An in-game reset mod has been added to the project.

Quality and frame rate of gameplay is pretty bad, layout is okay, but the soundtrack is just peak. which i guess would make it up even when idle -- 6/10 🤷‍♂️

I have a 3DO-FZ1 that has been playing games from disc fine as of today. I bought a clone ODE from Aliexpress in May 2024 for $44 and finally got around to installing it. The listing is gone now (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806081624431.html), but I've attached screenshots of the listing snapshot.

I put the files and a couple games onto my exFAT-formatted USB drive. I started up the console and the Fixel ODE menu loaded. I ran 2 games and it worked fine.

Next I researched how to manage saves. I saw someone's advice on saving and loading NVRAM save files to manage multiple saves. I tried to do so, but accidentally chose the option to save the system memory (I forgot the name of it).

There was no option to interrupt this, and I didn't want to turn the console off while it was writing to my USB drive, so I let it run. I stepped away for a few minutes, and there was a black screen. I pressed buttons and nothing happened. I then restarted the console, and the menu looked glitchy but still legible. I tried loading one game, got a glitchy screen, and then all black. Then tried another game, same thing.

I tried these steps and still got a black screen after each:

* Re-formatted my USB drive and put the boot.iso file back onto it with 1 game.

* Disconnected the ODE

* Connected the ribbon cables back to the original disc drive

When I turn the console on, I see the screen flash for a short amount of time (as if a video signal is initializing), but still a black screen. The disc tray will open if you press the eject button, and you can even insert a CD and it will spin. However, there is no audio or video.

Is there any hope to recover this? I have a second working FZ-1, maybe there's some way I can use my working console to help recover the system memory I'm guessing I corrupted?

Update - I've waited an hour and tried turning the 3DO back on. Instead of an immediate black screen, I got the glitchiness again until it eventually went black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THAPdC1Dn6Y I tried turning it on a couple more times and I usually only get an immediate black screen.

Hi everyone! I've been working on a new firmware and menu for the **SataTo3DO** ODE (the RP2040 board) and just released v1.1. Everything was tested on a **Panasonic FZ-10**.

**What's different from the original menu:**

- **Box art** next to the game list, with genre, studio and year.

- **New menu** in English or Portuguese, with a video intro and every game on the USB drive in a single alphabetical list (no folder browsing). Multi-disc games are labeled.

- **Save manager**, which didn't exist before: copy, restore and delete saves between the console NVRAM, the Memory Unit and a folder on the USB drive, including "copy all" for backups.

- **Working FZ-EM256 Memory Unit:** with the unit plugged in, the console wouldn't get to the ODE menu. We fixed how the firmware and the menu talk on the bus, and now the console boots, the menu opens and games run normally with it plugged in.

- **Firmware updates from the USB drive:** after the first flash (BOOTSEL), just copy `SataTo3DO.uf2` to the USB drive and use Options → Update firmware. There's also a rescue file that is flashed at power-on in case the menu doesn't start.

- **Screen size** from 80% to 100%, for CRTs that crop the edges.

- **Windows program** that prepares the USB drive: installs the menu and firmware, organizes the games with the same rules the firmware uses, fixes broken `.cue` files and makes the box art, with a preview of how it looks on the TV.

I'm noticing more and more that conversations and youtube videos etc are focusing on the 3DO. Having owned one, I'm delighted, I know what games I really liked on it that I haven't matched on any other system (Twisted, Road Rash, Need for Speed, SSF2T, WC3 etc) but what are the big games people are collecting now, especially first timers?

So ive been at this for months and im at my whits end doing it through research now im at the point of asking for advice. First no im not interested in replacing the disc drive with an ode, I want it as original as possible desipte the pain its causing.

As for the exact issue and solutions tried, with adjustment I can get it to show the title card for wing commander 3 (official disc) but it wont get past that no matter what ive tried including 3 different lasers, a full recap, replacement of the laser guide motor and the shaft it drives, even trying different discs. Im at a loss so if anyone has ideas please let me know

Laser no longer works in the pal 3do I have, I know the part number sf-c93aq and theres loads of them on places like AliExpress etc but none of them have the ribbon cables attached, I was just wondering if anyone knew anywhere that has this part with the cables already attached.

