Anime/Manga Names for a sleeping god

There's a sleeping god in my story about magical heroes (a mix on magical girls/boys and superheroes) I'm working on that's responsible for giving magical powers to the characters, both the heroes and villains. I'm looking for names that fit a sleeping god with a neutral attitude.

3 shorter names out of a longer name

Hi all! Basically, I'm struggling to name one of my characters; in a nutshell, her story is that when she died, she split her soul 3 ways in order to break free from her oppressive destiny and fool the Gods

1 part of her soul remained in the human world as an energetic seamstress/tailor
the 2nd also remained in the world as a stubborn priestess

And finally, the third part of her soul went to the afterlife
________________________________________________________________

And basically I wanted her to have a long name that can easily be broken into 3 shorter names to name the parts of her soul.
Eg: her name is Elizabeth

Soul 1 is called "Ellie", Soul 2 is called "Lisa" and soul 3 is called "Beth"

Note the spelling does not have too match the main girls full name, as long as the shortened ones are actual names

And essentially I want a name like that, but of (preferably) Eastern European origin and meaning related to destiny, though I understand if you can't find one that fits all these categories. I'm not picky on how it sounds

Names I liked: Syntyche, Eutychia (I know those two are related), Moira (tbh, the reason why didn't go w/ this is because I didn't want names relating to Gods, especially with the commodification of Hellenism), Aisa, Bedisa (I know most of these are Greek, but, Idm any Eastern European languages).
Syntyche.

I've also been looking at a lot of Mongolian names that end with "Zayaa" (meaning Fate), and while I like all of them, I can't find ones that I can divide 3 ways

I have a question about my book

I have an idea for a book, but I can't decide on the name of one of the characters who is important to the plot. I'm considering two names. One of them (which I like the most) is somewhat similar to an already existing character in a popular book. The only thing that is the same between my character's name and the one from the popular book is the first syllable in the name. The first three letters are simply the same. It might not seem like a big deal, but if someone were really insistent, would they accuse me of plagiarism? I really like this name and wouldn't want to change it, but would it be better to change it to something that's 100% different from the others and not be accused of similarity? Please help me decide 🙏

How important is it for names to go together?

Sorry for the vague title.

I’m writing a fantasy novel. There are characters from a few different neighbouring countries. Some characters are related (e.g. siblings).

For immersion, how important is it for names to “go together”, as in match in terms of etymology and sound good for families?

e.g. if one character is named Wesley which is a name of Old English origin, should Wesley’s siblings also have Old English names? And if Wesley’s girlfriend from another country is called Emmeline, which apparently is a French/German name, then should Emmeline’s family also have names of similar origin?

Real World - Modern What would a tamil transfem/hijra in the 2000s in India realistically name herself?

Title.

She transitions in the 2000s as a teen, which is why it's important for her name, but the story itself actually takes place here in the 20s. I've been calling her Kali as a place-holder name, but I don't think it would make a lot of sense for a Tamil character (iirc Tamil Hindus have different names for the deities) and also I don't think that "Kali" as a character would name herself something so on the nose when deciding her new name. She's ethnically and linguistically Tamil, and from a Hindu background. I don't know what background she would be caste-wise if it could be relevant, but I have her as having grown up as at least middle class, but privileged by the standards of her immediate, poorer community.

Knightly names

I have a character who is a knight (duh)

His names used to be Julius & as I have developed his character I just don't quite think it suits his character anymore & I'm hitting a sort of dead end with other possible names atm.

A bit of background without crazy detail is that he is actually cursed with a sort of immortality. He used to be a right hand to the "Mad King" centuries ago & following divine intervention into the king's tyranny he had been cursed for following orders. Not intervening as he should've given his rank and oaths. So he assumes the curse is placed & he is to atone for his sins. In what way? He doesn't know.

He has stood by many kings in the lineage as a right hand man. Hoping he could make things right through guidance. He has always been masked in some way. Tall & imposing. There are legends surrounding him. No one in the general populace knows for sure HE IS the same knight who has always been there (but it is ofc)

The curse has slowed his aging in some ways. Debating on how to possibly add other sorts afflictions? Idk

Anyway in the story's current day & age it's actually more sense not to hide his identity as he has for centuries. Ppl do not know the face of the mysterious knight. His appearance is that of an older man. Possibly late 30's-40's. A bit grizzled (he so, so tired lol ) Chiseled features. Tan skin, longer, dark hair with some grey. Red eyes. Very tall & has a aura of pure authority.

