Lived there for a decade and it’s fantastic, I’d even call it underrated as far as us cities go (I work with a lot of international clients and it doesn’t seem to be on people’s lists really compared to New York and LA).

Underrated is a very fair description. I get why someone would choose NYC for a vacation if they’re into art or theater; the Art Institute is very good but can’t compete with seeing the Met and Moma on the same trip. But as a city, Chicago is beautiful, unique, and very livable. And a better vacation spot than LA.

I totally agree, but not with the very livable part. The winters feel distinctly unlivable to me.

The experience of living in Chicago does include really questioning your life choices every January, but I still really liked living there and miss everything but the worst couple months of winter.

Unless you’re from the Twin Cities, at which point January in Chicago comes along and you’re thinking “this is what everyone’s complaining about?”