I purchased a 3do with the Fixel ode installed a while back and I am having issues getting my new jump drive to work.

To sum it up, the unit came with a 64gb USB jump drive that had a couple dozen roms on it. It worked fine, but there were some titles I wanted tgat were not on the drive. I found a nearly complete rom set, purchased a 256gb jumpdrive, transferred the roms and bios, and now, when powered on, the 3do just "blinks" the load up screen.

I formatted the new jump drive as exFat....does that matter? According to Google it should not. The old jump drive was Fat32, but my pc did not give me that option. Could this be the issue?

Any advice appreciated.

I actually wasnt expecting to buy it, but saw it really cheap, and i was like... why not? Because i wasnt expecting it, i have a few questions:

-Power supply. Does this console have a internal power supply and needs a power supply conversion for 220 pal, or is ok with a cable? In both cases, what should i get? I just got problems a few days ago with the power supply of a twin famicom, so i want to confirm everything haha.

-Video cable. Going to play on a crt, so a normal cable is ok (RGB if the 3DO is able). Whitch one should i pick?

-Controller. I got it cheap because the controller wasnt working properly. I guess somethings wrong inside or some broken cables on the controller. Dunno whats the most common failure i should check first.

-Gun. The console has a lot of games i want to play that are played with a gun, but seems like the Gamegun is rare (that is even worse, because even with money, is not easy to find one haha). Is there any 3rd party option to play this gun games, or i should wait for 1 to appearce on a reasonable price?

-ODE. Saw the ODE option, and a few games mods i would want to play. The official one seems to not being sold right now outside of ebay, and i saw one with a PICO on aliexpress, that seems like the best option for me to buy to Spain. How good are these ones? Do they have option for cheats?

I got this controller cheap from a local game store. It has six buttons, so it plays fighting games really well. I can't find ANY information on it. Anyone know what this thing is?

I’m new to the 3DO and a bit lost when it comes to burning discs. I’m looking to make « backups » of games I own and try some « homebrew ».

What do I need, and is there a beginner-friendly guide? I’m especially unsure about the disc format, image files, and burn settings.

Hi All, just purchased my first 3do (FZ-10 from Japan via eBay). So far I've been able to play games without issues, but occasionally will get issues with video during FMV (the video will cycles too to bottom really fast, almost like I'm using a pal game on an ntsc tv or something). And 100% of the time I get an issue during the game Twisted during "trivia" questions (pictures attached)-but so far only during the trivia questions.

I thought it might be the step down transformer I used from 120V to 100V, but when I plug directly into my power strip (120V AC) the same issue happens. Looking for some thoughts/suggestions.

I finally picked up a Panasonic FZ-10! I used to dismiss the 3DO without knowing much about it, but games like Wolfenstein 3D and Road Rash got me curious.

The console itself is honestly beautiful, and now I’m looking forward to collecting for it. Here’s my little setup so far! :)

Its been a few years since Fixel unleashed this on the masses. Im curious if anyone has taken up the mantle of making a better menu for it? I know other projects like the Saturn Satiator have had alternative menus created by others.

Can I use this step down converter for my jp 3do in Europe (230v) without breaking anything.

Just snagged a functional 3d0 for a steal. It is lacking a controller. What is my best option? I see the Panasonic variants and the Logitech one get some recommendations. What is my best bet?

My spouse grabbed this at a garage sale thinking it was a classical music album. I have the disc running on an emulator right now but there was only the game in a jewel case. Anybody have a manual for this 'game'? I've been using the game as a music stream while I work but would like to figure out how to fine tune it.

some of the minigames (Mostly Zapped!) are bs hard and aren't worth playing

As much as I love the funny bomb reactions its basically useless because if you roll a 0 or lose the minigame its the next players turn anyways so what point is the bomb existing?

I just bought this from Japan, and it has this sound issue. From a quick YouTube search, it seems like it might be caused by a bad capacitor near the power supply.

Has anyone here dealt with the same issue? If so, which capacitor do I need to replace, and what should I buy?

I’m not very experienced with soldering, but I’ve done a few simple jobs before. Would you say this repair is manageable for someone with limited experience?

I’d rather not return it if I can avoid it, as it’s otherwise in really nice condition and has the original box.(which I really wanted to have).
