“Spirit Jumper” started as a track I wrote and produced for my album Tactile.
I ended up spending about five years turning it into an animated film with a small team of animators and artists. I directed and storyboarded it, colored the cels, and did the editing and compositing.
The entire thing was made digitally, but we were trying to recreate the feeling of traditional cel animation rather than just imitate the look. That led to a lot of research into old animation lighting, photography and compositing techniques, which I wrote a little about here:
Dangerous Light: https://animationobsessive.substack.com/p/dangerous-light
It’s airing at 11:56 PM ET/10:56 CT, right before Toonami.

Tactile is out now:

Happy to answer any questions about the production of it too

Made this fun little thing with procreate and after effects

I made the animation on Callipeg, and composited with Harmony.
I also made a detailled making-of here :https://youtu.be/rVDZenzoZ2o

Learning a lot as I work through this project. I'm experienced with After Effects and corporate style animation but hand drawn animation has always been something I've been interested in trying. I've been using ProCreate for all my drawing and then After Effects for compositing the layers and animations together.

I animated this in krita. I used images I found on Pinterest as reference and added my own flair to it. I really enjoyed the process, am hoping keep learning and hopefully produce fully polished animations that are appealing to look at.

In the last few weeks, we worked on this silly short for the crowdfunding of "The Little Trashmaid" (Live now on Backerkit).
We intend to do a silly animated series with "Gravity Falls" and "Star vs. The Forces of Evil", and we reached the minimum goal to produce the first animated episode!
I hope you love our silly irony.
We hope to get even more help in the final 24 hours of the campaign, as the extra budget could cover amateur mistakes or unexpected issues.
We hope you can trust us! ❤️

Hey, first time posting here! I wanted to share a little rough animation with a character I've been using named Bok Choy. These were done this year - about a week apart actually! Enjoy!

We made this for caregivers. It was produced almost entirely in Pittsburgh! Check out Now What Animation for more shorts!

Hi everyone! We wanted to share Gorrionetas, the new project by Gastón Pacheco and Eze Torres, produced by the Argentine animation studio RUDO Company. We’ve just released the teaser and launched our Kickstarter campaign!
Chiri, a curious and instinctive fledgling, grows up under the care of two rescuers with very different views on how to guide him. Amidst these conflicting expectations, Chiri’s development becomes a journey of self-exploration where, led by his own instincts, he begins to discover his unique way of inhabiting the world.
If you like the project, you can support us by joining our Kickstarter campaign or by sharing the teaser and campaign on social media.
Thank you so much for the support!

One day I just started animating, no storyboard, no styleframe, no nothing, just some loose sketches. I really liked this loose flow, it was like animation therapy basically :) Also, i only worked on it when i truly felt like it, zero pressure at all. Thats probably also why it took me almost a year to finish these 11 seconds haha. I still haven't come up with a title tho 🙃
As a kid I used to imagine what would happen if everyone always left a trail of their head behind, that's where the idea initially started :)

I went to the library to work on my thesis, but I couldn't focus AT ALL, just scrolled on my phone. At some point tho, I thought: If I procrastinate, then at least in a way that doesn't make me feel foggy and washed. So for the first time in roughly seven years, I animated again. For 3 hours I was focused for the first time all day, and this little one came to life. And enjoyed myself a lot during the whole process, felt nice idk.
I just wanted to share, but also ask if y'all have feedback and can point to specific things that I should pay attention to? Obviously, this is just the doodle version of an animation but I meant to pick up animating again for a while now. It is not like I ever spent a loooot of time animating in the past, just toyed with it every once in a while. So yeah, anything is welcome :) Thaankss

Sharing here the process of the intro shot of Ash Raider World, an indie 2D animation project by our dear friend Luis de la Rosa (Lemuras), who lost his life on a tragic accident while attending the latest Annecy animation festival. 😔
You are highly missed buddy. 🤍

I perform in front of my own animations at shows and it's my favorite thing to do. This is from a recent show in Brooklyn and the song is called "Time For Crime".
I animated these using Toon Boom Harmony.

Hello to everyone!
Here's a quick teaser for a project we're working on.
We did this animation teaser for The Little Trashmaid webcomic and now we're "recycling" it to let people know about the crowdfunding campaign for the animation pilot of the project on Backerkit.
I hope it's not against the rules to share the video here, or that it won't be considered spam.
It's not my intention and I just want to share the project with everyone because we want to make this dream come true.
Thanks! ❤️

I am hand animating an entire game in Photoshop. It probably isn't the best idea but I really like the results so far!
I'd love to know what you guys think!!

This is the first part of a small sequence I created. Initially, it was supposed to be a storyboard, but I got carried away and ended up cleaning it up and coloring the characters to make it more appealing for social media. If you’re curious, you can check out more of my work on my website, giulianodecaprio.com, or on Instagram, where I’m more active: giu.deka

I drew this on the cover of my high school notebook, and then tried to animate it in college.
