That is either the luckiest guy I've ever seen or the dumbest guy I've ever seen.

Two things can be true at the same time!

Well, I’m happy and sad for him.

2

u/Pointedtoe 12h ago

Same, and amazed by him too. Three things!

Why not both

I think buddy is actually a good rider who did something dumb (try to overtake on a blind corner) and in order to avoid the head-on collision chose to go off-road. The fact he was able to maintain control, avoid trees and make it cleanly back to the road tells me he knows how to control the bike, and is also extremely lucky!

u/RedDiamond6 16h ago

Yah. When he first comes back onto the pavement and catches the lip of the road, he handled that really well. Skill or luck? Agree it's maybe a lil of both but it is impressive.

I'm pretty sure that car was going the wrong way and this is a one way road.

5

u/Tinkous 15h ago

I don’t think so.
The biker at the end goes into the same direction.
The roadside posts have reflectors to the direction where the car is coming from and there are street signs that point also in that direction.

And on top of that - that’s a completely normal 2 way road in my experience.

While I understand this is not in the US (Its unclear what country it is though), a white dotted line typically separates lanes that are going in the same direction, no opposite.

Additionally, in the beginning of the video there are clearly 2 lanes, but then in the end of the video, there is only 1 lane, indicating the lanes merged, would would be impossible if the 2 lanes were intended to be opposite directions.

The more I watch this the more i am sure that the person in the car was traveling in the wrong direction on the road and the person on the bike avoided almost certain death and was not doing something dumb.

A white dotted line indicates that you are allowed to cross it. One permanent line means you are not allowed to cross it.

That means in this video could be two lanes in the same direction or one lane in different direction and you are allowed to take over if there is no head on traffic.

As I said totally normal road here in Europe with one lane per direction and dotted line in the middle. 80% of the country roads are like that in Europe.

This is an image of the B500 in the black Forrest. One of the most popular country roads for motorcycles cruising.

I am almost sure it’s not a car driving in the wrong direction but a motorcycle taking over with too high of a risk.

Regardless of what the dots mean, if you can’t see properly to overtake you should not do it. The bike also overtakes two vehicles at once which you are also not supposed to do.

1

u/deadlygaming11 11h ago

You can overtake two vehicles at the same time, but as you said, definitely not on a corner. I've overtaken multiple cars on a straight on my bike a few times now when its clear and I can see far down the road.

1

u/Tinkous 3h ago

It’s correct that you need to make sure there is no head on traffic when you take over. But you are allowed to overtake multiple vehicles.

I am confused where you get your information from. Are you in the US? Because the video certainly is not from there. I drive in the US every so often and I can say it takes a lot for me to adapt to your rules. A lot of things are just totally different like the right-of-way rule. That does NOT apply here in Europe but instead we apply right-over-left. And that is a way more significant difference than what the lines mean.

-1

u/captainwizeazz 13h ago

Ok, but you ignored the part where the 2 lanes appear to merge together. Where do you think this car magically came from?

2

u/deadlygaming11 11h ago

The lanes didnt merge, the lines just stopped as the road narrowed.

1

u/Tinkous 3h ago

No man - the lines just stopped in the corner. Also nothing unusual for a two lane / two directions country road. Here is an image of the same B500 in which you can see the lines just disappear in the corner at some point. It’s not a big deal for us. We just know the other side could be head on traffic since the road and the directions did not change.

And to add an important point: if it would be a one way road you would see the road that goes the other way next to it. We usually build them next to each other only separated by two lines or a barrier. Very very rarely are they physically separated and the tarmac isn’t connected. But then only by a few meters. We let them run as close to each other as possible.

1

u/deadlygaming11 11h ago

This is clearly not the US and dont try to apply US traffic systems to other places. In most of the world, a dashed line means you can cross it, not that its only for one lane.

The fact that the line disappeared does not mean that the lanes merged at all. If they did merge, there would be signs about it, yet there isnt. What actually happened was that the road narrowed so the line stopped because neither side would have enough space to have a full lane and its safer to do it that way as neither side feels like they have priority.

Is he fucking up, or Flexing. Seriously hard to tell.

2

u/deadlygaming11 11h ago

Looks like fucking up but saving it via skill. Suddenly going off road on a heavy bike like that isnt easy and its even harder to dodge trees and obstacles.

12

u/GrandElectronic9471 17h ago

Gotta stop and empty his boxers after that stunt.

I had this same adventure in my car.

On a 4-lane interstate, I fell asleep and drifted left down into a wide median. I woke up halfway to the bottom. I turned right to head back toward the road. I didn't want to stop for fear of getting stuck in the median. So I maintained about highway speed toward the road.

When I reached the road, I was going too fast to turn parallel to the road, so I zoomed across the road, fortunately onto an exit ramp.

At the top of the ramp, I stopped to recover my composure.

Congratulations. I had a similar experience. I bought a 1993 full size Blazer from a friend. We had been at the beach for 3 days. I had to be back for work and left for a 4 hour trip with 4:30 minutes at 3am.

So in a jacked up Blazer just meant for the beach and ranch I left the road asleep and woke up in time to see I was off the road 6-8ft deep in a ditch but running parallel with the road.

I hit a driveway and it launched me 6ft or more into the air. I was sure it would end in disaster.

Unbelievably, I landed perfectly in my lane less than a second before a log truck hauling butt passed headed to other way.

It did some damage to my Blazer but nothing too expensive or serious.

It was a memorable experience. I've never driven sleepy since.

memorable experience. I've never driven sleepy since.

Every recall of that memory dumps new adrenaline.

2

u/plainskeptic2023 14h ago

Sounds exciting. I am jealous.

2

u/bonze73 16h ago

I had a similar experience, but it snow and ice related…😂😂😂

1

u/plainskeptic2023 16h ago

That sounds even scarier.

GTA VI!!!!

3

u/RedDiamond6 16h ago

Omg 😄 having had a motorcycle, this is pure idioticness and/or genius. I don't know, I agree the lines blur for me on how to look at this. I am glad it worked out well for everyone.

2

u/Loafy2_ 16h ago

I can almost guarantee you he blamed the guy on the bike for that

2

u/SputnikFace 16h ago

essentially a poop suit by the end of that ride.

2

u/Hara-Kiri 16h ago

I know a shortcut

2

u/Pylgrim 12h ago

Classical kid playing Mario Kart.

2

u/8cuban 5h ago

Was ANY of that on purpose?

2

u/radiodmr 4h ago

Trying to pass in the first place was on purpose. The rest of it was avoiding a collision with oncoming traffic, and a combination of luck and skill.

1

u/HeavyDutyForks 17h ago

I'm amazed that guy hasn't been turned into pavement paste by now

1

u/Ok-Improvement-3670 16h ago

What was the point of that?

1

u/ouijanonn 16h ago

Two wheeled freestyle rollercoaster

Looks like me snow skiing

1

u/libra00 15h ago

My dude that's a touring bike, it's supposed to stay on the road.

1

u/procrastablasta 15h ago

Did all this start just bc he attempted a pass on a blind turn and got caught looking at an oncoming car? Or was there something else

1

u/SGPrepperz 15h ago

Any adventure you can walk away from and no one got hurt is a best ride

1

u/similaraleatorio 15h ago

bro goes weee weeeeee weeeeeee

1

u/buffinator2 15h ago

Most impressive part was doing that with 10 pounds of shit in his pants

1

Bro's on that Mariokart shortcut.

1

u/Pretend-Character-47 14h ago
