I don’t think we’ve ever been lax with disrespect lol. Like the fact that we’re still talking about this and we have the term “diaspora war” indicates that we’ve never been relaxed about any of it from any direction.

And it seems to be getting worse. It's like maga but for Black Americans.

It's just social media. One person saying something on a podcast doesn't change much in real life, I don't watch much TV so I'd never heard of or seen dude the latest stuff is about.

It's not just social media tho. It's just in real life it doesn't rear It's ugly head the same way online, it's more subtle. Nobody would say "ahh it's just online" when ignorant Black american say dumb things regarding the diaspora.

(It's not really a diaspora war, mainly just an anti Black american culture in the diaspora, immigrants and 1st gens get on just fine..in the states)

People say dumb stuff all the time including Black Americans, we should shut it down and not dwell on it for an extended period of time.

We are all trying to shake of the programming of the propaganda we've been fed through entertainment etc, check whoever says anything wrong and keep working together.

Miss us with the bs. Africans and Caribbeans live telling us we dont know where we come from, but now that we are telling you, we are wrong? Disrespect will now get you disrespect

u/BouieWC 1d ago

It's really not just social media. What exists in real life makes its way to social media. The derogatory attitudes towards FBA from Caribbeans, Haitians and others that look like us, is not new. Because of social media we have broader access to it.

1

u/dopewinnerchild ☑️ 1d ago

Ignorant people have derogatory attitudes towards others, that's not new, the attitudes of some African Americans towards people from the places you mentioned may be the same, is that what we should dwell on and promote?

1

u/Butterscotch894 16h ago

Then you are sadly mistaken.

u/dopewinnerchild ☑️ 14h ago

About what?

1

u/Butterscotch894 14h ago

It just being social media. You lack any real knowledge about the matter..thats what.

0

u/dopewinnerchild ☑️ 14h ago

Thanks for the clarification, what would be useful is for you to say what you think.

A response from a bogus "Black americans are the real racist and don't even consider me Black" (like many in the diaspora have explicitly stated they DO NOT like being called black in some cases and ID with their ethnicity/nationality)

The vast majority do consider you Black...

People call out ethnic prejudice and you strategically call it xenophobia to quell any real discourse and convos about the issue.

Peeped your comment history, you make several snide remarks about "americans" in a disdainful" way.

u/ChefKugeo 3d ago

They always do, but then come over here and play model minority for the white man, then look at us like WE'RE doing something wrong.

We don't want to be white, or accepted by racist folks. That's all. That's the whole war summed up.

u/TheTapeTech 3d ago

Honestly, I have zero doubt that some of the division comes from bots that know rage keeps us separated. No doubt there are real ass ignorant ppl, real people who are pissed, and real people who are defensive, but the i find that those who are loudest and most… anti… no matter which direction they’re anti are usually the ones that get the most attention and then ppl with the most ignorant responses to ignorance also get echoed. The game is the game.

u/Butterscotch894 16h ago

How? Africans and Caribbeans love telling American Blacks they dont know ow where they come from and that they have no culture, all the while appropriating our culture and living a better life because we fought here fir rights. We have historical proof that the indigenous to America were Black and we can trace our families here fir centuries..How tf are we like MAGA?? QUICKLY.

The diaspora wars have always been ongoing. All that's changed is after decades of patience with disrespect, the attacks are no longer only coming from one direction

17

u/TheTapeTech 3d ago

The disrespect has always come from all directions, love has also always come from all directions but because some ppl buy into nationalism despite how it fails to protect any of our asses from white supremacy, we’re all still playing these silly little separation games thinking it’s gonna solve anything.

We black Americans have received plenty of xenophobic conditioning via programing from public schools and our media and because Americas greatest export is culture and media, black folks in other countries get anti black American propaganda fed to them as well because anti-blackness is the foundation of this fucked up nation and at this point it’s the foundation of the global economy. Before we were even viewed as people, we were assets, our ancestors were the capital. We were labor and we were dollars

And guess what, so were other black folks.

Not a thing in this word is in “one direction” when it comes to black ppl.

Compared to the Haitians who slaughtered the masters and the people who sided with them. We might be a little lax.

14

u/TheTapeTech 3d ago

Honestly, what are you talking about and how does this fit in the context of intra-racial disparagement?!

This is a discussion about current diaspora infighting not historical contributions to the liberation of black folks globally.

If you gon’ respond to me please stay on topic and please be well read cause if you knew about the slave rebellions that were already happening in the states which added pressure to Lincoln to call for abolishment, you wouldn’t be asserting that argument here where it doesn’t even belong.

