For all the other people that are going through with this sudden departure I would also like to add Ace and Andrade.

Even if you don't have any connections It must make you feel something weird knowing that your someone's last victory and last match

Andrade and Pac had a pretty wild little rivalry going between Andrades AEW runs. They had 2 bangers in 2021 and wrapped it up 2-1 at All Out. Andrade even posted about it before the news broke.

One of the most spectacular wrestling moves I've ever seen. It was pure joy to watch him pull it off, I'm fucking crushed that he can't do it anymore. We're gonna miss the hell out of our Bastard

On one hand, I want to see a tribute Black Arrow. On the other, who can even do it? Best it stays with him.

I think Ricochet or Will Ospreay are the only ones skilled and agile enough to do it.

u/TwoTrueAggies 13d ago

I hope that Ospreay or Ricochet adopts the move, use it sparingly, and it's just as deadly as ever.  These two are the only ones I can fathom being able to perform the move.

To be honest, the one wrestler I'd like to adopt it as a special occasion move is Nick Wayne due to sentimental reasons.

u/naranja_sanguina 13d ago

I could see Nick Wayne pulling it off!

Man, these are the kind of quiet stories that come out later that just show you what a caring, sweet human they were.

What a sweet bastard 😭

u/Krelleth 13d ago

Yeah, if Nick can pull it off reliably, instant face turn.

Unfortunately, Will recently said that he can now longer do the shooting star press because of his neck, I would imagine that as the first rotation in the black arrow is really similar to that move he wouldn't be able to safely pull it off

3

u/StrykerGryphus 13d ago

Once upon a time, before the Black Arrow was even called the Red Arrow, it was just plainly called a Corkscrew Shooting Star Press so you're exactly right

3

u/thomasmbaciocco Ospreay’s Hidden Blade 13d ago

Didn’t Ospreay used to do it years ago when he was way slimmer? That and the imploding 450. I swear I can picture it.

u/fakuryu 12d ago

I'm so happy this aged well, Will executed the Black Arrow perfectly.

25

u/ArchDukeNemesis 13d ago

Speedball and Kommander could probably handle it.

Though imagine if Ace Austin himself adopted the move.

u/SomeCountryFriedBS 13d ago

I forgot about those fookin' thighs.

10

u/urbanknight4 13d ago

I was just thinking that. It's unfair to speculate especially since it's not our move to give out, but it would be sick if some form of continuity like that happened. I think it would be touching if Ace was the last to take it and now he uses it, but this is just fantasy booking atp and I'd rather the most respectful thing happen, regardless of the outcome.

I'm just hurting, man. I loved seeing PAC and I miss him

3

u/fakuryu 13d ago

How did I forget about Speedball and Kommader?

6

u/TeePee11 13d ago

Only one that really springs to mind for me is Ricochet and maybe Matt Sydal.

The level of aerial control and core strength is utterly off the charts. Even someone like Ospreay I wouldn’t be 100% confident in pulling it off - Ospreay is fantastic, but a lot of his execution is speed and momentum, whereas the Black Arrow is centred about pure body control. Genuinely not sure if we ever see it again tbh.

20

u/SomeCountryFriedBS 13d ago

Ospreay better not fucking try it with his 2026 neck.

u/ThisIsKhrox Blackpool Book Club Aficionado 13d ago

Komander probably could do it as well, dude has really good control of his body and does a few top rope moves that I wouldn’t think most people could do safely

2

u/TeePee11 13d ago

Yeah, I've not really seen enough of Komander to be sure - obviously I've seen his AEW stuff, but I feel like his thing tends to be less pure 'rotation' and more just incredible balance and smoothness. I know PAC's gimmick was 'the man that gravity forgot', but man, you could make one hell of an argument for that applying to Komander as well.

Coming back 2 days later to say “welp, shows what I know!” 😅

Some Wrestling moves are difficult and technical that take years to master and longer to do safely consistently and then there's the black arrow thats in a completely different category.

Rip PAC

u/TheRocketeer0826 13d ago

when i would talk to non-wrestling fans about wrestling, PAC was one of the first things i’d show them.

specifically this move.

what a fucking legend.

u/burnerdadsrule Beast Mortos Is What's For Dinner 13d ago

What's surprised me in this last day is I can't think of a time he didn't hit it flush. The dude never missed. He also didn't hit it every match and come to think of it, the move may have been more protected than the 1 winged angel when Pac was doing it.

