This year, It's actually a spinoff called 'get freaked out about burning trash bins in France's

5

u/999forever 3d ago

and throw in some ebola, but that usually just gets trotted out when a Dem is in charge.

1

u/VitruvianDude 2d ago

They tried smallpox one year, but that went over as well as expected. Maybe plague? You've got our Russian friends, and we've helpfully gutted our disease tracking network.

2

u/elwebst 3d ago

And they are coming straight for you and your grandchildren!

92

u/foldingcouch 3d ago

Can't forget the great "I'm a life-long Democrat but I just can't vote for them this year because (some bullshit pet issue) and I am offended you would even consider the fact that the Republicans are infinitely worse on (the issue that is allegedly very important to me) because voting for the lesser evil is actually the greatest evil of them all, somehow."

52

u/DoctorBlock 3d ago

The "both sides are the same" crowd are already spamming every "meme" subreddit.

21

u/Kewped 3d ago

And as it turns out, the opposition is EVEN WORSE for my pet issue. Guess I better sit this one out or vote third party!

20

u/Ddddydya 3d ago

“I don’t care about the rights of any person of color, or LGBT person, or woman, or disabled person, or poor person but I’ll be GODAMMED if I’ll let the right of unborn zygotes that I’ll never meet in my life get trampled!!!1!!!1”

14

u/Mr_Abe_Froman 3d ago

I was going to vote Democrat, but they're mean to Nazis.

9

u/SharMarali 3d ago

Somehow, a large number of people have become convinced that the way to effect change is to do nothing.

And another large number of people have become convinced that arguing with people on the internet is activism, and that they’re doing extremely important work by picking fights with people who aren’t interested.

5

u/foldingcouch 3d ago

People (on both sides) have a lot of frustration and they want to feel like they're doing something.  The online sphere has been very carefully curated to direct left leaning folks to feel like they're doing something by purity testing Democrats into oblivion, and direct right wing folks into feeling like they're doing something by beating Democrats into oblivion.

8

u/Questionsiaskthem 3d ago

I was amazingly shocked a few days ago in a thread that had people legitimately saying they would not vote for the "lesser of two evils" That not voting for a candidate is how you tell them you don't agree with them and get them to change their policy.

13

u/foldingcouch 3d ago

These "people" show up every election season like clockwork.  They will have laser-beam focus why you should never ever ever vote for a Democrat, and stubbornly refuse to address the fact that Republicans exist.

People do not realize how extensively social media is astroturfed.  Just look at how America was endlessly up in arms demanding action on Gaza right up to the minute where Trump won and 90% of the people who cared so much about it just dropped it and stopped caring.  That's not organic, that's an aggressively pushed online narrative that was used to drive people away from the Democrats and it worked.

10

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

A candidate is a bus. You pick the one that gets you closest to where you want to be, then do a little legwork.

5

u/Questionsiaskthem 3d ago

I agree. Someone did say that and the answers were no you don't vote for ether to let them know you disagree. Was infuriating lol

8

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

If your vote is off the table, why would anyone negotiate with you?

I've yet to find any protest voter who can actually answer that. They tend to ignore the part where they say their vote is lost already.

0

u/Bearwhale 3d ago

It's a little different when one candidate is saying they want to eliminate you, and the other is also saying they want to eliminate you, but maybe if you vote for them they won't actually do it because they're a Democrat.

See: "liberals" willing to throw trans people under the bus.

0

u/Quantum_Hispanics 2d ago

Be offended then idiot lol

10

u/The_Pecking_Order 3d ago

What happened with Almonds? Also not to be that guy but anecdotally, the people who I've had to ask to please stop calling me LatinX are all my friends (we're all very left).

4

u/sododude 3d ago

I'm Colombian and it pisses me tf off. How do you even say it.

If you really must, use a neutral letter, I've seen people use Latine, (pronounced -eh) which isn't a total shitshow to say. I have no problem with that at all.

0

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Name 3 people you've even see use the word sincerely.

2

u/sododude 3d ago

Bro I don't need to do that. If u wanna believe I'm British go off king idgaf. Just know you're genuinely not in a healthy frame of mind.

5

u/Fenway_Bark 3d ago

Yeah Latinx isn't a thing in the Hispanic community. It's still Latino/a. Only white liberals use it here.

