Was the drive a combined total of 30 miles including my home trip, maybe. But just having one envelope package and finishing in an hour you bet I had my hands on the wheel on 10 and 2.

The delivery driver threw my package onto the porch. It didn’t end up damaging the contents, but I still feel like that’s not the right way to handle deliveries. Should I report it, or am I overreacting?

I suck at English and grammar, but I get math. Here’s that math below:

McDonald’s is better than taking base pay on amazon flex and it’s not close. I’m convinced people think they are making a substantially better living, but it’s actually a $7000 a year benefit for base pay takers to just run the drive through at mickeydees. Here’s why.

McDonald’s is usually in the $15/h range, so let’s say $120 per day. This is assuming you never get a raise or promotion. At 40 hours works out to $600

Mcdonalds typically offers some kind of low end PTO/sick day /health insurance, though not in every case.

Many people have a McDonald’s within 3 miles of their home, so I won’t factor in gas as it’s negligible.

With amazon flex, theres not always 8 hours of work but let’s pretend there is. There’s also no such thing as advancement or a promotion. 8h x $16 an hour = $128 per day, .(yes I know base is slightly different elsewhere) or $640 a week.

Average mileage per hour with amazon, I’ve noticed, is about 20. So about 160 miles per day or 800 miles per week.

Let’s say you have a fuel efficient 30mpg car. With gas around $3.70, that’s 5.33 gallons of gas for about $20 of gas a day or $100 a week. Already, McDonald’s is a better pure profit. With McDonald’s at $600 weekly and amazon at at amazon at $540 a week

I haven’t even talked about how 800 miles a week, or 40,000 miles per year on your car is obliterating its value, hurrying along oil changes, tire wear, and typical repairs cars need.

Working at McDonald’s, you might get 8-10 years from a vehicle. Working for amazon flex, youre not likely to get more than 4. So now you have a 15,000 expenditure every 4 years instead of 8. That has to be factored into compensation. $15,000 over 8 years is about $1900 a year,

McDonald’s 40 hours a week (at $15) 52 weeks a year = $31,200

Amazon flex 40 hours a week (at base $16) 52 weeks a year = $33,280.

Minus gas (about $5200 per year) $28,080)

Minus a $1900 car cost per year over 8 years. (One car needed with McDonald’s permission 8 years, two needed with amazon)

$26,180.

I haven’t even discussed your insurance cost doubling if you’re honest with your car insurance about doing delivery work.

One last concern. We know there are many times where work isn’t available. Regardless… just holding out for a small increase to $24 an hour surges would change this math from 33280 net to $49920, now do your deductions, and you’re still at $43020, substantially more valuable than McDonald’s work.

$24 an hour is a low number to hold out for…. But If you’re driving for base, you’re effectively making $11 an hour. $12.50 an hour. You’re robbing yourself.

Do they not show you what customer tipped what amount? I had an order from Weis that drop off was 6 diff houses. Says total tip amount was $21. Tf. So basically each customer tipped around $3.50 if that’s the case. One house was damn near 40 minutes each way

Hai new to the group I recently just signed up for Amazon flex and got put on the waitlist does anyone know how long it usually takes?

I expected to get some good offers but am literally not getting offers and if I do it’s 3.5 for 55 which is lower than the usual. WTF is going on. I know there are new drivers, including 2 of my daughters, but you can’t explain the math that shows that we are getting more packages than ever but there isn’t enough money to pay for the amount of flexors they added on.

Over 400 AQI this morning. Did 9 of my 44 deliveries yesterday, was getting dizzy and called support and returned the rest. Went in early this morning, it’s worse outside, scanned to see where my route was… wasn’t having it! 😂 No n95 masks available. Left the cart, called support and bounced. Still get paid. People still loading their cars and delivering in this bs for some reason.

