Be well Eddie.
I hope he has the support he needs through all this.

I couldn’t finish it man. It was breaking me up too much. It just feels like Eddie keeps taking hit after hit and it’s so heartbreaking.

u/abitlazy 14d ago
It is hard to watch. I was crying while laughing when he shared the story about the 30 minute zooted promo with Pac. Bless you Eddie 🙏

u/SomeGuy_GRM 14d ago
It's in no way a replacement for his losses, but he really deserves a world title run in the next year.

u/Afropirg 13d ago
Eddie's post on men's mental health really hit home with me at a dark time.
Silly that a middle-aged, mid-card professional wrestler's social media post helped me in my time of need.
I hope Eddie has a great support group and wish the best for everyone who knew Pac. He was a great in-ring performer and, from what I can tell, loved by everyone he worked with.

Nyla said he was a hugger, too. Just… wow, hearing these stories about him. What kind of person he was, it just makes me feel so, so bad for the people close to him. We lost PAC and there’s no one like him.
But they lost the man behind the Bastard. I really hope Eddie and everyone else keeps in touch and really support one another through this.

u/Jaybb3rw0cky 14d ago
Bryce Remsburg saying his kids called PAC their uncle... it shows how amazing the man was, to be so largely considered the biggest, softest, loveliest guy when on TV he portrayed anything but. You've said it best, friend - we lost PAC the wrestler as fans, but those who worked with him lost that AND a friend as well.
20
u/TRiddle86 14d ago
Drilla Moloney said the same thing. “Always had the biggest hug and made sure to tell you he loved you.” Gabe said that he made him want to be a better person because of how he carried himself. It sounds like he was beyond amazing to have gotten to know. I hope they’re all doing okay. It’s absolutely breaking my heart to imagine what they’re going through between Andy, PAC, and Rebel.

u/propernounTHEheel 14d ago
I'm glad he corrected himself at the end, him saying "I'll see you soon" scared the shit out of me...though it honestly still does, even with the correction. I hope he has his support network near him.

We still need you Eddie.
I still need you.
I still need to meet you and shake your hand and tell you that you inspired me to keep reaching for my dreams and to seek therapy and get medicated.
Thank you Benjy for inspiring Eddie. We all miss you.

Eddie is a big reason why im still here. Ive never met him.
Life got super fucking low for me. Lost everything I ever loved in one fast swipe. AEW gave me wrestling again. Eddie gave me hope that life can and will be better. One small talk, promo, interview, etc from the Mad King fills me with enough strength to keep going. Kingston will always be my favorite wrestler.

u/YinTanTetraCrivvens No Kings (except Brody, the Mad, and Mick Foley) 14d ago
Same here man. Every time life stomps on me, I remember Eddie, look up one of his promos, read that Player’s Tribune article, and pick myself back up. Gotta keep going. Gotta keep doing what Eddie did.

u/Phog_of_War 14d ago
Real talk from a 50 year old man, I would have a real hard time not tearing up while meeting Eddie. Ever since he defended Homicide in a promo in NWA, when Eddie says 'This is real!', he is not kidding.
12
u/duk-er-us 14d ago
Fuck man I would LOVE to meet Eddie and shake his hand. I’d probably stammer and make an ass of myself but it’d be worth. There’s just something about how real he is. You wanna root for a guy like him
2
u/TheDriveln 13d ago
I was lucky enough to meet him and shake his hand at an event a few years ago. Eddie is exactly the person you think he is. Fantastic dude.

Hoping Eddie's taking care of himself. Can't imagine what it's like to lose not one, but two friends within a month

u/Some_Internet_Random Andy… Ben… 😢 14d ago
Not one month, but I have lost two in three months. Both in early 40s, both shocking, both completely preventable, and neither were self inflicted.
It’s awful. Just awful.
23
u/RazzDaNinja 14d ago
Coming from a rando internet stranger
I’m sorry dude 💛 I know it goes without saying, but remember to be kind not only to your loved ones, but also to yourself while you go through the grieving process 🙏
9
u/Some_Internet_Random Andy… Ben… 😢 14d ago
Thank you. It’s been 5 years now.
One friend was very close friend, the other was decent friend but more “old friends”. However both were in the same circle. And I assume most people run in a few different friend circles at a time or during times in our lives. In many ways, it brought some of us closer. But in other ways, we lost our glue. And our comic relief.
I think about them all the time. And I carry on some of our old traditions, or maybe tell silly stories about them. Just my way of keeping them alive.
But I am also quite fortunate being well into my 40s and not having lost many people in my life so far. Still have my parents, my siblings, most of my close extended family, etc.