-18

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Nope, go suck this dick in a thread where people believe you.

5

u/Fenway_Bark 3d ago

I really don’t give a shit if you believe it or not. It’s what I’ve experienced. Let me clarify, only white liberals from white communities use. I’m a white liberal and do not use it because I live in a diverse Hispanic area and they don’t use it.

-10

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Now do the one about transgender athletes.

-11

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

4

u/The_Pecking_Order 3d ago

I hide my history from people exactly like you who will go to see how they can discredit someone just because of what they post on Reddit. I’ve been on here for almost 15 years buddy as opposed to your 7 months

-4

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Yeah right wing shitheads can't have old accounts.

10

u/sododude 3d ago

You do realize you're coming off as insane right?

-2

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

British right-wing guy with opinions of how common a phantom-issue is. Try this again please.

3

u/sododude 3d ago

Wait are you saying I'm British and right wing lmfaooo

-2

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

No American says "cocked up." History, doofnugget.

I can see the astroturf in real time. Now do that bit where you use the abuser's manual of calling somebody crazy for noticing your bullshit. As if it's not obvious.

4

u/sododude 3d ago

Crazy that the world isn't relegated to American or British. You are lost in the sauce bro. Get off the internet and interact with actual people.

-1

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Columbians don't say it either, you weird astroturfing larper.

Just like nobody actually says "Latinx." Streisand-effecting weiner.

California is the world's largest almond supplier. Republican hate California

5

u/CAcastaway 3d ago

All the farmers that grow almonds in California are Republican unfortunately.

2

u/jcoddinc 3d ago

Gop hates them all equally though

7

u/3OAM 3d ago

"Pay attention to your fear of others and what they're doing with their bodies. Think about how scared you are of it! Don't worry about the billionaires robbing you blind and making plans to further pen you in."

5

u/itDoobiedatway 3d ago

Are they for or against almonds?

7

u/ohlookahipster 3d ago

People point to CA’s almond farming as environmental hypocrisy given our droughts and water issues.

To be fair, as a life long resident, rationing water in the Bay while watching farming operations continue as normal in SoCal is legitimately frustrating and does lead to a lot of infighting. Unfortunately, people will call you a “radical leftist” or “MAGA” depending on which side you take.

I personally don’t get the appeal of almonds, water issues aside.

2

u/itDoobiedatway 3d ago

This is what I’m saying. Almonds are definitely bad. MAGA bad too but if they’re anti Almonds that’s one I can get behind.

4

u/damik 3d ago

"Almonds are woke bruh."

2

u/JustHugMeAndBeQuiet 3d ago

Can confirm. Source: I love almonds and I am awake right now. Can't be a coincidence.

3

u/Krail 3d ago edited 3d ago

The astroturfing on Askreddit and Nostupidquestions has been surreal this season. Lots of lazily framed comtroversial questions a little disconnected from reality, hoping to start fights, with threads full of rude dismissive comments. Lots of posts that don't seem to understand that Askreddit is for discussions and stories. Some really bizarre, surreal questions like "what's harder, losing weight or gaining height?"

It's real weird. Curious what's going on there. Like, is this what happens when they use LLMs for the astroturfing? Is there some more intentional angle here!

2

u/Good_Nyborg 3d ago

I wonder if we'll actually get any commercials about the "Evil Canadian Empire" this time around?

2

u/vegandread 3d ago

Coming soon: Immigrant caravans! Heading for your city to take all of your jobs and make delicious tacos.

2

u/raviyoli 2d ago

Im not a republican but I am Latina and “Latinx” is some bullshit.

3

u/camthedestroyer 3d ago

Anyone swayed by that stuff was already voting for them anyway.

1

u/thedarkone47 3d ago

To be fair. Growing almonds in a desert is really dumb.

1

u/Old-Sprinkles3135 3d ago

Don't forget avocado toast And vegans.

1

u/Justonchu 2d ago

If there really was a migrant caravan they would have already posted feed from a predator drone hitting it, on X the everything app. who are we kidding?

1

u/got-bent 2d ago

I was flipping channels the other day and I stopped on fox news for a minute. They were showing a (supposed) migrant caravan getting ready to start moving the moment Democrats win.

