Imagine what this feels like.

u/dementorpoop Jul 14 '26

Love that he just soaked it in for a minute. Incredible

527

u/HelmetsAkimbo Jul 14 '26

A reminder that Judge Bellingham turned 23 less than a month ago.

244

u/protobelta Jul 14 '26

Ya, but what about Jude?

131

u/HelmetsAkimbo Jul 14 '26

Apple will be hearing from my lawyers

79

u/protobelta Jul 14 '26

Maybe Judge Bellingham will preside over the case

25

u/HelmetsAkimbo Jul 14 '26

Wouldn’t be the first time he’d saved the English in the past few weeks should he win.

He IS the law.

Jude needs to be called Judge Bellingham as a nickname so hard 😂

CITIZEN, PROSECUTION PENDING FOR CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT COPYRIGHT FRAUD: PUBLIC PERFORMANCE OF PRIVATE WORKS IN CONTRAVENTION OF STATUTORY CONTRACT RE: AAPL VS JONES 2033

12

u/hundiratas Jul 14 '26

yeah once I heard that past game, i was shocked. Seems like hes been around for like 10+ years.

22

u/Apprehensive_Rice19 Jul 14 '26

I feel like he was in disbelief and thought he was imagining it until that really strong chorus part and then he was like wow, this is really happening.

7

u/extraboxesoftayto Jul 14 '26

He wasnt in disbelief. The song is frequently sung for Bellingham in England

3

u/Apprehensive_Rice19 Jul 14 '26

Yeah this happens to me all the time too

16

u/GhOsT_wRiTeR_XVI Jul 14 '26

It’s fun to think that just one guy in the crowd started signing the bridge and that the rest of the stadium just picked it up.

He didn’t pull out his Phone to Film /s
It feels so good to just soak moments in instead of documenting everything on a phone.

2

u/94terp Jul 14 '26

Love that the announcers shut the F up so we could too

228

u/Well_Spoken_Mute Jul 14 '26

I've got goosebumps just watching it

82

u/AwehiSsO Jul 14 '26

Goosebumps all over, waves of them. Jude is playing hard this tournament.

26

u/Azaroth1991 Jul 14 '26

Someone's cutting onions

178

u/KingWoodyOK Jul 14 '26

No matter how the rest of his career goes... you know he will remember this moment for the rest of his life.

84

u/Forgotthebloodypassw Jul 14 '26

Given the amount of crap some portions of the British press have given him, my guess would be vindication.

45

u/JauntyGiraffe Jul 14 '26

no one should really pay any attention to the British press. bunch of nobodies just being shitty

18

u/Intelligent-Map2768 Jul 14 '26

I guarantee you he doesn't give a shit about what the British press says about him lol. That man is cold af.

20

u/Forgotthebloodypassw Jul 14 '26

Talented af too.

6

u/baron_von_helmut Jul 14 '26

Yeah he really is. You know when someone says they don't give a shit about what people think of them but they actually do?

Well he said he doesn't give a shit what people think of him and he actually doesn't. Pressure helps him. He revels in it.

33

u/mollusks75 Jul 14 '26

I’ve been trying to since it happened live and just can’t. I named my dog Jude from this song and lost him many years ago so this song always meant something special to me but this is a completely different level. It’s just incredible

15

u/Gbrown546 Jul 14 '26

I remember seeing an interview with the Brazilian Ronaldo recently where he said when he retired, he felt so incredibly flat. Like he’d lost everything. And then you see something like this and you get it. How do you ever replicate these highs again later in life?

3

u/baron_von_helmut Jul 14 '26

He probably also felt fat. Dude is enjoying his retirement in some ways at least. :)

16

u/blackandbluegirltalk Jul 14 '26

LMAO I was totally going to say the thought of being that famous actually scares the hell out of me, but WOW that must have felt amazing.

6

u/Nattidati Jul 14 '26

Just the other day I got to be in a massive stadium concert. My first experience of a crowd of 80.000 singing into my direction (the artists obviously not me lol). At times the crowd was so loud you couldn't even hear the music.

