Any supplements or vitamins that help with inflammation? I am active, go on daily walks, but still some days feel like I’m fighting inflammation in my body due to blood sugars

On the phone with my new insurance company, United Medical Health, and they denied the prior authorization to my Tresiba. Mind you, I pay the highest tier plan (and I am new to having insurance through work legit got it activated less then a month ago) and have been on Tresiba for NINE years.
Now I am using AI, which I hate using but I got a year free with my phone, to tell me the correct things to say because I am about to hold them hostage on this phone line until someone can give me some answers and get me my Tresiba.
The doctor is legit confused too he doesn't see why I was denied under this coverage plan.
I am so. Damn. Frustrated.

(Sorry there was way to much info on my chart in the last upload)
After ten years I’m back. Back in a hospital with dka. And it’s not even my fault dude. For 3 days I thought it was just stress and anxiety
The stress and anxiety of after only two weeks my ex fiancé brings over another dude and fucks him. And it was too much. Too much stress, too much anxiety and anger, and now. I lay here with no fiancé, my family’s 9 hours away, and car that she ragged out.
They called it stressed induced dka. Over the last 3 days I’ve eaten 9 pieces of bread, and a single green bean. And kept eating it even while trying to vomit it back up. I told her bringing this guy over was going to be too much. And she wasn’t even sorry about it…
I hope I did good for a T1D, I think 10 years without any hospitalizations is pretty good.

I(f18) have been a diagnosis T1D since 14 ever since then it was “don’t eat this; don’t eat that; if you don’t do this you’ll DIE or go blind” and a bunch more I know they care but it gets tiring and then I look at my siblings who can eat whatever and be fine and feel disgusted or sick. I feel bad for feeling like this but I can’t help but feel it especially after all the hard talks from family and now a upcoming one from a new primary care doctor who also does diabetes and being told I couldn’t have certain foods like bread or pasta(especially things like potatoes and ham which really hurt bc I loved potatoes and ham) by my aunt and grandma (she has type 2 and my aunt apparently knows a lot from her mother in law and grandma plus she was a cna person from what I remember) especially recently bc my sugar stay high even if I take insulin yet here are my siblings not doing anything and getting to eat whatever without warning about a thing. Or when something is wrong it feels like they get an actual diagnosis meanwhile I get “it’s because of your diabetes; it’s cuz of ur sugar; have you REALLY been taking ur insulin?” Etc meanwhile they are either in the same room or making sure they watch when I do it
Am I a bad person for feeling like this? Or is this normal? And apologies if I’m rambling too much

Hey folks! Recently feeling frustrated about two things in particular! I accidentally gave myself Lantus twice today. It sucked. So I’m wondering how do yall keep track of when you give it? I’d prefer a solution that doesn’t involve much time— not excited to mark it in my phone or write it on a calendar (I dose Lantus twice a day and doing that feels like one more thing to overthink if I remembered.) Any ideas?
Also, feeling frustrated with how I store my insulin in the fridge. I’ve built up what I call my apocalypse stash over the years and it sucks that everytime I get new pens, I have to empty the box and resort them all by expiration date and even then they still get unsorted so quickly. I’ve researched pen storage containers, but they’re all for a max of maybe 10 pens? I have more! And it’s excessive but my country doesn’t have universal healthcare and my employment isn’t always steady and providing insurance. So I have backup! If I could design it and have access to a 3D printer, it would load from the bottom so the pens on top would have the earliest expiration date. It would also have split compartments for long and short acting. Any ideas or solutions? It’s very frustrating to me that the best solution is an old cardboard box.
Any other tech or equipment that might help a MDI diabetic? I also use the libre 3+ and have qualms with that (so loud, no customizable alert sounds!) but I have an iPhone and not android. I also hate that my long and short acting insulin are now practically indistinguishable in their pens. I have tape over the cap of my long acting that I switch to the new pen, but WTF? Who designs these things? Do they have no basic understanding of the illness?
TIA for reading and hopefully offering a few solutions!

Over the weekend, I attended BreakthroughT1Ds inaugural Clinical Research Congress (CRC). It’s the first T1D-centric conference of its kind, and was really an amazing experience.
A few key takeaways:
- islet cell therapies are seeing continued progress, working toward no longer needing immunosuppressants
- a lot of work is being done on c-peptide preservation in early stages of the disease
- there is a dire need of earlier screening for T1D to prevent DKA in newly diagnosed children. If you are T1 and have children, consider joining TrialNet to help catch the disease early.
- The US is running out of pediatric endocrinologists. It is one of the lowest-paying medical professions and more endocrinologists are leaving the workforce than are joining it.
- A lot of conversation around GLP-1s and SGLT inhibitors to reduce heart and kidney complications, but there is still a need for more trials
- a LOT more research is going into diabetes distress than ever before: the mental burden of diabetes, supply disruptions and stigma. Over 98% of teens with T1D experience some form of stigma.
These were just my takeaways from a few of the sessions I attended, but I wanted to share — It was really inspiring being at a conference solely focused on T1D, and I left really energized to continue building within the community.

