How do Republicans use a religion based on "free will" to force obedience by passing laws?

Christianity is absolutely not based on free will. The whole shtick is obedience to a higher power.
Religion as a whole has been used as a tool for power and subjugation since ancient times.

the fundamental view of conservatives is that god wants them to obey but jesus wants them to have free will, so they use their free will to follow god, because it is clearly more pure and divine if they choose to follow over being forced to... As a conclusion, they want to force everyone else to voluntarily do the same... /s

A large proportion of Evangelicals are some strain of Calvinist which do not believe in free will.

While I agree, I find that most Evangelicals are ignorant about their faith and couldn't comprehend your comment.

Because most Christian’s are in it out of the fear of Hell, the hope of heaven, or the social activities. They don’t read the Bible and they absolutely don’t think.

Since when is Christianity a religion of free will. It can be boiled down to "Do what I say or I will burn you for literally eternity". And before you start I was a Christian for me any years before the Bible convinced me it was a bad idea.

Religion is a form of forced obedience. Do what I say or burn in hell, how is that free will?

The old law was "obey or go to hell"
The new way was "choose love and go to heaven"
Feel free to point out that few variants actually preach that new way in practice though

Modern Christianity (but not Catholicism) teaches that people have free will to do as the Lord wants or not. It is implied that if you do as the Lord wants, your life will be more meaningful and fulfilling. However, to go to Heaven, all you need is faith that Jesus is Lord. Technically, no obedience necessary to go to Heaven, however those who have faith are likely to live by Christian values

This is why I cant take christians seriously. You dont like the rules in the bible ao you just choose to ignore them. If you can ignore what you dont like then I can just reject it all.

You're still free to disobey. Just understand that you walk in to Hell of your own free will.

So if I put a gun to your head and demand you give me all your money you think you are using free will when you chose to give it to me?

You are.
Free will is still limited to what the world around you allows.

You dont have free will if a threat is involved. Free will would be if there are no threats involved in your choice.

Despite the claims, NO religion is based on "free will." In fact, one of any religion's explicit purpose is too oppose/eliminate free will.

This assumes the MAGAts will care.
They have embraced Double-Think with a skill that would have made Orwell's head spin.

If you you think they play bypass any rules or guided by any sort of noble principles or ethics, you aren't paying attention.

"How do Liberalists use an ideology based on 'freedom rights' to force obedience by passing specific freedom definitions (aka laws)" aahhhh question.
Can't we all just agree that free will and consequences are two forking different things?

So you don’t think there should be laws?
4
u/miked_mv 1d ago
I think all laws should protect where necessary and other than protecting someone shouldn't exist.