7

u/urbanknight4 13d ago

I think the only time I ever saw it fail was last week when it didn't land, but he still executed it perfectly and nobody ever kicked out of it

4

u/TheVitruvianBoy 13d ago

A ref botched it a while back too, right? Counted two when it should have been three.

31

u/Qliphoth_Bacikal 13d ago

Last week, PAC's last win was against Ace Austin while PAC's last loss was against Andrade.

Probably has to be surreal for them knowing they were his last opponents on TV and on PPV respectively.

I genuinely don’t think people realise how hard the black arrow is to pull off

Only a generational talent like PAC could do it

That’s just how good he was

22

u/witchgrove 13d ago

It's just crazy watching this. Phenomenal shape, phenomenal body control, and he's not here anymore? Its difficult to wrap the brain around. RIP Pac.

21

u/Matthiasad 13d ago

It's so wild and cruel that such an amazing athlete, and seemingly person, can just keel over in a parking lot 24hrs after such an amazing performance. There's still a part of my brain where it hasn't clicked yet that I'll never get to see this man wrestle again. It just feels impossible. Truly heartbreaking, my eyes are watering right now just thinking about it.

12

u/The_Flamin_Squirrel 13d ago

Not often you can say this and mean it, but that move was pure poetry in motion. I can watch it all day and not work out how he managed to do that. God, what a wrestler he was.

At 40 years old as well, no less.

RIP Bastard 🌹

10

u/PlagueVendor2020 13d ago

No matter how many times I have seen him do it I still can’t believe he can do it, just such a gorgeous jaw dropping move for anyone never mind someone built like him, solid! I am so thankful AEW got me back into wrestling after being out of it for almost 20 years, so thankful I got to witness him wrestle live. PAC vs OC at Revolution and Pac vs OC vs Kenny are two of my fav matches ever. RIP legend

7

u/outofmaxx 13d ago

Thing of beauty to the very end

7

u/ArchDukeNemesis 13d ago

The first and only time I saw PAC was also at the final live WWE show I went to. Witnessing the Black/Red arrow in person was the best part of that show.

4

u/Cetus808 13d ago

Same here. I'm incredibly grateful that I've gotten to see him wrestle a fantastic match with Sami Zayn and see him hit his finisher. An absolute thing of beauty. RIP

6

u/fultanic 13d ago

IMO the gold standard of high flying finishers. It never failed to impress me every single time.

7

u/Educational_Ad_8660 13d ago

I dont usually watch all the way until the end of 3 hour Dynamite/Collison show.. but for some reason, I did this past week & Im grateful I did. PAC stood out. He didn't have to do much this match but it was perfect and so was his Black Arrow. God Speed Benjamin.

6

u/0ruina Switchblade/Bastard/Hayter/Stat 🗡️🖤🧡💜 13d ago

One of the beautiful moves ever. Period. Executed with grace every single time he hit it as well

5

u/Hazel_RAAA 13d ago

This was a dream match of mine and I can't believe it happened within a week of his passing.

8

u/ZAPPHAUSEN 13d ago

THOSE THIGHS

6

u/kantpemabils 13d ago

Even in a victory he still put over Ace. RIP bastard

4

u/SerRemko 13d ago

Masterpiece. RIP

4

u/LivingMisery 13d ago

A thing of beauty.

5

u/Veggieleezy 13d ago

Even in slowmo, I still can’t understand how he could do it. A brilliant move from an incredible athlete, and now, tragically, a move that will never have been kicked out of.

3

u/creaturefeature85 13d ago

One of my favorite high flying moves.

3

u/PunksSmellyChuddies BALD 13d ago

For people in the UK, this bout is on next on ITV4

2

u/ExoZuggi 12d ago

I can't remember who it was, but I saw someone on YouTube the other day talking about it 'possibly' being the best high flying move of all time and compared to the Swanton Bomb and the Five Star Frog Splash.

Like, if they're the moves we're comparing it to, the Black Arrow is easily the best high flying move of all time. Very few wrestlers are ever going to consistently replicate it, but I can guarantee I'll see someone attempting the Fiver Star Frog Splash or a Swanton Bomb in the future.

I watch this clip on repeat and I have no idea how a human being is able to do that with their body