9

u/Quasia_Reddit 2d ago

You do realize that Haitians weren’t the only group of enslaved individuals that rebelled? Those enslaved in the US rebelled many times… Learn your history before calling Black American ancestors ‘relaxed’ 😤

6

u/Capital-Self-3969 2d ago

Do you...not know the history of slave rebellions in the U.S.?

For those not getting it, he's saying that if Haitian Culture was as appropriated by the world as Black American Culture, while being as disrespected as Black Culture, he would sound the same as Foundational Black Americans who point this double standard out as a main talking point.

Just some Haitian solidarity with the FBA crowd to sum it up

22

u/DangerNoodleDandy ☑️ 2d ago

Thank you for the explanation. I am not terminally online enough to understand this.

3

u/itsthatkidgreg ☑️ 1d ago

I'm Haitian American but very much pro black so I come across this stuff a lot lol

76

u/Beauty_Reigns 3d ago

It's always easier to say what you would do in a situation that happened to someone else.

2

u/Automatic-War-7658 18h ago

No it’s not, this same situation happened to a friend of mine and… oh wait… 😂

52

u/Razatiger 3d ago

I think a lot of the diaspora takes for granted what Black Americans have done for Black people globally.

6

u/Pendo-illsmackabitch 1d ago

They do. They never remember that a lot of Africans "gained independence" due to the pan-African movement(this was when BA, black diaspora, and Africans were united and working together for the liberation of all black people

5

u/Razatiger 1d ago

Yes and Black Americans paved the way for Africans, South Americans and Carribbean folks to be able to move to Europe and the US.

27

u/Lanky-Respect-8581 3d ago

I am so out of touch. What is this about?

12

u/Front_Access 3d ago

FBA's crawled out of their holes armed with bots to spread bullshit.

5

u/Quasia_Reddit 2d ago

Many Black Americans have an issue with what he said you can’t just put it on bots. People are way too comfortable generalizing Black Americans and Americans. No group of people should feel comfortable generalizing another group of people, especially without any data to back it up.

-6

u/Dream_Fabulous 2d ago

Every FBA I have every met irl, is a fucking looney tune, like it's obvious their elevator don't go all the way to the top. I've never met a serious person who was really claiming that shit its always the strange uncs and random barbershop mfs

10

u/Quasia_Reddit 2d ago

FBA isn’t an organization. It’s a term that was created to categorize descendants of US chattel slavery… meaning it is being used as an ethnic identifier

20

u/Distinct_Surprise_40 3d ago

Im Haitian so I get where he's coming from, but Black people have never been quiet about the fact that people rampantly consume and commodify black culture whilst still continuing to uphold the structures of racism and colorism that oppress the people who creature said black culture. This is some real headassery.

12

u/Jazzycoyote 3d ago

This mindset will never not be weird to me.

2

u/tellingtales96 2d ago

He's right.

1

u/Butterscotch894 16h ago

Its okay when they do it, but a problem when we do it. 🫩

2

u/FEMA_Camp_Survivor ☑️ 3d ago

I’d be more offended if a Jamaican said some shit like this. They’ve had a much bigger impact on Black American food, music, language etc.

Don’t even know what this dude is referring to in the first sentence fr.

58

u/WhichHoes 3d ago

He's basically saying that its crazy to talk down on black Americans while using the slang, blasting the music, and eating food creations made in predominately in the south.

-4

u/speeeeeeeeeeee 3d ago

This is what being from Chicago is like. People talk like us, play our music, and yet the world likes to hate on us

13

u/TheTapeTech 3d ago

The world does not hate on chicago, it’s one of the most densely populated cities in the states and a tourism hub.

The only people that hate Chicago are right wing chuds. Everyone else just misunderstands it. This is also a terrible comparison.

0

u/speeeeeeeeeeee 14h ago

You haven't watched Fox News. Which is good for you. But every day we're in Trump's mouth

2

u/TheTapeTech 13h ago

Trump isn’t the world. If you live here you should know we arent hated bruh. Lol there isn’t a weekend that passes that the L isn’t crowded with ppl exploring the city. I was just at a pre-season Bulls Game full of people from all around the world excited to be in the city. Stop getting your view of the Chicago from Fox news man. Just go outside and you’ll see how much ppl love it here.

1

u/Vynomous 2d ago

Yeah, this ain't a Chicago specific thing. This is what's happened with black culture in general.

-7

u/MindlessContract 2d ago

Maybe I live in a cave but I only see it the other way around (black Americans disrespecting others etc)
