Didn't expect a robot to feel this warm.

Autonomous Lamp moves, changes colors and lights up when you are around. No sharp edges, no intimidating screen, just something small and alive sitting on your desk making the whole room feel different.

What would you put this next to in your setup?

accidentally used AI to fix my broken washing machine

So here's the thing, I was totally not expecting to dive into the world of AI just to fix my washing machine. But life is weird like that, right? Last week, my washing machine decided to stop spinning. Just flat out refused. I was dreading calling a repair service because, honestly, who has the time and the extra cash for that?

Anyway, I was messing around with ChatGPT, mostly for fun, and I thought, why not ask it about my problem? I typed something like "washing machine wont spin" and I was shocked at how it started breaking down potential issues. I mean, it threw out a bunch of possibilities like belt issues or a faulty lid switch.

Long story short, I followed some of the troubleshooting steps it suggested and turns out, the lid switch was indeed the culprit.

Anyone else remember the absolute chaos of early 2000s MP3 players?

I just found my old creative Zen MuVo in a box in the attic. It literally looks like a chunky USB thumb drive with a tiny, glowing blue screen that could display exactly one line of text.

Remember the absolute grind of manually editing ID3 tags just so the track name didn't look like "TRACK_01_ALBUM_FX-FIXED(VBR).mp3"? Or trying to compress a whole album down to 128kbps just to fit 15 songs on a 64MB card?

We have infinite streaming now, but man, there was something so satisfying about carefully curating that tiny digital space. What was your very first digital music player, and what was the one song you kept on it no matter what?

AI is gradually taking over and providing services at public places. I hope they can perform in the same way at Railway Station also and not just at the fancy airports.

Camera and wired only technology cities. A new form of wireless

Cameras everywhere and there's no wirless and no smartphone.

We have phone booths everywhere where when you look at one, it displays your name if you have a new message. It can have a color to your name to alert you how important the message might be.

You then go to the booth and you can see the message instantly and then walk away, or voice respond a message back.

At your house, your can look at your monitor or pc where it will show an image if you have a new message. Where you can move closer and it shares the whole thing.

When you sit down at a PC, you don't need to wake it up or even log in, it aleardy knew it was you with cameras litterally everywhere.

Even at the public library, the pc just logs you in. You can have a code if super worried but that's unlikely.

We have no more smartphones, but possible pocket cameras with music playing abilities, note taking and more, no internet required. Or we just have no more smartphones.

It's all Monitors PCs, tablet monitors, or tvs. Where they all have microphones and cameras making them work without touch for responses.

We can even create gestures since we are on camera all the time. Like patting your head to send an auto reply. Or moving your arm up to adjust tv volume, holding it there until it's where you want it.

The cameras could be used for technology only and not for surveillance, though we still have the option to use it for that, lowering our crime amounts.

The Ames Room: How a Distorted Trapezoidal Room Forces Your Brain to Choose Illusion Over Reality

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The Ames Room is a beautifully engineered architectural optical illusion invented by Adelbert Ames Jr. in 1934. When viewed through a monocular peephole, it looks like a perfectly rectangular cubic room. However, the room is actually a skewed trapezoid where one corner is twice as far from the viewer as the other. Walking across the room makes a person appear to miraculously shrink into a dwarf or expand into a giant.
