I am an avid kayaker…has anyone here ever taken a canoe or kayak through the downtown canals?

There are routine kayak group tours daily. Some do their own kayaks alone occasionally. There’s some lovely kayaking upriver on the north branch, where homes have their own docks with canoes, kayaks, and power boats.

Yes I know my brother just recently came back from the Chi…I was wondering if anyone in this thread has done it personally to chat about it firsthand compared to my other adventures.

The downtown area can get very congested as theres lots of pleasure crafts as well as big huge tour boats. You definitely have to be confident if you're not in a group and know what you're doing and be aware of surroundings and traffic. That said the river extends also far north and south which gets less traffic and gives you a really unique perspective on the post industrial nature of the city. There are also some restaurants and breweries where you can dock.