1

u/Quantum_Hispanics 2d ago

Still pushing youre white latinx in non white people lol

1

u/Ddddydya 3d ago

They used to talk about gun grabbing a lot. I’m not seeing it this cycle. Maybe next time

-15

u/InGod_WeThrust 3d ago

Aren't you basically doing the same thing here? Downplaying real perceived issues to.kake the other side look bad?

13

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

real perceived issues

Thanks for the war, the rapist in office, the protected epstein molesters, the high power bills, spiking grocery prices, poisoned food, the data centers, and masked thugs yanking people off the street without charge.

But go on about girlpeen. The real issue.

-2

u/InGod_WeThrust 3d ago

Nice way to do it again and prove my point.

3

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Have some lettuce. At your rural hospital that's still open. With the cheap gas that you can totally afford.

1

u/InGod_WeThrust 3d ago

Outbreaks happen every year. Oil per barrel is cheaper than during Biden and now it's just price fixing by companies, hense the investigation they opened. Just like they did on egg companies and fined them for creating a cartel

3

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Chase it down with some raw milk. Gotta make sure you shit and vomit all day.

2

u/InGod_WeThrust 3d ago

Amazing deflection. Truly showing how you're blind to anything the propaganda has told you to ignore

3

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

It's okay, the measles will have fun with you too. Just don't get a vaccine.

1

u/InGod_WeThrust 3d ago

Keep showing people that you're misinformed and warped by propaganda

5

u/mwilke 3d ago

I can’t think of a single “real issue” that any Republican has a serious answer to

0

u/InGod_WeThrust 3d ago

The claim that Republicans have no serious issues to form their opinions around is a striking example of how political narratives can distort the perception of an entire group of people.

Republicans have legitimate policy concerns involving the economy, national security, public safety, individual liberty, and the future of the country. Yet these concerns are often reframed in political discourse in ways that assign the worst possible motives to the people who hold them.

Consider the actual issues:

1. Economic opportunity. Republicans argue that excessive taxation and regulation can discourage investment, hiring, and business growth. The ability to afford a home, raise a family, save for retirement, and build a business affects millions of Americans. Reducing every argument for lower taxes to “Republicans only care about the rich” sidesteps the actual economic debate.

2. Border security. A country has a legitimate interest in controlling its borders, enforcing immigration laws, and disrupting human trafficking and smuggling. Supporting border enforcement does not inherently mean opposing immigrants or harboring racial prejudice. Wanting an orderly immigration system and supporting legal immigration are entirely compatible positions.

3. Public safety. People deserve to live in communities where they aren't afraid of violent crime. Supporting law enforcement and consistent enforcement of criminal laws is a legitimate position rooted in protecting victims and maintaining public order. It isn't synonymous with supporting police misconduct or opposing accountability.

4. Protecting unborn life. The pro-life position stems from the moral conviction that human life before birth has value and deserves protection. That is a genuine ethical position, not simply a desire to control women. Reducing the entire pro-life movement to that accusation dismisses the underlying belief that an unborn human being deserves moral consideration.

5. Energy independence. Reliable, affordable energy affects household bills, manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, and national security. Supporting domestic energy production and reducing dependence on foreign suppliers raises legitimate economic and strategic concerns. It is possible to care about the environment while also caring about energy affordability and reliability.

6. Parental rights. Parents have a legitimate interest in their children's education, school policies, and how sensitive subjects are handled. Advocating for parental involvement and transparency is not inherently bigotry or opposition to education. These are questions about parental authority, children's welfare, and the responsibilities of educational institutions.

7. Personal responsibility. Emphasizing work, accountability, and self-reliance reflects the belief that people should have opportunities to support themselves and their families. That doesn't automatically mean believing people who struggle deserve to suffer. There is a substantive policy debate about how to help people through hardship while encouraging long-term independence.

8. Election integrity. Secure elections, transparent procedures, reliable audits, and public confidence in democratic institutions are legitimate concerns. Safeguards should protect election integrity while ensuring eligible citizens can vote, and claims of fraud must be supported by credible evidence.

These are not fringe concerns or meaningless talking points. They involve the economy, public safety, national sovereignty, fundamental moral convictions, family responsibilities, and the integrity of democratic institutions.