Today at 5:15 PM, I picked up a four hour block that started at 6 PM. I arrived on time and they handed me a cart and it only had 13 packages on it so I was like wow that’s not much. the one I did the other day had 44 packages and that was a 3 1/2 hour Block. The 3 1/2 hour block took me about 1 hr away at 30 miles before my first delivery bec of bad rush hour traffic. Well today, my first delivery was an hour and a half away at 79 miles. I get up there and the route is all over the place and none of the houses are close to each other and I’m criss crossing back-and-forth across the city of Bethlehem. I have one more package left and the app said I was finished. I look at the package and it was in Easton PA, which was still another 30 minutes away. I called customer service and they tell me that I need to bring the package back so that was another 30 minutes out of my way to deliver the package back. I get there and it says I need to scan the package before I put it in the box. There’s nowhere to scan because the block disappeared from my screen because it said I was done. I called customer service and they say they’ll put a note on it and I took a video of me returning it to the Box. I was supposed to be paid for the block and it hasn’t showed up yet in my earnings. The one the other day showed up instantly on my first delivery tonight the owner came outside after I dropped off the package on his porch and stood there with his dog as the dog violently barked at me and I told him I was Amazon and he just stared me down and then watched me as I made a U-turn at the end of his street because it’s a dead end Until I left the street. Any advice on getting blocks that aren’t 65 miles away? . I had to go on the turnpike and that’s a lot of tolls. The guy that pulled in in front of me got a four hour block and probably 25 packages and they were all within the Philadelphia area. I really don’t wanna have to drive 79 miles before my first drop off. It was such a miserable night and didn’t seem worth it.

I dropped off a package, took the picture, and was forced into a survey. I had seven more deliveries to go. I started a chat for help and was told that all my packages were dropped off (clearly not), and was advised to return the packages. Anyone else have this issue? Is this a common thing? I'm only three days in.

The offer amount seem to be reducing… I’m sure the amount of miles I need to drive isn’t tho

After struggling to book my daily sunrise shift more and more each day I decided to try groceries. Now I wait to see the tips and whether it was worth it.🤞

I drive out of DPH8 4to 6 times a week between 5 PM and 6 PM, and never have had any issue in getting blocks in the evening/afternoon. For some reason this week not one offer has posted. Does anyone have any idea what’s up?

businesses were closed. shift at 4:30 PM and more than half of my deliveries were to auto body shops and businesses and all the businesses closed by 4:30pm to 5pm. Why would they give me a route where most of the packages needed to be delivered by 5 PM when it starts at 4:30 PM? I’ve already reached out to customer service once and I probably need to do it again to make sure it doesn’t go against my standings. The thing that sucked is the route ended two blocks from my house and I had to drive all the way out of the way to go back to the warehouse.

Being sent on 100 milers for 4 hours each morning for between 106-112 (sadly this is the surge here) and getting tired of it. Wondering if worth asking for adjustment or just quit this block time at the ssd and move back ti groceries.

I’m a flex driver and also an Amazon driver associate. I’m not sure if anyone groups their stops together in the app when the homes are close in proximity, but if you do, please stop. It does not present an accurate route count for Amazon drivers. We’ll get 180 stops in the app and then realize half of the stops have 2 or three more homes or apartments included per stop which brings the stops WAY higher than expected and also takes much longer. Its a major complaint from the DA drivers. I never knew it when i drove for flex. Thanks 🙏🏽

Hi does anyone know where these 3 and 3.5 hour blocks go generally out of vpa2 I am really feeling the suffering of the 4 and 4.5 hour am blocks. They are just too far. Today was straight to phoenixville.

And other days this week it was media, garnet valley and more. I can't even remember all the places but always far af. And the places are loaded with deer. I just feel like it's only a matter of time before I hit one and things get even worse for me.

It's at least a half of tank of gas every time and averaging 100 miles or a little more.

I was scheduled for 7:15pm and the people from 6:45 PM weren’t even allowed inside the warehouse until almost 7:30pm It was completely backed up because the manager had to manually scan every single route because they didn’t have any two hour routes and everybody was a two hour route. They only had 3.5 hour routes so they had to have everybody just take one bag and split the routes in half. I didn’t even leave there until almost 7:50 PM. They didn’t even scan my ID until 7:35 PM. I told him that it’s gonna show up late in the app and he said they called to let them know that they were running behind and it shouldn’t show up. Just wondering if because they were splitting routes if people are gonna get in trouble because I’ve seen peoples accounts being deactivated because routes have been split but the warehouse said it was fine. Another warehouse last night was giving me left over packages and had no routes for me and only gave me three packages for a two hour route. The manager tonight was nice, but they have no idea how the flex app punishes us. The manager said take a bag and then scanned a code that said no routes available and then told us to manually add the packages to our route. Also, some guy kept following me around trying to take my packages and he’s like you have way too many packages and I was like no I don’t. I have eight that’s one bag. That’s what we were told to take. He followed me to my car and kept saying I’ll take some of your packages and I said no and he goes technically you can just take one. I saw another guy walk up and just take three packages and that was it. What a wild night. There was like 40 cars there with 5 lanes completely full. And the same was true inside when we had to wait outside all that time.
