I have a Pro plan. Mine says,
"Gemini 4 Argon is only available with a Google AI Ultra plan, or per request with an API key. Upgrade for higher limits, advanced features, and more."

u/TheMildEngineer 18h ago
u/Google was supposed to release this two weeks ago to Ultra subscribers.

u/JASONC07 10h ago
It's out, move on. I woke up, saw it was out and was honestly more happy I would finally stop seeing the 'where's Gemini' posts than to use it.

Antigravity is a bad harness, why would you do this
3
u/_KryptonytE_ 9h ago
For complex workflows and use cases it's actually amazing. Once you understand the strengths of how different harnesses work, you realise the noise about them being bad is just low effort just because it's not being used the way it was intended. Cheers!!! 🥂

Damn that is LAME. I figured as Pro tier we would at least get some limited Argon usage via the free API credits....
Edit: Apparently Pro is getting Argon in the app just not the API, I'm ok with that and will now be happy when it acutally hits my account lol.

u/Dogesh-bhaiya 14h ago
It eats 3-5% usage per prompt. Too low for actual serious work
1
u/AcidReaper1 10h ago
It seems to be running near a flat 5%. You can basic prompt on low 5%, ask complicated prompt on high 5%. Wondering if they are throttling it right now since it just dropped

u/s133p1355 15h ago
I am really mad. First it takes pretty long for Google to finally release a competitive model, then they remove Pro entirely from agy while providing the Argon only to Ultra subscribers. So I was paying for a subscription with an old pro model while patiently waiting and I get exactly nothing in return. Even worse, now I even lost the old pro model. Fuck this.

u/DeArgonaut 17h ago
i see it in ai studio as a pro (student) user
Edit: nvm it says upgrade to continue...
4
u/Tim_Apple_938 17h ago
It is in Gemini app. https://x.com/officiallogank/status/2110038940841545827
5
u/cazador517 18h ago
It is. Pro users get a monthly allowance of pre-paid API usage, with that you can use any model.

u/SorosAhaverom 16h ago
You're not comprehending the message you are replying to and/or the text in the image. /u/cazador517 stated Pro subs get a monthly free API allowance (which is true, $10 in API credit), and your image clearly states you need an Ultra plan OR a Gemini API key. So go claim your monthly $10 API credit, then create an API key and there you go, Argon is available.

not gonna pay over 100 bucks for this shit
1
u/ComprehensiveWave475 15h ago
google is like one of the richest companys te only reason to pay that is if you are an ecosystem fanboy
1
u/Qubit99 1h ago
Why, ultra plan includes YouTube premium and a lot of storage. I pay for premium and got a gpt ultra plan, I would gladly return to Gemini should Gemini models be as good as Astra.
I think 100 bucks for ultra plan, shared as a family plan, including YouTube premium is a very good package, but only if ai is up to the tasks I need
-2
u/Aggravating_Farm3116 14h ago
Then it sounds like you didnt need it to begin with
6
u/TopBite7720 11h ago
Or maybe - just maybe - 100 bucks is better spent with Anthropic or OpenAI sub

I fear if they will do the same with next flash models. They must atleast keep flash models accessible in studio, otherwise what was the point of this enviroment then
9
u/FewAbroad3757 17h ago
Wtf they could give at least some use to test it, why Google why
0
u/s133p1355 15h ago
...while OpenAI is resetting the usage entirely with each new model release. I am done with Google AI, really.

u/MomentPrestigious180 17h ago
I already have Codex and Claude Max. They both have proved themselves and earned the trust. Google hasn't. At least Google should let people have some limited quota to test how good it is. This is not a gacha to pay for 'the privilege' of being a guinea pig.

Well, Google said right in the announcement: “Starting with paid APIs and Google AI Ultra”
3
u/ManufacturerHuman937 17h ago edited 17h ago
EDIT : I'm incorrect on this it's rolling out to Pro (don't got it yet) throughout today and it's for the Gemini app / web only for Pro no dev tools. I don't know where people are getting Pro was ever gonna get Argon right away when Google's messaging has been nothing but consistent with saying Ultra only and they haven't even alluded to letting us Pro users EVER play with it maybe a Argon Flash I dunno.
4
u/stoptakingmylogins 17h ago
This is just so blatantly wrong lmao.
There was a literal announcement that it will be available to Pro users today.

Thanks for the info I hadn't checked my self as of today so I will admit jumping to conclusions I will leave my post up as a matter of showing what rushing to wrong info looks like. Hope you have a good one. Up until today the messaging was definitely making it seem like a Ultra only perk.

u/InevitableCivil1623 17h ago
It’s just Ultra first. Google always releases new things to Ultra first, not only because they pay more, but based on some sources apparently people in Ultra are also way more forgiving of bugs and issues when they first release.
Like somehow Pro/Plus and free subscribers complain way louder about any issues than the Ultra subscribers.

Argon is not out publicly until it arrives for pro and plus.
3
u/AcidReaper1 16h ago
Its coming to pro in the app today, its just a slow release. I haven't got it yet, but others are reporting it's available. Sundar tweeted that its coming to Pro today as well.

worth knowing before you build on it: the 1M limit is unified input + output, not 1M in plus separate output. a long agent run eats its own context. theres a new continuation protocol in the docs for exactly that, read it before wiring argon into an agent

I was waiting for Google to release something like this so I can sub their Ultra plan to replace Codex or Claude Max since I need YT premium and other Google's stuffs in one bundle, but m still not sure if Argon can sustain long horizon task within the budget for 5 hours (Fable+Opus+Sonnet on Max can) and even if it worth it. I have no problem with AG, my last issue was the quota limit and obsolete frontier models available.

All this hype and waiting, to give the finger to loyal Google fans! This is so stupid, whoever made that decision should be fired