This is where the distortion becomes apparent. When legitimate policy concerns are repeatedly presented through the most negative possible interpretation of the people holding them, the audience stops seeing the underlying issues and starts seeing a caricature.

Border security becomes racism. Fiscal restraint becomes hatred of the poor. Parental rights become bigotry. Support for law enforcement becomes authoritarianism. Opposition to abortion becomes nothing more than controlling women.

Specific policies can certainly deserve criticism, and politicians should be held accountable for their actions. But attributing the worst possible motive to everyone who supports a position is not the same as addressing that position honestly.

When a political feed consistently presents one side's concerns as legitimate and the other side's concerns as evidence of bad character, it creates a distorted picture of reality. Algorithms that prioritize emotionally charged content can reinforce that effect, repeatedly exposing people to material that confirms their existing views.

The result is that people can become so accustomed to seeing political opponents portrayed as villains that they stop recognizing the legitimate questions those opponents are trying to answer.

You don't have to agree with Republican policies to recognize that the issues behind them are real. But claiming that Republicans have no serious issues to base their opinions on requires ignoring the substance of those issues altogether.

1

u/strickt 1d ago

Economic Opportunity: Trump imposed broad tariffs, departing from free-market trade.

Border Security: Trump proposed ending constitutional birthright citizenship for immigrants.

Public Safety: Trump pardoned individuals convicted of assaulting law enforcement officers.

Protecting Unborn Life: Trump opposed federal abortion restrictions, preferring state-by-state laws.

Energy Independence: Trump used federal power to favor fossil fuels over renewables.

Parental Rights: Trump sought federal mandates on local school curricula nationwide.

Personal Responsibility: Trump refused to reform spending on Social Security and Medicare.

Election Integrity: Trump pressured state election officials to alter verified vote tallies.

-34

u/Diddles96 3d ago

Can’t we just agree both parties suck? Same team

15

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Ed Sheeran, hush.

12

u/Butt_Patties 3d ago

Not even close to the same amount, but nice try.

6

u/mwilke 3d ago

One of those parties is not trying to imprison my friends for using a bathroom, or enriching themselves with crypto scams, or removing black and female leadership from the military, or rejecting germ theory, or questioning if women should still have the right to vote, or calling for a foreign power to bomb our cities

1

u/[deleted] 3d ago

0

u/Diddles96 3d ago

If you don't believe it or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry

-57

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

And Democrats broke out their old stale playbook of "get trump". That play is ten years old now. At least the Republican classics will still play after his presidency, Democrats need to find a new cause at some point

41

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Yeah, why would we want to stop the rapist who shits his pants between threatening to bomb US cities? The guy taking children off the streets with masked thugs? The one who spiked every price in America with his dipshit war?

That guy is AWESOME.

-33

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Just saying it won't play in 2028 and beyond. They might want a platform to stand on that isn't so reliant on their enemy being in the spotlight

21

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Your concernTM is noted.

I'm sure Trump won't impact you whatsoever in the future. LOL

-7

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Business has been booming due to his impact. The lumber mill I work at is selling lumber that is still in the woods with a raccoon living in it. The lumber tariffs have worked out beautifully for me. I wrote off tons of my overtime this last tax season and got a huge return. And new factories are being built in my area as we speak. Thank God he is impacting me

8

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Enjoy that hospital closure then. I'm sure it's fine to lose your only OB-GYNs because your boss makes more money.

2

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

I don't even have a vagina. Why would OBGYN be an issue that sways my vote at all. People vote for their interests. Appealing to someone else's interest is a shit tactic. If vagina doctors are your issue, then vote for that. It's not my issue. My boss has given out four massive bonus checks to every employee so far this year with more on the horizon. It's been a gangbusters year for every employee. Wages, bonus', and more opportunities for good work from more factories, more mills, more jobs. These things matter to me. If I make more money I can build a better life. If I lose access to an OBGYN, my life doesn't change AT ALL.

7

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Bold talk of reproductive healthcare complexity from the man who doesn't know tariffs are taxes.

You will never find another willing vagina in your life, and it's going to be hilarious.

8

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Also: A tariff is a tax.

