As Seen On (crypto) TV "My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw a guy on Reddit stack .1 BTC. I guess it's pretty serious."

Good for them i guess, but they still always confuse investing, saving, gambling, preplanning and retirement/emergency funds.

Also 1$=1$ and groceries=groceries. They may pretend not to care about the latest hype value with this phrase of theirs, but the one thing they always scale their charts to surely are neither houses, cars or BigMacs, no matter how much they try to deflect from missing use cases or intrinsic values.

$1 five years ago is equal to about $1.24 today or about a 20% loss of purchasing power, so even if ignoring crypto for a second that makes no sense to say $1=$1. You know the whole affordability crisis going on...what do you think is causing that? Loss of purchasing power of the dollar is a big part, we all understand that right?

That 1$ bill that accidently dropped behind the shelf in the 80s still has a value of 1$ on it today. Yes, what you can buy with varies, but thats the point.

You just explained why 1btc=1btc is that stupid.

Lol you might be the dumbest boy in the planet. What is a dollar aside from purchasing power it holds. I swear you have to be trolling

u/mercuryy 3d ago

But the very same is true for btc that the cult is looking to sell for more purchasing power later, you again underlined why 1btc=1btc is that stupid.

And you are most likely the troll if you still try to argue that it's not.

Brother I'm talking about our currency here. I don't have btc, y'all obsessed. The dollar is breaking, if you don't understand how the dollar's value changes against goods overtime than I stand by my original point. You are the dumbest boy around.

Yikes. You think the bitcoin community are the ones that don’t understand investing? let me guess, you have a 401k and don’t get dividends like all the other “investors” lolz

They maybe understand what serious, legit investing would look like, but rather fell for a less than zero sum game scheme willingly.

I for myself, as you inquired, can absolutely not complain about the stock market over the last years, those even made better gains than that crypto cult in the same timeframe.

You butters keep saying "Few understand"

Your community indeed is oblivious of proper investing, e.g. Few Understand

To any coinheads who think any woman worth having will be with you because you have a whole coin or some other such bullshit.

I didn't marry my husband because he was tall when he stood on his wallet. I've been married to him for close to 30 years because:

  • He's not a show off
  • He's kind and thoughtful
  • He uplifts those around him by his actions
  • He's funny and makes me laugh every day
  • He picks up after himself
  • He does his fair share of the housework
  • He follows the rule of "the cook does not clean"
  • He takes care of me when I'm sick/injured
  • He likes to read/watch movies/listen to all kinds of music -- we have great conversations because of this.
  • He's never tried to "get rich quick" -- he built his business for several years before it took off, and he doesn't chase quick bucks or nickle and dime his patrons.

Back in 2009, 1 butt cost $.05 or so and wallets usually had thousands of them. Are you proud of acquiring something-nothing which back in a day cost so little? So pathetic

I love it people in this sub are like bitcoin sucks and in the other sub bitcoin is everything and there are some People (including me) who are just making money off it by trading based on charts.

By trading it, you participate willingly in all sorts of grifts it does to other people, you're making this world even worse. Enjoy you moral compass being broken

If you’re that concerned about the moral implications of participating in a flawed system, why not leave all of it behind, go live under a rock, and enjoy your perfectly intact moral compass? Because the moment you use money, buy goods, or consume services, you’re participating in the same world you’re criticizing. It’s easy to preach morality while conveniently ignoring your own participation in the system. Trading Bitcoin doesn’t make someone immoral, and acting morally superior doesn’t automatically make you morally right.

Excellent example of a false dichotomy fallacy as well as Tu Quoque. It's entirely possible to want to avoid doing unnecessary harm without being 100% harmless. For example, you could appear to have a measurable amount of empathy for others and possibly not be a sociopath.

Trading Bitcoin doesn’t make someone immoral, and acting morally superior doesn’t automatically make you morally right.

There's no good reason to trade crypto. Sure you can bet on how many people get killed in war or traffic accidents on any given day. But it's a sad way to pander to an unsavory gambling addiction, that adds virtually nothing positive to the world.

Sure, you're not in any way obligated to "add something positive to the world" but it just might actually be "morally superior" to think one should consider the possibility.

Good argument but no, it will not wash your hands off the pedocoins and atrocities they bring to the world

Ask yourself what other avenues are out there that actually make you earn money instead of having to make sad roleplay posts like this in the hope of someone picking up your bags.

Stupid Crypto Talking Point #18 (Few Understand)

"You don't understand" / "DYOR" / Using an insult in lieu of an argument.

  1. This is what's known as an "Ad Hominem" fallacy - aka "attacking the messenger" as a distraction from arguing the core points made.
  2. This is what we call, "Crypto Gaslighting." Crypto proponents pretend that we're not smart enough to recognize the value of crypto, therefore there's something wrong with us and not the phony reality they're peddling.
  3. Almost never does the OP actually explain what it is they understand and we don't. It's merely a way to dismiss any opposing viewpoint without actually addressing it.