u/blankwillow_ IamALS.org Rebel Heart 14d ago
I lost both of my grandmothers, my wife's grandmother, my wife's mom, and my best friend in a 7 month period in 1999, then my dad a couple of years later.
It's the hardest time I've ever had.
It gets better, but the storm can last a long time.
Eddie continues to be the realest motherfucker in the world. God bless that man.
RIP PAC

u/tardisandjam save me kenny omega save me 14d ago
I lost two just a week ago, back to back. It’s nauseating and crippling in a way I never expected at 30. Think it’s why PAC’s death rattled me even more than I thought it would, because all three of them should still be here with us and they aren’t.
3
u/Morbid187 14d ago
It wasn't a month but I lost two good homies within the span of like 3 years a while back. It was awful but also reinforced some bonds and gave us reasons to get together to reminisce. It just sucks how the people you lose are always the ones you really like or look up to. It's seemingly baked into life for some reason.
53
u/BubinatorX 14d ago
I’ll never stop believing in Eddie because he is the realest person in the game. He was one of the first people I thought of when I read the news of PAC.
37
u/Comrade-Conquistador 14d ago
Eddie is truly the heart of AEW. The man wears his pride and his heart on his sleeve. We love you, Mr. Kingston.
34
u/Qliphoth_Bacikal 14d ago
Ten minutes. Well, almost ten minutes. But yikes, I FIGURED Eddie had to be close with PAC especially but it still hurts to see him this emotional.
Just like with Brodie Lee's passing and of Butcher's.
I hope Eddie has all the support around him rn. Really, him and everyone else that have worked with and were close with PAC over the years. I hope they'll be alright.

u/bvanbove25 14d ago
Seeing Eddie cry again sucks. Really hope that (and I assume they do given other medical situations) AEW makes mental health professionals available.

Eddie, you will always be my champion.

The pain of loss will never diminish, but if you keep fighting through that pain your life will get bigger and bigger, and eventually this pain will be a smaller part of a much larger journey.

As a wrestling fan of over 30 years, I've gotten all too familiar with the feeling but it still sucks every time. I think Eddie was the first one to pass that I had watched and talked about for years and that was still on top when we lost him. This reminds me a lot of November 2005.
3
u/AnfowleaAnima 14d ago
It hurts specially because how underrated PAC was but I accepted that because he had VISA issues and lived outside the US, but this repressed feelings of loving watching him and wanting so much more for him are coming out. His matches always being must watch, full of personality and never the same, PAC may have been the best in the world in some way.

Ngl. I watched this and it makes me worried about dude. It’s a lot to deal with for anyone so I just hope he’s got people keeping up with him.

u/incide666 TWO!!!! 14d ago
I'm not the biggest fan of Eddie's character but he seems like a genuinely good dude it's obvious this isn't a work. He's hurting.
Beyond the matches and silliness and pyro and spots and everything these people do to keep us entertained, they're people.
The AEW and broader wrestling families have had a rough few weeks.
Marina Shafir's message about PAC damn near killed me.
The Rebel Heart and Andy Williams episodes had me in tears more than once.
As a fan, this fucking sucks.
As a human, this fucking sucks.
I hope they all get through this ok.

I’m really worried about Eddie. We’ve had very similar mental health struggles, which is why I’ve connected with him as a performer so deeply. I’ve been lucky enough to have a support system around me to lift me out of some dark times. I hope Eddie has the same right now. “I’ll see you soon” scared the shit out of me for half a second before he corrected himself.

u/irish0451 14d ago
I'm waffling on buying a ticket to Dynamite to be there for the tribute show, but man if it's anything like Brodie's I'm gonna be a fucking mess when they all start talking about how much they love and will miss their friend.
He wasn't MY friend, I didn't know him...but seeing so many people you admire mourn someone that they admired...Im too much of a baby to get through it.

I hope Mox and the others close to him are keeping an eye on Eddie right now.

u/holyembalmer 14d ago
On each other. I'm sure Mox and Yuta and Claudio (and others) are just as ripped up as Marina and Eddie (though they both made my eyes water). God bless them all. I hope Eddie knows how much he inspires in people. I hope they all know how truly appreciated they really are. We all theoretically know how much they all give to the industry- to us- but I truly hope they know how much we appreciate them.

Honestly, this is exactly why I have such positive feelings about Eddie and Ortiz opening their own wrestling school. Eddie is such a real one, and truly cares. It really seems like Ortiz is cut from the exact same cloth. Their potential contributions to wrestling are like the Olive Garden breadsticks.

