Animal In Australia, you get all kinds of visitors

Guess they're not too invested with those two drunks in the background.
38
u/No_No_Juice 1d ago
The drunks are a different species. I feel the greys are saying 'don't worry about the Reds, they aren't with us'.
6
u/x81MarkII 1d ago
They're not reds, just the sunlight hitting their fur.

u/TianaTatiana22 1d ago
in which case, drunk animals are a million times less dangerous than a human (unless it's a fkn chimp)

u/BaronGreywatch 1d ago
Is that a Plover?! Sons of bitches those birds

u/balgrogg 1d ago
Ask a foreigner to guess which animal is the lost likely to fuck you up in the video

I love the two roos that are staring wondering if there's going to be an issue and there's two teenagers in the background having a punch up.
Plover is all "well I've got shit to do so...".

I want to move to Australia so bad..
Edit: Well now I know Aussies are extremely nice lol. Thanks to The Dollop, I also know about a lot of your absurd history! All of your wildlife are on my "lifers" list, so I'll be visiting if nothing!

You probably won’t see this exact thing (I’ve lived in Aus for 14 years and have never seen wild Kangaroos) but you’ll definitely see some crazy wildlife, just the birds you see everyday are amazing.
It’s a beautiful country and great to live in
14
u/Charming_Victory_723 1d ago
Really, I suppose it depends where you live but I’ve seen them dozens of times.
6
u/TongaTime123 1d ago
I live in the suburbs north of Sydney, I’ve seen Turkeys and Wallabies around plus a Koala when my family drove south for a holiday but I haven’t seen Kangaroos outside of the zoo.
Tbh I’m surprised too
2
u/StarFaerie 1d ago
Ah, you live in a wallaby area. Yeah, some places have wallabies instead of roos. Visit Canberra. We have them everywhere.
2
u/ridolfi92 22h ago
You can see them in the wild literally 15 mins from the centre of Melbourne. There’s a group of them, and wallabies, that live in Yarra Bend park (Kew).

u/LorenzoRavencroft 1d ago
How have you not seen a roo? They are splattered all over the side of the highways

Have you never left the city? This is wild. Edit. I see your other comment. Still my mind was shattered upon your first comment.
9
u/IntoStarDust 1d ago
Seriously? I have seen so many and now (at roo’s)I live with 3 Wally’s, far too many parrots 🦜 (can never have enough parrots honestly) and a host of other wildlife: example, wombats and devils.
On top of that I have the cutest skink family that lives with me. And there is some blue tongues hanging about. Love AUS! It’s the best!
Edit to add about roo’s.
Edit 2: forgot to mention all the turbo chooks!

How?? Do you live under a rock?!
I know at least 2-3 places I am almost guaranteed to see wild kangaroos (after dusk/at night) about 15mins from where I live.
And I live in one of the major cities (not sydney tho soo…)

u/Bettong68 1d ago
They are everywhere around Durras , Murramarang national park and long beach and Maloneys beach. I lived there and they were in my lawn and on the streets every day and night
2
u/Legitbananabunch 21h ago
Woah woah woah what, you’ve not seen wild kangaroos in 14 years? Tell me what state you’re in and I’ll tell you the nearest place you can go see them!
1
u/TongaTime123 21h ago
North Sydney, we have wallabies around here
1
u/RQCKQN 20h ago
That’s why man. They’re not super close to major cities. If you drive an hour north, south or west you’ll see them in the wild.
If you’re in North Sydney, don’t drive an hour east… it’s pretty wet there :)
But go past Gosford, the Gong or Penrith and you’ll start seeing em in the wild.

Yeah like I live in Perth and it's mainly up in the hills or in the country you see roos
Got a cute flock of Pink Galahs who come every arvo to chill on the power lines when the weathers nice.

u/Longjumping-Sir-7298 20h ago
Never seen a wild skippy after 14 years with us?? You need to get out more. Trust me, they are there.

u/karo_scene 19h ago
I've been to school camps about 3 hours drive from Melbourne. At that point every day at 6 am the tribe of kangaroos will hop through your camp grounds without any fear.