If that is what it sounds like for players, let alone what it feels like, even just a quarter as good, then this must be pure ecstasy.

4

u/SkinBintin Jul 14 '26

Next he'll abandon Madrid and go play for an English club. (please be the one I support)

9

u/CartographerAlone632 Jul 14 '26

I don’t think you could put it into words

4

u/FlatSpinMan Jul 14 '26

As another guy called Jude, the scale has always been completely different, but the occurrence is not rare.

I used to hate it as a kid. Once at full school assembly the song of the day was Hey Jude and everyone was looking and giggling at me (in a nice way really, but I’ve never enjoyed the spotlight).

That said, this is a lovely moment. You can see it means a lot to him and I live the way he takes it in.

3

u/PUSClFER Jul 14 '26

I can vaguely guess what it felt like.

I practiced football when I was 9 years old. One time, we got to run a lap around the field before a major derby match between the two largest rivals in the country. I remember running past the long side of the field where people were seated and our parents were which was fun. Then we turned the corner to the end side where my club's fans were standing with giant drums, red flares, smoke everywhere, confetti, toilet paper and a roar from the crowd you could feel in your chest. It was as if the entire crowd exploded when we came up to them. I've never felt so empowered before or after that moment. It was surreal to say the least.

3

u/skull_fucker79 Jul 14 '26

your mother should know

2

u/VerilyShelly Jul 14 '26

Let's all get up and dance to a song that was a hit before your mother was born

6

u/glowantstobedegraded Jul 14 '26

2

u/Masterkid1230 Jul 14 '26

Bro this is what football videogame career mode endings look like. It's basically a movie moment.

If this guy ever has a movie or documentary made about him, this will be like the climax simply because of how cinematic it is. Mind blowing.

2

u/damn-african Jul 15 '26

Iv always thought the absolute peak awesome must be when a singer/band plays to a massive sold out arena and the every single person in the crowd is singing the song you wrote.

I often think of Liam Gallagher at Knebworth, he described it in the Supersonic doco as the peak.

This wouldn't be far behind.

u/SirTiffAlot Jul 14 '26

I cannot imagine what that feels like. One time I had 20 something kindergarteners one by one saying, “Hi Coach!” Some of them I didn’t even coach, but it made me feel special.

184

u/FreezeProduct Jul 14 '26

Hahaha, made me chuckle. This is the regular people equivalent.

Like the first time a kid calls you 'sir' 😀

28

u/mdem5059 Jul 14 '26

kid calls you 'sir'

Oh no, I don't want this to happen :(

3

u/wene324 Jul 14 '26

I worked retail in my late 20s and having the the teenagers call you Mister. Its like noooo, I'm just married, have a kid and a mortgage, I'm not really an adult...

6

u/Ak40x Jul 14 '26

When I was in my early 20s I got invited by my teenage brother and his friends to play paintball, have VERY basic “move and cover” tactics which I employed to our team (they did lose one game before I had arrived). We won twice, 7 big ass teenage boys started chanting and hollering “General”, not gonna lie, 20 year later I still recall this story 🤣

u/Sigvarld Jul 14 '26

Hi coach !

2

u/Lastshadow94 Jul 14 '26

I work at a small summer camp. A few years ago we had one of our teenage counselors leave briefly to pick up lunch. As a bit, we had everybody boo them when they left and applaud when they came back. That was pretty fun, but then everybody just kept doing it, and now it's a daily running joke. We have people come in to lead group activities, they all get ovations on the way in. My counselors come home from college and get welcomed back by a cheering crowd of children. Some people have even developed bits in response, like one person always does a big flourishing stage bow, one just applauds back, I sometimes like to control the volume of the applause.

Great bit

The thing about these fans is that they'll turn that love into racist hate in a heartbeat if things don't go to plan

12

u/queenofthera Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

I'm English but not a football fan, so I only really get an impression of things through my anti-racist husband. I'd got the sense that things had improved a lot in that racism is called out from multiple directions when it happens and racist fans are actually facing sanctions.

