and was accepted. Before paying, I went back to look at the vendor list. There’s already 2 crochet vendors. I sent an email asking the organizer how many vendors total, and how many were specifically crochet vendors. They replied saying there’s 15 vendors total, with three specializing in crochet (crochet plushies, baby clothes & blankets, bookmarks/ & book holders aside & sewn items). Im thinking about passing. 4 vendors, out of 15 seem to be oversaturated?
