Subnautica and Ocarina of Time. Makes me wonder how a Zelda style game set almost exclusively underwater as a Zora would be? Cool romhacking idea?

That combo scares me, it could be an endless cycle of the OOT water temple

Majora's Mask style where you can swim like a Zora. I'd spend hours just swimming

Or we could get the fun ending where it’s more like Majora’s mask.

Wind Waker Subnautica would be GOATed...

Does Link HAVE to be human/hyrulian? Could a Zora be born with the spirit of the hero? Sounds like a fun twist to the other games to play exclusively underwater.

Link has been other than Hylian before in canon, but always human. I've been wanting a twist on the racial canon for decades where the 1 male Gerudo born every 100 years is Link, and we get a different race for Ganon. Gerudo's been getting a bad rep forever, even though in some games they directly help you or Zelda.

Could be interesting if you are a Gerudo who is falsely presumed to be Gannon since childhood resulting in you being locked up and later in life you escape and go on a quest to prove you have the spirit of the hero. Similar to how you had to earn the title of the hero in Wind Waker.

I think another crazy twist is having the spirit of the hero be born as a male heir of the Zelda bloodline and having Link and Zelda be twins. I know they are obviously shipped together all the time but it would be interesting to see a sibling dynamic play out. (Or have him adopted and only find out later on but then that gets into weird territory)

One water temple was bad enough.
