Miscellaneous / Others At just 5 years old, Juliette Lamour donated her piggy bank savings with her sister to help victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake. Thirteen years later, after turning 18, she bought her first lottery ticket on her grandfather’s advice and won a C$48 million jackpot in Canada’s LOTTO 6/49 in 2023.

... I mean, great! But how do those two sentences relate?
Apart from supposedly being the same person.

I was thinking that too.
If I ever win, I'd be like write this: man who paid for coffee for the guy behind him in the drive through in 2012 then went to jail years later on an unrelated event, wins 69 million dollars this week. He plans to help orphaned grandmother's in Turkmenistan with the winnings.

This is like that guy that won a scratch off and then won again while re-enacting his win for the news.

The first time he won a car worth $30k. When re-enacting the moment, he ended up winning significantly more - $250k cash

Am I the only one thinking this is a non sequitur?
One can win the lottery without having ever donated to charity.
I’m not drawing a parallel between what she did at age 5 and what she won at age 18.
Lovely regardless.

The implication is karma, which greatly annoys me. A tinge of spritual/religious connotation here to imply shes a good person who earned the lottery? idk, the title can can kick bricks.

A model citizen. Who would give up their entire piggybank at just 5 years old?
She deserves every cent of those winnings. And we can all rest assured that she'll keep on helping out those who need it the most. I still remember the horror of that earthquake.
It put a smile on my face knowing there are such genuinely unselfish human beings out there who were willing to give all they had to help those who had lost everything.

this is so dumb. if anyone wins the lottery, and you start to search in his entire lifestory for something "good deed" like to connect it to, you'll find something ...

Does this have anything to do with raising money for the Panama earth quake.

I bet the only reason the first parts mentioned is because she’s a massive piece of shit and that’s the only decent thing she’s ever done

How about the karma of the Haiti earthquake victims? What bad acts did they commit to be earthquaked?