This is what masculinity is supposed to look like. Publicly pouring out ones soul while grieving a loved one is a feat of courage. We Celebrate PAC and should focus our collective healing energy on Eddie and all of the friends that are grieving.
8
u/Jaybb3rw0cky 14d ago
Knew when our Mad King spoke it would break me... not that I haven't felt sad or choked up reading the love and memories that have just poured out of people. Eddie has always been able to cut down to the root of everything. When he speaks it's like a sermon from the best priest - and I'm not religious but I can see why people become enamoured with God and what not when they attend services because of the priests that talk.
My point is - Eddie conveys the exact emotions, touches on the important things, and knows what matters most. He's losing his friends and it's heart breaking to witness. He says he's not a good person and granted I don't know him personally, but when he speaks good of those around him like he has done for PAC, for Andy and for everyone else he has lost... it's clear that Eddie is a good person. The world could use more of the love that Eddie has for the people around him.

Every time, man. Every time Eddie's had to do one of these it hurts. Too many times in too short of a period. It completely breaks me every time. All these guys have lost great people in their lives and it shows with just how passionate and emotional they get when talking about 'em. I hope Eddie continues to take good care of himself. I can't imagine the pain he's had to feel with all these losses, but at least him sharing his words helps us all.

I love that Eddie Kingston is one of the souls among us. I still can't believe we lost PAC of all people. My friend texted me at like 10:00 AM just after my shift started this morning and my immediate thought was "why is he randomly bringing up Pac? Is it some thing from the 2pac murder trial? Or shit, is he talking about X-Pac? Oh my god no he doesn't really mean PAC does he?" This sucks so much.

It's so sad that you had a incredible celebration of life that was Rebel Heart Dynamite, to then go for a beautifully sad episode celebrating the life of the butcher, to then have an incredible slam dunk like All out was, and not even 48h later you receive this news....
Everyone has given the best wishes to Ben's family and friends but i would also like to give my wishes to the AEW locker room and staff.
2
u/Melodic-North6349 14d ago
Losing Butcher was bad enough for Eddie but losing another one after your still trying to navigate the first loss hits even worse. I feel awful for Eddie and I pray he has enough people to tell him they love him, him and the AEW crew can't seem to catch a break this year with the recent deaths.

u/el_toro_grand 14d ago
I genuinely fucking love Eddie, he is Eddie no matter the fuck what, whether you like him or not, I worry about his mental health, and yeah shit like this IS parasocial, so what? These are all breathing, living human beings, with real feelings and real emotions, I don't need validation,I don't need to be in their bubble and they don't need to be in mine, they matter, I care.

u/metallipunk 14d ago
Goddamn man. I really hope he's getting help. He's been through it and he needs people around him to help him navigate this.

*Edit: Because between him having to come to grasps with the Butcher's passing, but the passing of PAC only like two weeks afterwards is heartbreaking.

I rwally hope eddie has someone calling him everyday checking on him. Seeing how he is now he needs all the people by his side. Hell id call him to see if he's okay if I could. So heartbreaking man this year has taken so many good people and the evil sick fucks get to live on 💔

This was so fucking sad.
I’m a frequently suicidal mentally unwell person, so I get it. I know exactly what he means by people trying to understand rather than judge. Really seems like PAC was a great guy.
2
u/TheJasonaut 13d ago
I wonder what he was he talking about at the end there. Clearly he didn’t want to say some negative stuff about people, but seemed related and bothered him.
2
u/LaramieWall 13d ago
I'm not a hardcore sicko. I'm probably considered a casual fan. I just watch the weeklys. I haven't watched a PPV since a local private theater "didn't show Wrestlemania, but some friends were watching it there"
Eddie. My man. Thank you for talking. Let that shit out my brother. I feel ya. I'm 45, and I've seen so much death. A buddy that swallowed a bullet. My dad and cancer when I was 22. Car wrecks. A high school buddy and leukemia.
Then I got into nursing. Suffice it to say, I've seen a lot. And new people think it's tough to keep it in. Fuck no. Eddie, you're tough cause you let that shit out. You OWNED it.
I don't know. I'll never know you. You'll never see this. But if you did, you can call me. When you're hurting, when you need a friend, you can call me. Cause death is hard. Death is heavy. Death fucking hurts. And I carry so many too.
Be loved. Share the burden. <3

I don't cry very much but this finally got me. I feel awful for Eddie. Sounds like he and Pac were really close.
Since Pac never broke kayfabe, I always got the impression that the "real him" was quiet and introverted but it sounds like he was a phenomenal human being. An angel, like Eddie said. I always used to think "I hope Pac makes friends in all these different companies", like he was a kid at a new school. Going by all the tributes, it seems like everyone in wrestling was his friend. I've never seen tributes like this.
