I saw this show and you need to imagine all the puppeteers wearing black against a dark backdrop with a crazy light and laser show going on. It was incredibly impressive! King Kong slowly came out from the darkness for his first appearance and although I remember the actual music from the show being fairly non-remarkable, the puppet was insane. I'd forget the puppeteers were even there, and then occasionally look for them and see them jumping around. So good.

The way they all work together to make him run, as impressive as the puppet. Very cool!

We need an update from somebody local who goes to see this when it opens. Is it as cool as it looks here? How ripped are the puppeteers?
Also, think about the people you went to high school with who went to art school to major in puppetry…not what you expect!

Oh it opened and closed about a decade or so ago. It then ventured to a completely rewritten version on Broadway with a different creative team behind it. Now it is finished.

Bummer. But somebody’s still got that gorilla. Stick that on the porch for Halloween.

Somehow I keep worrying about the operators getting stepped on, despite knowing it's them making Kong move.

I would laugh so hard but also be so impressed if we got a theater play of Kong vs Godzilla

The show was done at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne and was an absolute amazing and brilliant performance by all involved, I was working at the Theatre when it premiered and was there throughout the whole season of shows it was just incredible how the operated the puppet King Kong

In the real play, are the people more hidden?

The puppeteers will wear black clothing to blend in, and they’ll light the stage in such a way that the people are less obvious.
