This isn't racism. It's prejudice. And it's right.
I'm Islamophobic. Not because I was born that way. Not because my parents raised me to "hate Muslims". I don't hate them. I'm Islamophobic because I have two eyes, two ears, and I value living in a high-trust society.
I came by my prejudice through my own lived experiences and observations and, like Katy, concluded Islam is not compatible with Western values.
Of course, there's a large swath of Canadians who would already consider what I've written here hate speech. Some may call those people leftists, or woke, but I believe that indirect labels are an obstacle to understanding. I call them post-modernists—because at their core, these people believe that the truth is subjective and up to interpretation. This is why they can call themselves Red Tories one second, and deny that a woman is an adult human female the next.
One of the worst things post-modernists (pomos) have done is brainwashed themselves into believing that all prejudice is a moral failure and that all discrimination is an objective evil. This is because they believe what they are told will make them sound the most virtuous: that diversity is Canada's greatest strength—minus the privileged founding peoples, and also Jews if they support Israel (this arrived in the 2023 Queers for Palestine Expansion Pack).
But prejudice is not a moral failure. Discrimination is not an objective evil. These are natural blockades to cultures that would demand our conversion, destroy our institutions, and do us harm. The shared prejudice of a nation keep that nation safe—and as Quebec has inspiringly proven, also maintains culture and character.
It is a natural right to form and hold negative opinions about the philosophies and cultures that our eyes, ears, and very essences tell us are a danger to public safety and social cohesion. It is ok to expect assimilation of those who have lived here for years while benefiting from our society.
Our governments admit the danger we are in every day through their actions. Look around the waterfront or the public square in your city. Look for the anti-terror bollards, the thousands of little monuments to the folly of inclusion and mass migration. This is how governments and the private market attempt to solve a problem we never had before the pomo "centre/left" began conflating all prejudice with racism.
To paraphrase Edmund Burke, the vacuum left by our discarded prejudices have been filled with danger. We amongst increasing islamism, criminal gangs like Bishnoi, and sectarian conflict over Punjab. To call it "racist" or "unacceptable" to point out the real dangers these things pose is something out of 1984.
We can't stop David Eby from calling for Marrifield's resignation. But we can ask the Doerkson campaign to stand by her remarks. Hopefully other conservatives stand by her as well.
If you're a voter in BC and you agree with what I've written here, consider writing a few words of support to the campaign.
If we deserve safety in our own communities; if we want our children to inherit our institutions, our rights, and our provincial cultures; if we want to be a nation instead of a post-national state, then we must defend our prejudices and those whom express them.
Perhaps more importantly, we must defend the very concept of prejudice itself.
