Ask Austin Help me with imbalances
Hello!
I am in need of recommendations for someone locally who can help me with the above. I have tried to self rehabilitate myself and need assistance at this point. Sitting at work more in my new job has not been helping :’)
Thank you!

I had a good experience with Texas Physical Therapy Specialists.
Go to PT, not chiropractors.

No problem! They helped me a lot over the course of about 6 weeks, and the exercises they taught me have made a big difference whenever the problem area has started acting up again

Casual reminder that chiropractics are not rooted in science whatsoever, and was made up by a "magnetic spiritualist". What you want is any PT, they can actually help you out with medical training.

Do PT, not chiropractic. There’s no science in that. I’ve gone to Endeavor Physical Therapy, and they were really good. You have to be constant with whatever you’re asked to do, otherwise no results. Some people like Airrosti but I didn’t get any results from them.

The problem is that you seem to be all skin and bones with no ligaments or muscles. You’re all set for Halloween, though.

Holy cow this is exactly my body. Ive been trying to figure this out for over a year.
Tried a PT and there was no progress. Via a ct scan, I found that my left hip socket is more open than my right hip socket. They literally sit at different angles.
I’m now trying Functional Patterns, a fitness program oriented that helps you learn how to use your full body for movement with gait and posture as core feedback mechanisms. I can’t speak to the results, but so far the training is great. I’m learning about anatomy, which muscles should be engaged during what basic movements, and where my specific deficits for muscle engagement are. It’s helping me understand what daily movements are reinforcing the hip hike and femur rotation etc, and learn how to move differently (“correctly”). Feel free to dm me if you want to hear how it goes. I’d love to trade notes with someone trying to fix literally the exact same issues

I had great success with Dr. Owee Mulay at Fyzical. She is a delight and really listens. She recommended at home exercises and we’d do them at our appointments, too. If my muscles were super tight, she’d do some needles. Due to hip flexor tightness, I was walking around with essentially my left leg “longer” than my right leg. When I would walk and move around, I’d have severe lower back pain. With her help, my pain has basically gone away (except for when I don’t keep up my exercises!). I can’t speak to how she would address your specific issue points, but I’d give her a shot.

Oh, I’d also recommend maybe seeing a podiatrist for your foot pronation. My boss was walking around with pain all over her body and it ended up she needed specific orthotics in her shoes. She ended up replacing a lot of her shoes and now inserts little orthotics in them. She can walk without pain now. I can’t remember her podiatrists name or clinic, but if you’re interested I can ask her.

I highly recommend dr. Nick Ingel at ATX PT. I’ve been to 6 other pt clinics in multiple states, this is the only place you can get 1-on-1, hands-on attention for the full visit from a doctor who has a very holistic view of the bodies mechanics and their interactions.
He does not take insurance because it would require him to maximize the number of patients he sees simultaneously, but his visits are not bank breaking. He has multiple times gone over time just to get to the core issue. The dude really cares about making people better. Most other places I’ve been might do some deep tissue work and then give me some exercises to do or a printout. Airosti is the one exception to this. They did help but did not address root causes and I was back in pt in a year. You cannot buy this kind of attention anywhere else
I’ve been dealing with chronic, worsening issues since before I got out of the marine corps over a decade ago and I’m now better than I was even then thanks to this guy. Can’t recommend him enough, he is a wizard

The only real way to address this is through physical training/therapy. I had very bad twisted pelvis and back pain and have worked with Motive Training for a few years. I do 1-1 personal training every week and its essentialy cured my back pain and we are now working on getting full range of motion and strength through that end range.
They also have an online approach thats much more affordable than 1-1 training every week. I'd suggest getting a functional range assessment so you really understand.

Is this scoliosis? https://scolioaustin.com/

It is not :’)
Self diagnosed myself: this is from birthing two babies, carrying them on my hips and never correcting the issue then… fast forward years later I’ve inconsistently kept up with mobility exercises :’) I signed up for the Austin 5k this past February then the Cap10k in April… stopped running and started a new job where I sit more. All of this has brought me back to being tired of feeling achy and wanting to fix this before it gets worse.

Looks very similar to my daughter's x-rays of her scoliosis, with asymmetry in hips and shoulders. Scroth exercises are all about alignment, breath, and building strength. The PTs at Scolio Austin set you up with an app to walk you through the exercises they have assigned. I can't say it worked for my daughter, bc she didn't do the exercises, but I can see how it would be helpful. They're very good at tips for how to stand/move/sleep in regular life to minimize the asymmetries.

Chiming in to say I currently go to scolio Austin as someone with muscle imbalances and chronic pain without scoliosis. I’ve had phenomenal results. I found their clinic to be way more educated on the muscle structures of the body probably because they are specialists. Highly recommend them!

Chiro bad. Airrosti good! There's a location at 3200 Red River my partner went to and was able to resolve a longstanding issue!

My wife has seen a lot of improvement being treated at Austin Life Chiro over the past few months, it’s off W. Anderson Lane. Good luck!

I see this comment/thread is getting some attention. I just mentioned the place where my wife is being treated. Thought it’s a chiropractic clinic her treatment is definitely more like physical therapy, ie stretching, posture, and strength exercises.
