The Riders got carved up like Thanksgiving turkey today. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Thank god we’re not playing the Redblacks because I’m convinced we’d give them their first win..

Game Thoughts:
1. Im not as doomer as the rest of the fanbase but man this team has been a tough watch the second half of the season. 6-2 start to the season followed by a 2-6 run…OUCH, what a collapse;
2. People are complaining about the offence but they aren’t the issue. We’ve been hit hard by the injury bug, especially in the receiving core and Harris still having a career year despite that;
3. That being said it seems like every game we’re getting into track meets where Sask settles for FG tries and the opposition scores 7. We need more drives getting finished;
4. The defence on the other hand has been horrible. I’m fully on board to fire DC Bell;
5. Silver lining is that we don’t need to play Ottawa again this season so we won’t be their only win of the year…
6. Rider fans, are we cheering for Kid Canada and the lions or Fajardo and the Elks in the playoffs??

Too much Grey Cup history with Montreal to cheer for them, so I'll take whoever has a better chance at beating them (currently seems like BC).

Personally if we miss playoffs I'm fully rooting for the Elks. Fajardo I've always had a soft spot for, and the Elks really do deserve a grey cup after what they went through the past decade. Lions would be alright too, I guess. Though ideally we get back up in the last two games and somehow crawl our way to a second Grey Cup in a row. Not holding my breath though!

I have no idea what the defence plan is. It seems every play the riders are 5-10 yards off the receivers or line and have to move in to make the tackle. There’s no contest on the ball. I think there was twice this game we had a guy actually make a play defending the pass. Can’t win shit that way. This score should have been 60+ for the als. Only reason it wasn’t was a few dropped passes. Every game the d line gets close and allows the other qb to scramble and unload a 15 yard completion. The defence is a horrible.

I've learned my lesson. I will never cheer for another non-Rider Western team again.

100% cheering for Edmonton now. Not only for Cody but SK hometown guy Boyko

5

u/StewieRayVaughan Alouettes 1d ago

What about cheering for Alexander the Great and the Better Philpot

I'm cheering for Hamilton. Whoops - that will have to wait until next year.

Hamilton looked so good before Bo went down... Just a gut punch to the whole league...

Go Elks!

Genuinely the only hope I think the West has is that the Grey Cup is in Calgary and not any of the East cities lmao

7

u/bismuth12a Blue Bombers 1d ago

Our playoff hopes are looking pretty good now

Nothing like traveling to see your team get an asswhuppin’! Still love my Riders regardless!

Met a cool ass BC fan today so I’m gonna go ahead and root for them.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Copying what someone said as the game thread was locked:

"I’m curious what happens to the Als with the new rule changes and USports, rightfully, telling the CFL to pound sand on the new dimensions."

Anyone have a guess???

6

u/thrubeniuk Blue Bombers 1d ago

The CFL is reportedly paying for the new field. McGill isn’t going to turn that down.

-3

u/Onanadventure_14 Xmas might as well come on Labour Day 1d ago

Same as Calgary, Winnipeg and Saskatchewan

11

u/Electroflare5555 Blue Bombers 1d ago

Winnipeg, Calgary, and Sask all have painted lines, it takes an hour to switch between the two field dimensions

10

u/laxvolley Blue Bombers 1d ago

Would be better if the league abandoned that stupid idea while there is still time

2

u/Powerful_Ad_2506 Roughriders 1d ago

Plus Regina can play at Liebel field.

1

u/xJeffx1979 Caused the Winnipeg Dynasty 1d ago

Sask doesn't, but I'm guessing the new turf will.

1

u/Onanadventure_14 Xmas might as well come on Labour Day 1d ago

Alouettes need new turf so there’s will be painted next year too

4

u/Izzno Alouettes 1d ago

Since USports said they're not following, I don't see why McGill would change the turf for painted.

5

u/WackyRacketeer 1d ago

Because they get new turf for free, and they desperately need new turf.

1

u/Izzno Alouettes 1d ago

Who's paying, the Als? The league?

3

u/WackyRacketeer 1d ago

The League apparently

Absolute no brainer for the University.

