I just started Metro 2033 redux (i got the metro game bundle from the ps store). How much better are the sequels because I'm not really getting into it yet. I get it that it feels a bit dated because it's older but I'm just not feeling it yet.

Update: I'm about past the mid point (Front line level) and it's growing on me a lot. Exploring the levels is actually nice there's a lot of hidden stuff.

Is there anything in particular that you feel isnt drawing you in?

The combat especially and monsters feel bland and repetitive.

I'm just gonna be honest, that doesn't change.

Even Exodus, the newest, the monsters behave the same and generally you fight the same things.

I will say, Last Light is amazing. I don't think Exodus is worth playing through but that could partially be me losing my save 4 times because it saves in a weird folder spot instead of cloud.

Exodus is 100% worth playing through

if you like cleaning your gun every 4 seconds and a very boring Anna.

just dont drown every 5 seconds and you`ll be fine.

You're saying nonsense

The gun maintenance mechanic in exodus was entirely unnecessary and it made the game a slog. They took an interesting character in Anna and sanded off all of the cool parts of her persona just to make her a one dimensional wife character for artyom. total flop for those two reasons alone.

The gun maintenance was not a bad mechanic. You didn't even need to do it that much.

I don't think Exodus is worth playing through

meanwhile the exodus is obviously the best part of the series (over 10M sales)

True way to play should be more stealth overall, less run and gun besides when having to deal with the monsters

This is one of those games where I would recommend the hardest difficulty to fix this feeling. Makes combat very tense and fun (and removes being a bullet sponge from both you and the enemies)

I think I'm playing on the 2nd hardest difficulty and it doesn't feel too much. Gotten the hang of the stealth levels.

Going through them myself and just started exodus, each game is like an entire generation of tech worth of an improvement, worth sticking with 100%

2033 is already fine

I tried it last year. Could not get into it.

They improve each game and exodus is a good game to cap off a trilogy

Now that I think about it Metro and Stalker are both still as awesome as on release of the OGs - good call

Finaly another metro fan. Metro last light is a masterpiece

1

u/Bread_Offender Aug 31 '26

Damn is that when the next one is coming out or like

1

u/Fritzypooo Aug 31 '26

exodus was an interesting idea but felt like a massive downgrade from last light. full of a bunch of mechanics that made everything other than stealth feel like a slog.

I just replayed Exodus bc I never finished the DLC. I am also hyped for 2039.