Hi everyone. I (35F) just started dating a wonderful man (43M) who has had t1d since he was 12. He’s an incredible human, however he’s not the best at managing it sometimes.
He has the CGM but programs it to not give as much insulin as he should because he had extreme paranoia of low blood sugar for decades. He says he’s DKA’d (or almost???) once as well. This, in turn, is now affecting his eyes and he’s going in for another eye surgery soon, and he’s on biweekly injections. Eye doc says he’s doing good though and it isn’t getting worse, and surgery will correct it fully.
He’s worked through the low blood sugar anxiety the last few years and has definitely gotten better with it, I think it improved once the other health problems started happening as a result of the highs.
Anyways, he has a son from a previous relationship who is 7. He wanted a second child but the ex wife didn’t. They had an unplanned pregnancy about 3 years ago and she didn’t go through with it, as the relationship was rocky.
As we get more serious, the talk about kids has come up. He says he’s set on not having any more and doesn’t want them, but sometimes I feel as though he’s on the fence about having more and there is a slight desire that slips out from time to time in convos.
I don’t have any kids and honestly didn’t want any prior to this, but seeing him as a dad and how incredible he is with his son has put the idea in my head now. I see how we both are with his son on our weekends with him, and we parent really well together as a team. This is the first time in my life I’ve had a thought of… “hmm.. maybe I could see myself having one” but I’m still heavily on the fence. My age has put pressure on me as well, which I hate to admit.
Now, the reason for this post. He seems to think he doesn’t have much life left in him because of his diabetes. He fears having another child because, in his words, “I’m not gonna be around much longer” and “go read the life expectancy stats of men with t1d” and “I wanted it 3 years ago but I’m too old now”… but I do think deep down he wishes he had another, especially a little girl. He says all the time he thinks I’d be a great mom and makes little comments like “imagine if you had a little girl” with a sparkle in his eye. Lol. The comments upset me because he seems SO against having kids but then makes comments like that, and it gets to me and makes me sad, knowing it’s off the table.
I think he believes he’s a horrible dad because of the diabetes and restrictions he has (can’t do too many physical adventures like hikes or strenuous stuff, less energy to play with kids than when he was younger, ex always put pressure on him to go out and do more and be more active etc) but from what I see, he does a great job, and his son adores him. He’s just very hard on himself.
I’m still learning about diabetes and it’s new to me as I’ve never experienced or dated anyone with it, so I’d love to hear your stories or opinions on this…
Are there any men in here with t1d that had kids after 40, and didn’t regret it?! Or maybe you did? What advice would you give him, or us? Are the stats really that bad for life expectancy, and if he’s been abusing high blood sugars for years out of fear - is he actually in a bad place health wise? Or is it just his health anxiety?
He’s such a wonderful partner and if he decided he didn’t want any more, I wouldn’t leave him over that. I might go through a grieving period about not having one of our own, sure. But I’m still on the fence about kids myself… it’s only because I can see it happening with him. If it’s not with him, I don’t think I’d care to have any, the desire isn’t strong enough to go have a kid for the sake of having one, and leave an incredible man who’s perfect for me in every other way would be stupid. Partnership is my main priority, and plus, i have a bonus son now who I adore, and he loves me too. If that’s all that’s meant for me in this lifetime, I’m okay with it.
I don’t really have anyone else to talk to about this, so would just love to hear some thoughts of anyone in a similar spot.
Thank you💖

hey y'all. i have been a diabetic for 7 years now. i got diagnosed when i was around 6 or 7.
at the end of 5th grade i got a t:slim pump and it was the best thing that ever happened to me! i have so much more freedom now!
however, around that time i started to notice that i was hungry less and less often. i dropped about 25 pounds. went from 118-121 to 94, my lowest ever 93.
slowly, i started to gain it all back even though i was eating the same amount. it appears my metabolism slowed down with my eating habits.
now i am in 8th grade and am back to my starting weight. i have really no problem with this but i am still experience early satiety. i am rarely ever hungry and barely eat like a young kid, 3-4 years old maybe.
we went to the doctor and my pediatrician and both didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with.
im just so tired of not ever being hungry and when i do eat getting very, extremely full. i was just curious to see if anyone else with a t:slim(on the stomach) experienced this as well.
sorry for the long post. here's a dog-🐕🦺🐩

3 Dexcom changes later...1 sensor fell off after 3 days. 1 had no actual sensor inside the applicator. And 1 somehow had the wire sticking out of the top of the sensor after I inserted it.