0

u/HomerSPC PhD in Rankinology 1d ago

Sask does not have painted lines.

6

u/Electroflare5555 Blue Bombers 1d ago

Next season with the new turf you will

9

u/Nilkz Roughriders 1d ago

If we could just ignore the entire second half, that would be great.

16

u/Probably_Know_Me 1d ago

Josh bell sure did

4

u/General_Round9175 Alouettes 1d ago

Lol, you made me chortle, how dare you!!!

3

u/MinistryOfCanoes Roughriders 1d ago

Well the Riders are playing out the string and looking at a significant rebuild or retooling next year.

3

u/jarnash Horn Connoisseur 1d ago

If the Riders last win ends up being the game I went to, that'd be pretty on point.

9

u/Admirable_Cost2027 Tiger-Cats 1d ago

I’m just going to say it. Montreal is winning the Grey Cup

8

u/jarnash Horn Connoisseur 1d ago

Beating the Riders isn't an accomplishment.

Defense might not win championships, but it can damn sure keep you from playing for one

6

u/HeronLeather3753 Maas me with that Chat 🦁 1d ago

Alouettes didn't playing this game like it's a rematch of the GC. Nor did they play it to be perfect at home.

They did what they did tonight knowing they can help spoil the Riders' playoffs hopes with wins here and in Regina.

10

u/General_Round9175 Alouettes 1d ago

I mean, the [Als] looked pretty motivated to me... Felt like they were sending a message...

7

u/Impersonatologist 1d ago

thats certainly a take, i think they just wanted to keep the wins coming..

u/CFL_Scorigami Scorigami Herald 1d ago

NO SCORIGAMI

Roughriders vs Alouettes ended in a 44-24 final for the Alouettes. This is the 7th time this score has taken place. First was in 1973 with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats over the BC Lions, and most recently in Week 3 of the 2026 season with the Toronto Argonauts over the Ottawa Redblacks. This marks the 5th score to be repeated within this season.

Check out the pinned post on my profile for public Scorigami data.

u/overzealous96 Roughriders 1d ago

I didn't have a chance to watch the game but following the score updates it looked like the Riders were going punch for punch with them until the 2nd half. Did they just run out of gas or were there some glaring mistakes?

Either way, disappointing year for a team hoping to repeat for the first time in franchise history.

5

u/FoundiPhoneNepean Has no idea how to play the banjo 1d ago

Honestly I think the only reason the H/T score was that close was that Alexander made one single mistake with the first-possession INT. Otherwise the Riders couldn't even get near the red zone. Meanwhile, the Als bounced back and spent the rest of the game scoring at will.

1

u/whitey1337 1d ago

Riders were embarrassed in this game.

1

u/Onanadventure_14 Xmas might as well come on Labour Day 1d ago

Mean and petty team exacts regular season revenge but the job isn’t done until they win the grey cup

1

u/FunOwl8347 1d ago

We need a new defensive coordinator, new qb, new dbs, new dline, new oline. Hell we just need to fire everybody and start from scratch

1

u/mlakustiak Roughriders 1d ago

Not relevant to this game but has anyone gotten an explanation why Sask/Edmonton and Hamilton/Ottawa are at the same time in two weeks?

2

u/Crisis-Huskies-fan Roughriders 1d ago

Take your pick:

A) So that the viewers will have their choice of meaningless games to not watch.

B) So that hardcore CFL fans will only have to waste 3 hours watching meaningless games instead of 6 hours.

1

u/General_Round9175 Alouettes 1d ago

Huh, I learned that some of the CFL fields didn't have painted dimensions on the playing surface... I'll have to pay closer attention to see if I can tell the difference

1

u/yougottamovethatH Alouettes 13h ago

Hey gang, I'm a bit of a new fan to the league. What caused that timeout for the Als at the beginning of the match? The announcers didn't really explain it.

1

u/Deaddoghank Lions 1d ago

Welp. Guess west Semi-final is in Vancouver.

I swear to christ if they collapse to the point they miss the playoffs, they need to completely clean house. The secondary is less than worthless. Not even government employees are that bad at their jobs.