That Plover couldn't be fucked waiting.

u/Accomplished-Clue145 1d ago
Scariest thing in the video, I'd take on all the roo's before that hell spawn of a bird.

u/SwimmingPhysics3584 1d ago
I got a big roo on my street who bully’s all the other ones. We call him Bruce. Gonna sort him out myself one day
10
u/Different-Patient678 1d ago
Fuck the kangaroos. If that Plover has chicks and a nest nearby, that’s what is going to take you out, not the kangaroos. Those birds are nasty as fuck! Damn ground magpies.

u/CSSC86 1d ago
Agreed! When we were kids we lived next door to a golf driving range and the balls would always go over the net fence and into our property. We'd collect bags full of golf balls and return them because the owners would give us $1 per bag so we could play the pinball machine 😅 Anyways, them damn plover birds would swoop and attack us while we were collecting them, it was as if we were stealing their eggs. It was totally worth it at the time though lol

Do red and grey roos hang out in the same territories? I figured they'd stay away from each other for the most part.
15
u/ParamedicExcellent15 1d ago
No. These are all eastern greys. Reds distribution begins in the far west of the continent and ceases near the interior. They are considerably larger. If you see a reel with a red in it and there is no scale or perspective, you can pick them out by their coarser/more angular features. Greys are cute and cuddly looking for the most part.
1
u/StarFaerie 1d ago
Western grey and red kangaroos have overlapping distribution. They both live throughout the west and the interior. However they prefer different habitats.
3
u/ParamedicExcellent15 1d ago
Western greys and eastern greys overlap but western reds and greys barely intersect

Fun! They look so silly. I know, I know, roos could bop me in the head and cause serious damage! But they look so silly 😛

This is THE BEST thing I’ve seen all day!! I can’t even imagine!! I’m in Delaware, east coast, USA…this video is amazing!!

u/CamillaBarkaBowles 1d ago
It is very much like the beer garden, dudes having a dust up, mum trying to keep the kids away and a bird grabbing all the attention

Then two blueing in the back is accurate. Once saw two reds having a go on the side of the road. As our car approached, one of them turned to look and the other just double kicked him clean over the barrier, backwards down the hill.

u/SabbyFox 1d ago
That is creepy AF. The roos staring while that row goes on in the background. I felt like they were judging and the person filming did not measure up in sone way.

Yeah sure, but I bet they’ve never seen some homeless dude walking down the sidewalk and taking a piss at the same time.

Is this round Jervis Bay area? Sanctuary Point maybe? It's robably not but the street looks familiar 😅 we moved from Bankstown (no kangaroos) to Vincentia (lots of kangaroos) they would be on our front lawn every evening, they'd even let us feed them it was the coolest thing ever! I now live in Wollongong, we don't see any roo's but we see deer on the mountains or in the middle of the broad late at night 🙄

So real, mums are at peace with the world and the angry bird species around them. Dad’s thinking about keeping them pregnant by punching on in the background.

I've never been in to Australia, but red kangaroos just seem like dicks.
2
u/StarFaerie 1d ago
Those aren't red kangaroos. Just eastern greys.
0
u/deadspacekillers 1d ago
The ones fighting in the background?
2
u/StarFaerie 1d ago
Yup. Male eastern greys. They often have a red tint. Reds are much redder than that.

Those big ones are emus. Australia lost a war to them, so they basically run the place now.
-1
u/Hot_Poetry_6475 1d ago
Sucks that they punch each other in the gut when the moms all have their babies in their pouches...
3
u/Simple_Substance4829 1d ago edited 1d ago
Those are the males fighting in the video and they don't have pouches. I've never seen females fight, only the smaller, younger males. The big boys just flex a bit and no one messes with them.

We've already got ostriches, camels and water buffalo. We don't need anything else wrecking our beautiful environment
