this is my second overshot piece. I know I did the tie up backwards but I am still so thrilled with how it’s coming out! the pattern yarn is my handspun, which I processed from raw fleece and naturally dyed. it is such a joy to weave. thanks for looking <3

I have started turning my handwoven fabric into a dress. The fabric was 25epi/ppi cotton I indigo dyed myself. I drafted the dress pattern as well. I am so proud of how neat the edges are

Started this project last Thursday and have been loving every minute of it. This pattern is based on Turned Krokbragd translated into weaving with 3-hole tablets. These adorable rainbow sheepies are destined to become shoelaces for a friend of mine who needs something extra fancy for some rainbow shoes.

Warp and Weft: Size 40 Lisbeth Threads
Pattern: Turned Krokbragd Sheep converted to 3 Hole Tablets
Loom: Penelope Band Loom
Shuttle: Hand carved by Fossil Fibers

Currently working on this wall hanging with dried flowers woven into it. I'm using leftover warp thread and it's taking forever lol. I'm really enjoying how it's coming along though!

Work in Progress Pick up inkle band!

This is a gift for a friend, going to make it into a decorative belt. Getting close to finishing it and boy it has taken forever lol I made the pattern myself and I did not take difficulty into consideration when I did that.

Edges are plain weave, center is pickup weaving. Using an ashford inkle loom and cotton yarns in a marigold yellow, red, and dark red brown. Not sure the size of the yarns, maybe lace weight? Added the pattern in case anyone wants it but good luck reading it

Work in Progress Has anyone here heard of Liezhi weave? A regional Chinese textile made from reused fabric strips

Sharing a process video of Liezhi weave

It’s a regional handmade textile technique where leftover fabric strips are woven into a new surface. The texture is usually uneven, layered, and a bit raw, which is part of the charm.

I’m trying to figure out the best English wording for it. Would this be closest to rag weaving, fabric-strip weaving, upcycled weaving, or would you keep the original name Liezhi weave?

Curious how other weavers would describe it.

This is my fifth(?) scarf that I’m weaving but my first project that has two weft colors. I still need to figure out my floats on the right side lol. I know you need to wrap the threads when they pass each other but this is v messy. Otherwise I like how this is coming out so far 😊

Work in Progress Cat Supervisor assessing the new cards

A little while ago I had some folks ask me to report back on how I liked the 3D printed cards. The first couple we printed were a bit thick and the second batch (these) were a bit too thin. The current ones are a bit hard to separate and sometimes get caught during the turns. I think if we split the difference they’ll be perfect.

I want to do some more experiments, maybe with colored edges by switching filament or maybe nail polish?

Otherwise I’m pretty proud of how this fifth and largest ever band of mine is turning out. I still am getting some uneven edging (but weirdly only on the left side?) so if anyone has any tips on that I’m all ears.

Edit to add project info- working in 8/2 cotton on my homemade inkle Loom and 3D printed cards. Pattern is a slightly modified version of the 4 Dragons Mahdi Mod on twisted threads. 34 cards total.

Work in Progress Weaving my handspun

Hi everyone,

I'm weaving my first two decent handspun yarns.

Normally I weave large shawls with intricate patterns using fine handdyed industrial yarn.

So I never would have imagined I would LOVE weaving thicker yarn on a rigid heddle this much.

I was freaked out at first, worried I would mess up my first handspuns that turned out good. But the yarn held nicely. No breakage!

And I thoroughly enjoyed every step of this process.

It's being washed and dryed now. Can't wait to see how it turned out!

Warp: merino Weft: merino/bamboo Both rovings were from a Dutch webshop for fibers

Work in Progress Almost there!

I'm trying to get more comfortable with landscapes, but yeah...there's still a lot of room for improvement! 😅

When finished, the piece will measure 40cm x 90cm (not including the fringes). I used different types of acrylic fibers.

Am I on the right track yet?😉

Work in Progress Doubleweave sampler

I got a copy of Jennifer Moore's "Doubleweave: Revised and Expanded", and I'm working my way through the 4-shaft sampler on my jack loom. What a ride! I thought I would like doubleweave (double-knit was always my favorite on the needles), and this is fantastic. It takes a different way of thinking, but it's starting to make sense. I can't wait to make double-wide blankets, and interwoven patterns.

I figure it's also a good stepping stone... The other book I just got is "The Technique of Split-Shed Weaving" by Deborah Silver. I'm planning a warp on my countermarch loom, and some of the upper/lower shed thinking I'm getting now will really come in handy.

Work in Progress Leather weaving

I’ve done lots of sewing but never tried weaving something together. Recently I saw a picture of a leather bag and decided to give it a go. It’s SOOOO slow but it’s fun watching a thing materialize in front of you. Im doing it all by hand with a frame I made and am using a ruler with a hole in it as a shuttle (I think thats what it’s called). Any suggestions for a machine that would do the same thing?
