I wonder if a long time ago wolves would beg humans for food.

I wonder if that’s where dogs came from

That's close to what's assumed. Wolves probably realized that if they protected the humans, the humans would feed them.

I was being sarcastic, it’s exactly where dogs came from. Wolves hanging around our campfire 30,000 or so years ago, begging for scraps. Those wolves became more docile, evolving to the “proto-dog” which cohabitated with us for thousands of years. The breeds we have today are the result of very unnatural selection, selective breeding to bring out the physical traits we wanted, usually for specific tasks the dogs were for, or for vanity. They are all descendants of the proto-dog, and before that, wolves.

And 30,000 years later you end up with my dog: a Hairless Chinese Crested that wears shoes in the snow and is afraid of the dark.

Oh yeah, and next you’ll tell me we descend from primates

both dogs and humans descended from a common mammalian ancestor.

How did a proto dog evolve? What point did dogs split from wolves. Makes no sense to me and a may very well be dumb as a box of rocks.

This was addressed in the Cosmos reboot with Neil Degrass Tyson. And yes! The wolves wolves learned that where there are humans, there is food.

Bear not in the mood for play. Love seeing the fun canine spirit alive and well in the wild

This behavior is why pugs now exist

Soon, the bears will have domesticated wolves… and who knows what new and specialized breeds of proto-dog the bears will begin to breed…

I love how the wolf is showing signs of trying to play and the bear has just no idea what that means

Note: It is worth noting, even if it sounds anticlimactic and ruins the video.. well that this video is not AI. Haha, I know this because I’ve had it saved for years on my pc since I love animals; I can certainly understand the modern collective frustration of doubting things when we shouldn't have to, even with silly stuff 😩

But how do you know you’re not AI?

That sounds like something an AI would say…..

The bear and the wolf must have had previous interactions with one another on some level. Usually wolves when trying to chase a bear off a kill, they don't get even NEARLY this close. Either these two were raised and released back into the wild by the same rehabilitator, or they are in a protected area and have kind of developed a "friendship" to some degree where neither really sees the other a threat right away, but will absolutely turn on one another if provoked. The other wolf that is off to the right that leaves right away, same thing, there is a trust there between these two and the third that was developed at some point and more than likely to to some form of unusual circumstances.

Pretty sure this video has been cropped and that's not what's happening here. The rest of the pack of wolves are behind the bear, and the wolf you see is trying to distract it.

I like how he stops every once in a while to look around to make sure none of his boys are watching.