I checked the statistics from kickitout and it appears that reports of discrimination are indeed rising (though that could be partly more people thinking that reporting is worthwhile). It seems an extremely worrying situation at least.

Though, tbh I imagine the racist fans will have been priced out of attending the World Cup games; so every cloud.

4

u/Mysterious-Lemon-906 Jul 14 '26

Social media is the problem

Argentine fans also racially abused IShowSpeed this world cup

3

u/baron_von_helmut Jul 14 '26

Did they?

Huh. I fucking hate that guy but there's no need to be racist. Just take the piss out of him for being an annoyingly loud attention-seeking nitwit.

3

u/Firm-Necessary9305 Jul 14 '26

No they won't? This isn't the 80s or 90s anymore.

2

u/Mysterious-Lemon-906 Jul 14 '26

Tell Saka that

8

u/AidyD Jul 14 '26 edited Jul 14 '26

I hate people saying this. Vast majority of racial abuse Saka got was from outside the UK specifically the Middle East. He got nothing but love and cheers his first game back in season from the crowds everyone’s proud of him.

Some bad apples online of course but let’s be real most countries have issues with racism and xenophobia.

4

u/Firm-Necessary9305 Jul 14 '26

I'm not quite sure it was the people in the crowd here who were running the anonymous Instagram accounts that sent him racial abuse.

22

Naa, just replace the month June with Jude.

9

u/FrostedPixel47 Jul 14 '26

Considering England hasn't won the World Cup since 1966, that would be fitting considering Hey Jude was released only two years later.

7

u/Beorma Jul 14 '26

I was going to suggest replacing St. Jude with him, and after looking who St. Jude is up found out they're the "patron saint of lost causes".

Fitting for the England team.

u/HijonoYoki Jul 14 '26

I can't even begin to describe how amazing that must have felt.

55

u/Mpuls37 Jul 14 '26

As an amateur musician, having ~2,000 people at a festival bobbing their heads along and singing to some cover song we were playing felt amazing.

I imagine that would be about a 1 out of 10 compared to what we see here. That many people singing the song to you? Nothing short of awe-inspiring.

10

u/motophiliac Jul 14 '26

I think of Freddie Mercury at Live Aid.

Radio Ga Ga just looked transcendent.

97

u/Kush_McNuggz Jul 14 '26

Jude has been my favorite player this tournament. That Mexico game was legendary. It’s awesome to watch someone who’s not only great, but plays their heart out.

31

u/EastSideandDong Jul 14 '26

And genuinely deserves the love. Plays the game the right way and seems to be a role model off the field.

7

u/Semillakan6 Jul 14 '26

I think its safe to say Mexico-England was probably one of the best matches in WC history, it was a true clash between greats

41

u/cascadia8 Jul 14 '26

Nanananaaa

13

u/LiteratureNearby Jul 14 '26

One of the interesting things is that Hey Jude is also a song sung by the fans of Manchester City - Haaland's club.

Must be odd for him haha

u/No_Pitch6143 Jul 14 '26

Wait, do they often sing this to him or was this the first and only time? It sure looked like the first time by his face, wow. I love that song so much

58

u/loopynewt Jul 14 '26

It's been a regular occurrence during his club play in Germany and Spain. I guess it carries more significance this time given it's the world cup and his country.

19

u/velvetzappa Jul 14 '26

Pubs everywhere across England singing this song for him.

24

u/Honic_Sedgehog Jul 14 '26

To be fair pubs across England will sing this at the slightest provocation regardless.

29

International football for England is the modern church. They are all gathering to pray for the win, and sing in unison. It's also the only time the rivalries and factions of clubs melt away bringing the nation together. I just hope the symmetry of 60 years pays off for England. ('66 - '26)

Cool that they sang it but I won't forget thr fact England up to this point has been harassing the man non stop. Saw the group stage match vs Panama and literally anytime the man made a run it was boos

I always think Jude looks like he's in FIFA the video game, in real life with his actions and movements

Really want to know what he looks like in the game...
