Shower caps, headbands, putting it up immediately after washing, and most importantly the proper showerhead. I use hansgrohe Raindance Select S Low Flow 5-inch Handheld Shower Head.

Shower caps are your friend, and turban towels for when you wash it and can't dry it immediately.

It’s definitely sensory hell and you can’t entirely avoid it, but you can avoid it for most showers.

Minimize how frequently you wash your hair. Most people only need to wash hair once or twice a week. For all other showers, tie it up very high on your head and don’t put your whole head under the water. Slip in only as much as you need to in order to wash your face/neck/ears etc. Keep your hair out of the water.

If you can’t angle your shower head to allow this, shower caps are the solution, though I personally hate the sound of water on shower caps.

This! I twist my hair into a bun on the very top of my head before showering if it isn’t a hair wash day. My hair is naturally curly but I usually style it straight. The twisting keeps it from getting frizzy. I also try to shower as quickly and efficiently as possible to reduce the amount of humidity that comes into contact with my hair. This helps reduce frizz and oily looking hair.

I buzzed it all off a year and a half ago in a fit of sensory rage. Haven’t looked back since 🤗 truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Sorry this doesn’t help with your current situation… But if you’ve ever thought about short hair, it’s truly wonderful and I say be brave and do it!!!