As said, his name was Julius and idk. I'm not feeling it much anymore. I want something maybe.... stronger sounding?

Other names within the story, to give maybe an idea of atmosphere. It is a fantasy setting

Male names

• Olberic

• Andreas

• Sigurd

• Shadus

• Grisham

• Valerius

Female names

• Helena

• Sparrow

• Rada

• Makeela

• Callista

• Francesca

Any ideas appreciated. I'm just trying to brainstorm atm

Fake Names

I'm writing a book where a public official has to protect his kids by sharing their fake names, he is also worried about people tracing his kids through public birth records. Would it make more sense for the fake names to be less or more common than their actual names?

Rui, Ruin, or Ryo?

So, I created my oc a while ago and started to write my book...

My male oc's name had always been Rui, short for his nickname Ruiner. Recently I've been thinking about Ruin which sounds better but I love both and don't know what to choose.

The problem is I consulted the high council otherwise known as my sisters and they said they hated them BOTH. His real name is Ryokov and they told me to just do Ryo, but I wanna save it for a reveal. It's sorta a battle between aesthetics and storytelling lol...

(For extra context the guy's very aloof and cold-blooded, so from a story point he's not going to tell my other oc's his name so easily...)

Need a Name for a Hitman character

I am looking for a name like "the _______" for my character.
He is a man in his mid 30s (1978) who runs a drycleaning buisness in the outer edge of Sydney, which is his coverup to arrand contracts for his clients. His appearance is well kempt with a stylish beard and very clean clothes, which fits his combat style, which is very to-the-point. He takes the shot, and doesn't want to make the pain longer than it should be.

Looking for a name like John but not quite

Hii!!! The title probably sounded really weird but I can explain it!.. Hopefully!....

I've got a fantasy world on my hands, and in it there's a guy who is a real try-hard, he tries to be cool and mysterious, and in this attempt he started going by Orfaeus (basically alternate version of the name Orpheus), but I am looking for a real name for him, and i want it to be really common, short and simple, sort of like John, but with a fantasy flair to it. If anyone has a fitting name suggestion I'll be very grateful! Thank you in advance!!

  • Hannah
  • Lauren
  • Diana
  • Natalie
  • Victoria "Vicky"
  1. A 15 year old boy with the surname Lambert, with two sisters named Melanie and Ashley. The names I'm looking at here are:
  • Austin

  • Christian
  • Brandon
  • Joseph "Joey"

Which names go best with their respective siblings?

Need Help

Hi so I'm trying to write a book and one of the things I'm looking for when I'm writing it is symbolism with various things such as names. The main character is gonna be someone who doesn't know who their real parents are and is on a journey to find out who they are essentially. So when the readers are introduced to the main character, their fake name would mean 'lost' or 'wanderer' and then when they find out who their parents are and thus their real name, it'll mean the opposite like 'found.'

I'm also still thinking about whether they'll be a man or woman in the story so I'm open to any names.

Real World - Modern I’m writing a one act and I need a name for a girl that is tragic

The one act will end with the suicide of the charter so I’m trying to find a name that could reflect that or even themes of depression. I’m also not a pose to a contradictory name that’s like overly positive if anyone has an idea for that.

I also would prefer if the name sounded kind of modern and not that of a god since that’s a lot of the ones google suggests.

Thank you!

Need a bunch of element-centered names

The rough idea of the story has 8 elemental warriors in a world similar to ours, just a little supernatural and tweaked timelines here and there. I need the first (and, if possible, last?) names of -
Flame warrior (male), water warrior (female), earth warrior (male), wind warrior (female), frost warrior (male), thunder warrior (male), light warrior (male), dark warrior (male), and a mentor-type figure (male/female; I haven't really decided, and it doesn't change the story much).
The names should ideally be loosely tied to their element, whether it's the origin of the name or the atmosphere the name has. Thanks in advance!
