Suppressing the OG
Good morning folks! Way back in 2016 I bought a Bren 1 and I immediately fell in love with the platform.
I’ve been poking around online and found various forums but no definitive answers for suppressing the 16” carbine version I’ve got. From what I remember, there was a manufacturer that made an over the barrel tube that attached directly to the factory muzzle device. I think it may have been Saker but I’m not able to find that again.
With all the recent law changes around suppressors I figure now might be a good time to look into getting one and I’m curious what my options are. I would like to keep the factory muzzle device if possible but I can image I’ll have to get a new one for any modern suppressors to work on the Bren 1.
What are my options and do you all have any good recommendations for me to look into?

It totally depends on what you're willing to spend and what your Bren 1 is chambered in, but assuming that it's 5.56, there are a lot of great options.
I don't know how gassy the 16" Bren 1 is, but the shorter Bren 2s tend to have a bit of gas with the factory default gas block, and so a lot of people have opted for the new modern 3D-printed suppressors. I have a Tisha that is absolutely incredible, but there are other options like the Ridgeback Rhodie 6/6K, CAT WB, PTR Ventus, etc.
If gas and maximum report reduction are less important than saving money, there are plenty of cheaper options available.
In any case though, you'll need to either direct mount or use a new QD muzzle device in order to install a suppressor, as I don't believe that there are any compatible suppressors that mount to the factory device. I assume that the thread on the barrel is 28 1/2, which gives you a ton of options.

I have the pistol and would find a 14x1 lh mount that indexed off the muzzle and check with an alignment rod.
Or is this what you remember? https://knsprecisioninc.com/product/cz-bren-805-thread-adapter/

Just keep in mind there aren't spare parts available for the 805, so I'd keep in mind about keeping gas pressure down.

Get a suppressor with a plan b mount. Mine came with a mount that I can twist on and off easily.

I host a Rugged Turbo T3 and it’s been great. Kinda heavy but keeps it quiet (except for the supersonic crack)

You have a million options, but if the 805 is gassed anything like the Bren 2 I’d get a LBP suppressor. Also what’s your firing schedule like? Do you shoot a lot? Do you have concerns about weight? Do you care about sound or flash mitigation? Budget? The suppressor world is full of trade offs and you need to decide what’s important to you and what’s not. You are going to end up diving down a million rabbit holes, don’t overthink it, just find something that checks your boxes and send it.