So try this one again, and this time with object permanence.

13

u/SpacePenguin5 3d ago

Ironic considering the last couple of presidential elections the Republicans literally didn't release a platform.

Democrats have a platform, it just doesn't break conservative echo chambers.

-5

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Tax me more so my life becomes more affordable is the only message other than "get trump" that I've heard. It's a bold strategy, let's see if it works out for them in 2028

6

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Trump increased your taxes more than any Democrat ever has. That's what a tariff is.

Try again. Because I just see a guy who likes bigotry.

6

u/malibuconman 3d ago

Zero thoughts on Trump’s tariffs, I’m guessing.

4

u/SpacePenguin5 3d ago

If you're negatively impacted by Democrats proposals for a tax increase you are making over $300k/year.

I really couldn't care less how unaffordable things are for you when your making that much. I'm already paying for your giant tax break due to the $4T "big beautiful" bill you left the working class holding.

3

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

🤣🤣😅😅🤣 oh you actually believe the politician when he said he will tax everyone else but you lol. And then you believed them that somehow taxing a rich person makes your life more affordable🤣😅. Because we all know when my neighbor gets poorer that means I am now richer because.... reasons

7

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Tariffs are taxes, literate one.

1

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

No, they are excises. Paid for my the importer. They make foreign goods more expensive to bolster domestic production. If you work in domestic production (me) then the tariffs are a huge positive that keep Canadian lumber out which bolsters the domestic demand. That's why we are making so much damn money at the lumber mill. Because corpos that want to use cheap foreign labor and lax regulations don't want to pay Americans and keep their money here

1

u/SpacePenguin5 3d ago

"Rich Man Doesn't Like 'Eat the Rich'" - News at 11.

0

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

How would a poorer billionaire make you richer? Making somebody poorer doesn't increase your quality of life at all. In fact, it can lead to lay offs, downsizing, pay reductions etc. But who cares if you are unemployed as long as you are hurting the rich in the process.

3

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Because if my boss is poorer then he will pay me more money. That's how taxes make my life more affordable I guess?

5

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

"One day it will trickle down," said the man soaking in piss.

-12

u/PostMatureBaby 3d ago

theyre politicians, theyre all getting rich off this bullshit. they dont actually care. we're the ones who treat politics like sports for whatever reason when it's always been rich vs poor

10

u/Futrel 3d ago

"bOtH siDeS"

-4

u/PostMatureBaby 3d ago

greed will always triumph

15

u/sadimem 3d ago

It's not get Trump. It's defeat MAGA and I'm here for it. The GOP has shown they lead like clowns.

-6

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Vance 2028. You know it's happening, I know it's happening. Democrats have a shit bench and I don't think any one of them could beat JD or Marco. Mark my words

8

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

The fat guy who can't figure out donuts, who hates his own kids and mother, is an open Schismatic, and openly admits to lying?

Yeah. Sure..

0

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Who is beating him? Kamala 2028? She looks like she is rearing to go this session. She only had 107 days to campaign last cycle after all. If she just had more time she could pull off the win for sure

4

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

A dead squirrel with a roman candle in its ass is more appealing than JD Vance.

(Also, tariffs are taxes.)

1

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

$20 says the Democrats will find someone that will lose where a dead squirrel would have succeeded

3

u/AlexDaGreatful 3d ago

Is that $20 tariffed? LOL what a dipshit.

6

u/sadimem 3d ago

The couch fucker with no charisma? He's a joke.

2

u/Fenway_Bark 3d ago

$100 you’d have voted for Hitler

4

u/malibuconman 3d ago

Now I know you’re just trolling.

1

u/mrswashbuckler 3d ago

Let me hear your pick for president and then I can judge how much of a troll you are. Where is the Democrat savior? Who will be the best of them in 2028?

2

u/malibuconman 3d ago

Ossoff could be good. Thankfully we have plenty of time to figure that out. Cool that you have your lame, unpopular pick that even Republicans don't like. But you prefer Peter Thiel's lapdog.

3

u/dblan9 3d ago

Yeah how dare they pester a 34x convicted felon who raped children? He is Jesus 2.0! Don't they know that!?!?

1

u/Koobuto 7h ago

Oh, don't forget calling Democrats racists!