I was diagnosed at just over one year old and I am now 21 years old. The past few years I really gave up on taking care of my diabetes and I mean really badly I have just now been getting back into actually taking the proper care but I am so scared of what harm I have caused myself in not caring for probably five years now. I noticed a spot in my vision and it makes me so afraid I am going to end up blind because of my poor care and my next appointment with the eye doctors aren’t till next month as I get checks free once a year but I can’t afford to get it checked sooner as they will charge me if it hasn’t been a full year. I feel so fucking scared and lost and like I’ve fucked up my chances of a good healthy future. Anyway thanks for listening to me vent and if anyone else has let themselves go and was able to manage getting back to a healthy state please share your positive stories

Hey folks, does anyone have any guidance on getting a vacation override request for insulin pump supplies. Looking for folks that have Cigna as their health insurance because I’ve been on the phone with this company for a combined 7 hours over 4 days trying to get this thing taken care of and all Cigna can tell me is that they do not provide this type of letter or request. I’m losing my patience and my mind.

Long shot, but does anyone still use Guardian 3 minimed sensors? I have 16 of them (and an inserter) I’ll never use them and I’d be happy to gift them to someone.

I’ve seen a few posts recently about younger children being diagnosed, so I figured I’d share some of our carb friendly snack choices that my son enjoys while also not feeling like he’s missing out. I know we’re told that diabetics can continue to eat what they like as long as they take insulin, but we’ve found it easier to give him “treats” with less carbs and sugar. Please comment your suggestions, as well!
-Quest Protein Chips
-Skinny Dipped Dark Chocolate Coconut Almond Bites (Almond Joy dupe)
-Skinny Dipped Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (Reese’s dupe)
-Drizzilicious Rice Cake Bites (we like the birthday cake flavor)
-Clio mini Greek yogurt bars (dipped in chocolate so it’s a sweet treat)
-Made Good granola bites
-Popsicle brand for sugar free ice pops
-Harvest Snaps Crunchy Loops and Baked Green Bean Snacks

If so, are they worth the price? I feel like $20 for 12 patches seems expensive but I might would be willing to try them if they actually work really well. I have eczema and really sensitive skin and lately with all the failed sites and occlusions I've been suffering from it's been kinda tearing my skin up and so I'm kinda desperate to see if there's anything to help heal these wounds.

When you disconnect in public places (swimming for example) my team said at home to shower and such it can be left alone but in public to cover it. So my question is do you cover your connection site and if so how do you do it?
Edit: I’m on Minimed 780g

i have had a t:slim for about six years now. i really like this pump, it has a really good algorithm for me and my needs, and it’s been extremely reliable.
i got my second t:slim in june, and i’ve noticed a few little quirks about this new one that my previous one (that i got in 2020) did not have. most notably, there are two, and the first one is pretty minor, and it’s kind of annoying, but it likes to randomly get set back by 6-10 minutes. i do not let my pump die, i usually charge it every night when i shower. i did have this happen when i let my old pump die, but never without it dying. it happens on this pump. this isn’t a huge deal, it’s annoying because i get kicked out of sleep mode a few minutes later, but i can always change the time in the settings. i don’t really mind it too much, because it’s never a matter of the time going later, it’s always earlier, and i’d rather deal with that.
the second one is more annoying to me. i don’t think it’s unsafe, i’ve never had any issues caused because of it, but sometimes, the thing that tells me how much insulin is in my pump will get stuck on a number for sometimes a full day. for example, yesterday, my pump registered itself as having 95 units of insulin left in it from about six in the morning until ten in the evening before it finally dropped down to 90 units. i’m sure it’s a result of the pump just messing up its insulin detection for the actual cartridge and just holding the number at that amount of units until it goes down. i wouldn’t know much about how that stuff works when it comes to weird quirks on the pump. it’s not consistent with being the first day i put a new cartridge in, it just happens whenever it wants to. it’s happened on the first day, it’s happened on the third, it happens on the second sometimes. i’m not super concerned, but i like to have a rough estimate of how much insulin i use in a day, so it is pretty annoying. it isn’t the end of the world, it’s never endangered me or messed with my dosing, so it isn’t anything i feel i should worry about a ton.
do your pumps do anything kinda weird like that?
