i dont think people realize they dont have to show anyone their warrant except the individual being arrested. they are under no obligation to show random civilians.

35 years law enforcement California. I never showed anyone their ARREST warrant. I only had to have knowledge that it existed.
SEARCH warrant, a copy was given with the inventory receipt of all items seized.3

i feel like its a hippa thing right? they have a right to privacy in terms of cops showing random people any paperwork involved.

No, I meant even the people that I arrested didn't get a copy of their warrant. We don't walk around with it in our pocket. We also don't have printers in our cars, lol. Courts only require that we have knowledge the warrant exists. So tired of these randos screaming "Where's your warrant!?" 🙄.
HIPAA only relates to medical data.2

i was curious if there was some kind of hippa related to laws etc. i cited hippa as example since its all i knew about.
i thought it was required to show only the people, but it makes sense that yall dont have printers in your vehicles. figured you would get it at the start of your duty day. TIL.

Usually we're in the field and run someone. If dispatch says they have a warrant then we arrest them. No warrant in hand. Don't have to show them anything when we book them. Most people who have a warrant KNOW they have a warrant.

Modern leftism relies on a fundamental refusal to understand how things work. The trend of screaming at LEO's in the field about warrants and not one of them knowing that warrants aren't literally cartoon style "Wanted" posters comes across as deliberately ignorant.

You don't need a warrant to arrest someone who is committing an active crime
Being in the country illegally, is an ongoing active crime

I just realized there is a single account making all posts on this sub and it’s an automated account? I thought this was like people posting things.
