iPhone Fix iPhone 13 or buy 17?
I’m a creature of habit and hate change. Currently debating fixing my iPhone 13 (charge port is giving me issues) or buying a 17 outright. I’m frugal and typically keep my phones for as long as possible and only when needed I take over my husband’s old phone and he gets a new one (his work buys it). His current phone is the 14 though so it’s time I get a better upgrade. I’m Canadian and we really don’t get plan deals or phone deals anymore so I buy them and have a low cost bring your own device plan ($40/month).
I do want a better camera. My other main use is socials, email and very basic stuff. I don’t love the size of the pro models but may be swayed if I really would benefit from that camera keeping in mind I’m a point and shoot user.
I’m a very basic user so my thought was get the 17 with the largest storage available as I find that helps longevity. I haven’t priced out fixing the 13 yet. Thoughts?

I would get the 17 because it would cost alot to fix the 13 and the charging has problems

The base model 17 is same size as pro at 6.3 inch. Also you get 120hz action button usbc better battery and camera more software updates and security updates and a whole lot of other stuff

Thank you - I totally got the pro and pro max confused. The Apple Store only seems to have the 17 or 17e right now. Not sure I want to get refurbished for that much money I think I’d prefer new. Now I have more to think about.

17 and 17e are still available new at the Apple Store so that’s what you most likely seen

I would just get the 17. It’s a great phone and the 13 it past its prime, only a matter of time before more things start breaking. The mother board on my 12 pro max died after 4 years and Apple wanted $600

If the price of 17 is close to the 17 pro then get the pro

I can’t find a new pro available I missed my window it seems and the difference between 17 and 18 pro is too much for me.

Is it the charging port or some built up lint in the port preventing a secure connection?

Don’t know. I woke up one day to it not charging and an error stating liquid was detected which is wild as there is no way that would have happened. Now it’ll only charge with certain cords and bricks and some wiggling or my portable power bank.

Well one thing to consider if you haven't done it already. Try cleaning the port. If the port itself isn't the issue or the cable then it could be all the lint and stuff gets in there

Yes I’ll try. I’ve tried 4 cables and bricks and combos to rule those out. It threw an error one morning saying there was moisture detected and to let it dry. It wasn’t near water so I just carried on confused. I’ll look up how to properly clean the port - might save me a couple thousand and ill take a trip instead 😆

iphone 13 supports wireless charging via Qi(pronounced chi) chargers.
a 15W Qi charger is like $15USD on amazon

Don't repair it.
You can use wireless charging to extend the life of it for a while. Get a $10 Anker charging puck or something like that.
But plan to replace it, maybe when base 18 is released.
