Surprisingly enough, there is definitely a market for pickup sized geodes out there. It's an active market as well. I work with big pieces including large amethysts (not this large, one of our competitors handles this size though) and we sell pieces weighing up to a couple of tons. The giant ones like the on in the picture don't sell as fast, but they definitely sell regularly. A lot of them go to UAE/Dubai etc some to museums and private estates in the EU or US. La Stage in Uruguay produces some of the best giant geodes

I'm honestly shocked at this information. Like I previously stated (and since you are in the business are keenly aware) large specimens have been getting excavated regularly as far back as the 40s (and I'm being conservative with the timeline here).

Because of this I figured this type of business would be the contracting kind, not an expanding one for this specialty. 😅

Well, the rich are always going to be rich and are getting richer every day for better or worse. People often like to one-up each other, and some people just like to collect really big and unusual. We have a client with an estate in Hawaii and he buys large crystals (picture like a single point but weighing 5,000lbs or more) and clusters, has them shipped and then airlifted onto his huge property and 'planted' here and there. Was buying a couple a year for a while there.
